Question: what if... at the time of Injury.. blood test was done with the source of needle...then the source was tested NEGATIVE for Hepb, hepC, and HIV... do we need to do follow.up bloodtest for the staff injured ? Or no need since the source is NEGATIVE
I work in an office where no one uses the safety needle devices. I'm new and was told they will get them becuz I want them but they cant make the other employees use them. I will be the only employee to use them. I thought osha required all healthcare workers to use them. Is this not the case?
What if the source of the needle was tested negative .. do we have to test the nurse or staff ?even the s0ource is negative. With hiv..Hepb.. or Hepc.???
there are scoring system to asses the risk of NSI disease transmission. you can look it up and use it to calculate the risk and the procedure you have to take in managing NSI patients
I love how the health care system protects the employee but how do they protect the patient? The nurse made the mistake not the patient, dont you think that nurses need to be drug tested when this happens? Am i the only one that thinks this is reasonable?
Great presentation. I am the sharps safety coordinator for my hospital system. I would live to compare needle stick data and prevention efforts.
That sounds great! I would like to do that too. How big is your hospital? Ours is just over 500 beds.

drug tested? why? because of the drugs residue in the needle?
