what I like about Dagan's demos compared to other TH-cam channels is that his noodling is very random and doesn't sound the same in each video like other TH-camrs do. Love the videos and the channel!
Love this video. Shows not just the guitars but also the rest of the rigs. Lots of different amps out there people could easily be discouraged without an all in demo like this. Thnx
Good video. Well done to Dagan and the team. For £500 I'd get the 2nd hand Marshall Modern 2266C Combo on the PMT site and the B stock Squier Classic Vibe 70s. I think the total would be around £570. Second hand is the way to go. I reckon that would be a great gigging rig.
I bought a bullet tele as a project one time. After playing it a little, I liked it. I went ahead and put some fender tuners and a graphtec nut on it that I had already. That was it. End of project. LOL I never thought I'd like a tele until then. Great deal for $129.
I remember when I was in high school in 2007 and I was gigging with my band, and I had a Peavey Valveking 100 with a 4x12 cab, and when I had to lug it around to shows and practice it was always a pain in the arse. Now I have a Boss Katana MK2 and I have way more effects loaded into it, the GAFC channel switcher, and on top of it the Katana weighs literally nothing and I can carry it around like a mommy kangaroo carrying her kin in her pouch. Its amazing how things have changed since 10 years ago.
Love the video Dagan, nice one. That Katana is spot on. Tiny tiny suggestion for next time - could you mention when guitars are available as left-handed options? It's always a source of disappointment as a lefty to find that your options are a lot more limited :-(
It'll take a while but this pandemic will pass eventually man. Hang in there. I'm looking forward to concerts, parties and jams once we're in the clear.
You're forgetting that luthiers existed in the 80's who could set up your guitar properly, the only difference is that now, because of the internet, we are aware of such things. Paul Gilbert recorded Street Lethal with a Squier and Lee Jackson modded 50 watt plexi
"You guys don't know how lucky you are". Never a more true statement. I remember a Peavey Rage and a Hohner Strat copy. If I could have had a ....whatever and a Boss Katana...🤘
My rig was £470 (not including pedals) then now after Christmas and my birthday it’s £1049( not including pedals) it was worth it, it sounds so much better. The £470 rig still sounds good though
I thought about a Squire till I saw Fender guitars on sale. Fender player series fits into that budget friendly area. I have a mustang LT25 amp. It's great! Other guitar brands that have low price models are Jackson, Kramer and Epiphone.
Tip from me: Harley Benton and Behringer. Those brands make stuff way better than all these commercial and more well known brands, except Boss, they also make great cheap stuff
The Orange Mirco Terror is a beast. I play one through a used 4×12 Fender speaker cabinet. My guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul standard. Some pedals are advisable for this amp. Like a tube screamer clone, distortion or fuzz pedal. The whole rig works with my band, which has a drummer.
Hey Dagen how are things in the uk? im from east coast in Canada, just picked up a really nice ebony p90 sg with white cluson tuners white binding on the neck trying to find out what year and if its a special its a epiphone the p-90s are chrome any idea what i have,it plays and sounds great thanks WILL
My first rig was very similar to rig 1 with a yamaha pacifica 112v and a munstang gt40. 112v has a hss setup with the humbucker being able to be coil split.
Btw it's now May 2022... Hey Dagan, I caught that "Jason and the Argonauts" XTC riff as you demoed Squier Bullet Tele w/Katana 50w set to phase and delay. Sweet!
Two things: I guess this is on me for listening to what other people's opinions are, but I had always heard that Squire Bullett Series guitars just were flat out awful. Now, we all know that sometimes you can plug a Monoprice guitar into a Suhr Badger and if you're a half decent player with an ear for tone, you'd draw a (grateful) crowd. However, I never see anyone (who CAN play) playing a Squire anything. It is almost ALWAYS Fender, Gibson, or PRS. Second (with a decent segue), my recommendation, as I'm not a walking vault of gold dubloons, is either buy or find freeware of an audioFX VST. Most of the decent ones come with a BUNCH of "homage pedal effects" and you can mess around with it as much as you like with any amp that you've got a Sim of. I got Amplitube 5, which I like alright (very intuitive UI), but ToneLibGFX is actually my preferred personal Jam palace. It's free for as long as you want to keep it with an option to buy if you want to support. Check it out and keep on rockin!
I always love to be given a couple of options and choosing my favorite so, if I had the ability to choose one of these rigs I would pick the... 2nd Rig
If you don't want to fiddle, amp wise boss katana mk 1 or two you really can't beat it, plug in, sound good. Or if you want more you can download tone central and twiddle to your hearts content (download sneak amps pack, truly unlocks the boss katana potential.
HB Fusion II £266, used iPhone £120, BIAS FX 2 (free - basic), iRig 2 £30: £416 Still £84 to spare. Now, for £21 more get the HB MP-100 MIDI Foot Controller, and for £521 you get the best minimal and portable gig ever.
If you're planning on live gigs, you'll have to get some sort of speaker as well so you've gone over budget there. If you got a bullet strat then you might get away with that setup.
@@jamesorrell7462 Sir, that is my live rig. No amp needed. Just a cable to the mixer. I've used that for over a year and it works flawlessly :) When I want to go a bit fancier, I use my laptop with the Focusrite.
@@jamesorrell7462 haha I am not saying mine is the best option - it's just a different one and the one that's best for me. In my case, I got rid of all my amps and went the portable/digital route. I am just too old to be carrying amps and speakers. If my option doesn't work for you? Well, there are the options in the video that are excellent! :)
I'd love to try out your idea actually. I already have a bunch of the gear you have. Are you using the foot controller for working with bias? If so, can you map it to turn on invidual pedals or do you use it to go through presets?
That Fender LT50 sounds like dookie and I don't mean the green day album. I've tried the Katana 50 a couple times and it wasn't quite my thing, but I gotta say it sounds good here doesn't sound like toy amp
So you can get a marshal tone in a fender amp 😱 personal I know it be more expensive but I'd get the lp Jr and a marshal or in this case the fender amp in the beginning with inflation you should do an updated video
I bought the LT25 myself. Very cool amp but I would not suggest gigging with it. While it has lots of effects available you cannot quickly turn them on or off. Only thing you can do is get a footswitch to switch between two channels. Everything else you have to dive down into the menu system. Great for a practice amp, would not recommend gigging with it. Furthermore there is no FX loop. It was for that reason I got a Boss Katana Mk2 100 1x12. I kept the LT25 because it's great when I have someone over to jam with, but not gig worthy in my opinion. I'm not a gigging musician so take my comments with tons of salt.
Is that a D'Addario Auto Lock strap? Looking for someone who's using that strap on a bass (feeling, comfort, money well spent or it's better going with a larger, thicker, more comfy leather strap)
Tbh i really like the sg special in this video. The p90s and sg body is a rock and roll machine good for punk, alt, and so on. You can get a casino also p90s. Red like daniel kessler's or in natural finish like john lennon's. If you want a more hard rock sound with presence get the les paul they sound almost identical to the gibsons. Pick the one that has the look and feel that you're looking for.

Shit. It's been fine. Plenty of tv to catch up on or do your hobbies. 20-21 was whatever you made out of it.
2020 was the end of your lives as you know them. Alex Jones was right.
This guy is the ultimate reviewer!
This is the 3rd or 4th video about the sg special. And I've loved them all!

Valve King was a cool amp. When I started playing you were spending 500 min to get a decent sounding amp you could gig with.
I agree I love my fender champion 40 it's really loud.

I agree! I wish they had this quality at a beginner level when I started playing.
For the money, you cant beat the Squier Tele's. NICE!
I already have the guitar rig i need. Please do a bass rig one.

It is because if you're still alive it means that you don't have the rona.

Boss Katana with a new 2020 Epi is the best choice. No matter what music you wanna play. Great guitars and a gamechanger amp!

I can hear and feel a strong Hendrix influence on Dagan. Great playing BTW.

Back in the 1990s guitar shops recommended the Yamaha Pacifica. I have not played a new pacifica are they still a good starter guitar?
They r still amazing for the price. Just bought one brand new. Plays like a beast

amazing how he makes anything sound great
