Hi. We planted a red Birch 18 month ago and staked with upright bamboo but the tree trunk is still only 1/2 inch, tree about 2.5m high top half very whippy and bent.
you better check other videos before you go with this one. This one has errors and omissions. didn't check for the trunk flair. didn't install a berm. erroneously placed mulch in contact with the tree. at least she got the stakes correct, but not a whole lot more.
Exactly! Bless her heart, she has much to learn. Folks- just search for "Root Flair" also known as "Trunk Flare" (it Needs to be Slightly ABOVE ground when you plant the tree to help it breath) Also, don't pack the soil in so firmly like she did. 🙏🏾

Please keep looking for others- also search for Root Flare (very important- but she didn't mention it)
She missed an important part, that's that you have to remove the stake in the root ball in the container and then stake it outside the root ball.
