When he said he had an album in the works, and she reacted like he said he was having a baby! That's what we need in the world.

I think we all love this Sharon/Ian conversation as much as Scott/Ian but Sharon speaks true here because I remember when I saw the first course recorded by Ian in SBL about his approach to music sessions, it was so inspiring to me in so many ways that all I wanted was to pick up the bass and play all this music I’ve never heard of before. Since then he’s been for me the biggest form of inspiration, like if his joy for the bass was transferred to me each time I see him playing. I don’t think he is aware of how big of an impact he’s been for the whole bass community.

I want Sharon's album yesterday. Bass skills of someone who sold their soul to the devil, voice of an angel!

I'm glad to be getting the IG lives on TH-cam, I always miss them and much prefer watching stuff back on TH-cam rather than IG

Happy New Year! Glad to see you back, Sharon! Have you guys ever interviewed Sam Wilkes? Dude is amazing. That bass sounds great, Scott. Yay for the rock music content!

I absolutely love seeing Ian's passion for playing at the beginning, makes me want to pick up my bass and just vibe with it.

Love to see you two together! Makes for some great viewing. I was bred to be a hockey player at a young age but always was interested in music. Played high level hockey but never had my heart in it. Around 1989 when I was 11 I got an acoustic guitar and played it for about a year but wasn’t getting the sound I was hearing in my head. I didn’t know what a bass was at the time. But when my older neighbour across the street told me I was hearing bass I switched immediately. Learned on my own for the first 5 years and played pretty much all by ear. Took lessons for 3 years in the mid 90’s which helped immensely. I’ve always played in bands, from 92 til now, gigged through my 20’s and early 30’s a ton and did a good number of studio gigs as well. I found SBL in 2017 and it changed my world. My playing has improved 10000 times since I’ve joined the program and now I can finally play with technique, knowledge, and theory along with 30 years of ear training form thousands of hours on the instrument. Love your channel and everything you guys do! Don’t ever change.

My son plays guitar in a band with Keith Vivens in Houston, TX. I've seen Keith play many times with a funk band in Houston called TKoh! He's a great player and very well known among musicians in Houston. He has profiles on IG and Facebook...though more active on Facebook.

Awesome episode. We all said we wanted more Sharon, and SBL listens :) One random thought: You two have voice talent. Seriously, you could voice act some Disney cartoon characters or something.

I looked at the LiveClass thing. Couldn't see anywhere that said how long a LiveClass is. Also your 'Guided Practice' class. How long a series of classes is it? Is it different each week? Does it rely on being present one week for the next week to make sense? Are they all standalone? I presuming you would know this as it's your class ... but are all classes structured in the same way? Say for example I join in March ... am I starting behind the curve? ... would I have access to the classes I missed? I know I can join and get my money back if it doesn't suit but it seems that a lot of info is missing. If you have the time to answer these questions then thanks a lot 🎸

22:41 Ian says he took lessons by Brian Bromberg. This is the first time I have heard him mention it. Such an underrated bass player with a lengthy discovery and cool concepts within his bass guitar construction. I have his vhs tape from 1990 and can not find it anywhere. This inspired me to upload the vhs to my TH-cam channel if ya want to check out this great player

What's the amp Ian was using at the start (and were there any pedals in the chain)? The combination with Ian's bass sounds great.

Also also, I was older than Ian is now when i started playing bass (and I wish I had started earlier). The brain and fingers aren't as flexible as i'd like them to be . . .
