*Theory:* That was actually Ichigo's Shikai, as Juha Bach stole his Quincy Powers and that changed the composition of his Bankai, so much so, that it could no longer maintain its form. Zangetsu was repaired as a past version of itself, a version where Ichigo had those powers, so when Juha Bach blocked it, the superficial shell broke to reveal the real Zangetsu, as it was as a normal Asauchi.
@@douglascramer1501 nah juha bach absorbed a lot of his quincy and hollow powers but juha bach could never steal the origin of his power which is a single being kind of split in 2 is zangetsu (shinigami+hollow+quincy powers) and that is also the reason why when juha bach activated his aushwahlen he couldnt steal ichigo's quicy power even though he is a mixed blood
If we knew more about it, then it could potentially be really dangerous. Imagine her flooding your body with ash and then cutting you from the inside out

My theory behind Heineko, is that it was modified by Gin Ichimaru giving her part of his soul, after Aizen stole some of it, which is why both their Zanpakuto take the form of particles. It also explains why Rangiku hasn't developed a Bankai, even though she is very close with her Zanpakuto Spirit and an older member of the Gotei 13. It is very possible that Gin's Bankai was incomplete, lacking the control necessary to use it like Heineko. Gin was mostly a threat because of his martial skill as a Shinigami, being the only member of Aizen's faction that didn't get a power boost from the Hogyoku.
I feel like it could have been which is why what hhappened is such a shame. He wasn't Captain class so he couldn't really showcase it's true power, nor do i think he mastered it yet which would have made it very weak and fragile. I feel like it could have been up there with Komamura's in terms of sheer destructive power.
I think Rangiku's Haineko could potential be a very dangerous Zanpakuto if she practiced with it more. Imagine if she were to make it into a invisible dust cloud that her enemies would unknowingly inhale entering the lungs and bloodstream which would then allow her to shred their lungs, blood vessels, and other organs from the inside out. It would be like a more subtle version of Senbonzakura.
I actually suspect that her blade is much more dangerous than people assume. Remember, her powers are a product of Gin transplanting his reitsu into her to keep her alive after Aizen attacked her, which is why her blade shares its dust theme with his (ie. both shikai involve their blades turning into dust to attack at long range). If her bankai follows this pattern, it's likely that her blade's release will gain lethal poison, which is a really scary threat given the damage that Gin's poison did to even somebody like Aizen.
I actually disagree with the placement of Hisagemaru. If we take into account the fact that the user is extremely unskilled and has a low power level, then the weapon actually scales pretty well in comparison. We can’t forget that the user is extremely low ranked and therefore has a weak spiritual pressure. In the hands of a skilled combatant with experience it would be very impressive as they would be able to heal their own injuries in the midst of combat while retaliating with an overpowered counterattack. This weapon, given that the user does not receive a fatal blow, can potentially ensure that the user never dies in the middle of combat. It is essentially like Unohana’s fighting style automatically. Without having to waste your time with actual healing Kido. Not only is the healing instant, but we haven’t even seen the limits of what they can heal. For example with detached limbs.
No mention (or did I miss it?) of Yoruichi's? For someone so strong, and for Zanpakto to be so integral to a character, she notably never uses it, and it's said in Can't Fear Your Own World that using it is basically a downgrade for her. I think you're overly harsh on Heineko, especially since you've made previous comparisons of it to Senbonzakura, and every time we've seen Matsumoto use it, it has been incredibly valuable and has some insane potential for powerful move sets if Matsumoto becomes more powerful.
Yoruichi's Zanpakuto is a generational Zanpakuto, like Nanao's. She had to leave it with the Shihoin Clan, which they will pass on after the next Head of the Clan is officially recognized. Soifon is only the Captain of the Stealth Force, not actually the Head of the Shihoin Clan.
Wait I just changed my thoughts on the medical scale Zanpaktuo. That weapon is amazing. All he really needs is to use kiddo attacks and fight in groups. He heals his allies and himself as they all get damaged and when the gauge fills up, he has an almighty blast attack that can potentially be used as a fuel for a kiddo attack. It’s just not developed enough and the wielder is a bit of a timid type.
For how much screen time she gets, I really wish Rangiku's Haineko could get some development. Due to being composed of billions of ash particles, its potential should be on par, if not greater, than Senbozakura. Imagine if she could create objects with the cloud of bladed/metal ash, like spears, shields or a sort of localized ash hailstorm to shred the opponents, possibly infiltrating their wounds and mouth and kill them from the inside out, like Senjomaru did to the distortion Quincy. And Bankai wouldn't even be out of the question, since the Zanpakuto Rebellion even gave both her and Haineko a nice chance to bond. And since Rangiku is one of the most seasoned vice-captains in the series, it's so sad to see her be underused. Note: also, Fire Force showed us what an ash user can do if they are taken more seriously, so it leaves me a bit butthurt as I love Rangiku.
Thanks for the video dude I was kinda surprised by Tobiume being here but now that you mention it, it was pretty trash compared to how it could've been if Hinamori hadn't been turned into a punching bag from the start. I couldn't think what would be worse than Omaeda's zanpakuto but I had completely forgotten we saw afro guy's sword release so yeah, he is definitely the worst lmao
She most likely would be one of the strongest lietenent and would've been captain of a division by the end of the series (Just replace mister i never did anything in bleach iba 😑😑😒😒)

I'm assuming that applies to Soul society too or she died young in the living world. This is speculation on my part but I assume that Aizen didn't know what it was at the time but that it was special since its basically what the Hogyoku is powered by he didn't know it had a will
This list is confusing. You say you're not taking the shinigami into account, just the zanpakuto, but aren't the abilities of a zanpakuto a result of the the shinigami's soul being reflected on an asauchi? i.e. if Renji had Senbonzakura and Byakuya had Zabimaru, wouldn't the zanpakuto be fundamentally different from the ones we know?
Interesting video in my opinion , l'm quite new to the series soo l'm interested to see some new charwcters and some new zampakuto's in the future and also bankai's .
What about the guy with flying shuriken zanpakuto that get bodied by Ishida in soul society arc. Also if we’re talking pre tybw you can put Unohana there as the only thing the sword does is heal but it requires ingesting the target. I guess it does provide flight/ transportation of the wounded.
It’s fascinating that the reason why these are weak have to do entirely with the characters themselves. I’ve often thought Zanpakto like Aizen’s Kyoka Suigetsu were so fucking busted because they won the spirit lottery. But as we see in CFYOW, it’s the *users* that truly evolve and change their Zanpakto to make them powerful
I always thought that Rangiku's Zanpakuto would have attained more impressive power if A. she hadn't had some of her power stolen from her by Aizen and B. if she actually trained and worked with it. I think its stated in the show that both she and her sword like her are a bit lazy.
Ikkaku has the only repaired bankai. I always got the impression the rangiku's shikai was a water down version of gin's. I, maybe misguidedly thought momo's fireballs could be combined with kido as an ability but idk. Ok, your no 1 pick does show. Fourth instance of an "attack" that all elementals show, a capture technique. He used earth "pillars" in a similar fashion to hitsu and yama, not as flashy as even rukia's but it is an earth type.
It is said that Matsumoto is alive because Gin gave a part of his soul to her after Aizen runs her of her own. Hence why her Zanpacto turns to mist like Ichimaru’s Bankai does.
Funny how Renji takes so many Ls in the canon story. In the Bleach games, Zabimaru is powerful because it's both fast and can strike long-range. Renji even beats Byakuya in one of the filler arcs. He has potential, but Kubo likes to fuck him.
to be fair, for a good deal of them, it's just bad users, especially those who have weak Riatsu. Zabimaru: the Bankai actually got a pretty powerful cannon built into it, and the blade is an excellent zoning weapon. This requires a strategic fighter who excels at fighting at a distance, not Renji. Ideal User: Ichimaru Gin Tenken: it's a big, destructive monster, and it gets healed when you get healed, so say....if you are a master healer, you have an immortal giant stand that can destroy everything in its path. Ideal user: Unohana Retsu Haineko: It is the "cheap" Senbonzakura, but it is still something to be feared, just imagine razor-sharp dust tearing you up from the inside( you can't inhale Senbonzakura, you can inhale Haineko), and the dust can be coated with poison and other substances, but I doubt Rangiku is willing to go that far. Ideal user: Kurusuchi Mayori Tobiume: the fireball seems to be able to have some homing properties and can travel through Kido and maybe even other conductive substances, a master tactician with a lot of Riatsu to spare can turn it into something quite fearsome. Ideal user: Urahara Kisuke Hisagomaru: easy, DMC5 Royal guard, jump into the fight, use the blade to heal yourself while tanking hits from your opponent, then launch a powerful attack. Of course, this would require a user that is physically tough, pain resistant, and battle-hungry, which Hanataro definitely isn't. Ideal User: Shihoin Yoruichi
My only 2 issues. Take Tobiume off this list explosive fireballs are not weak and shes uses them in versatile ways. Put Gegtsuburi at number 1. Tsuchinamazu has an ability that is useful and on an average opponent would work
With the #1 worse, maybe it's the wielder's problem. It forces riatsu into the ground and shatters and tears apart the ground, what happens if that hits a person instead of the ground?
What about Tetsuzaemon Iba's Zanpakuto (is like Zabimaru and Kubikiri Orochi, but not as good. Then again, Iba became a captain with it), and Zangetsu?
@@waynesmith7746 this list is for weakest design, abilities, etc. Not power. Zangetsu is just a giant meat cleaver that shots energy, the incomplete Bankai give a physical boost and we have no idea what the Real Bankai does (apart from shooting a kamehameha like attack)
@@maximilianosanchez1106 look at the video context to see how power is spoken about. Such as yamada. Does the power actually have any impact on its own was more of the big thing. And ultimately the getsuga tenshou gets a ton done in a fight despite not being versatile. While most of the lieutenants have clearly superior versions of their own zanpaktous or ultimately does very little. Kenpachis shikai is literally just a meat cleaver but clearly it’s power makes it so it isn’t bad. Hioris is a neat cleaver and it’s bad because it doesn’t do anything of note. Not any noticeable power boost and no increased effectiveness. It’s just there. Getsuga tenshou is just that relevant similar to how nozarashis powerbboost is also just that relevant.
We dont even know Iba's Zanpakuto's name. We know littereally nothing about it. Same with Itegumo. Had this Zanpakuto been properly showcased we might have gotten something pretty crazy
Surprised ichigo’s first zanpakto wasn’t on the list considering it’s just big sword who’s shikai is big sword with lazer and who’s bankai is normal sword that makes you fast.
Think popping Haineko on this list is a bit harsh, obviously we'll never know but mini Senbonzakura is about right. The weapon has scary potential and she's still a lieutenant, I imagine Byakuya at lieutenant level would have been just as scary as Rangiku.

I disagree with your assessment on Yachiru. Even it hits the same place 3 times, it seems to be at the wielder's strength. Meaning it at the very least triples the hitting power. Also don't forget that one of the potentially invisible strikes hits before Yachiru's swing. It would be hard to block something that hits slightly before or after you think it's coming.
I honestly wish ikkaku got his bankai repaired in order to get another chance to shine I liked the concept the concept of the weapon having to “wake up” and essentially ram up and would have loved to see what a reforged version of the concept would look like.
Nahh, this video is obviously based on the user. Some zanpakuto mentioned here really have a unique and cool ability, it's just you're putting them here because of the user. Actually Ichigo's tensa zangetsu is not really that strong, it just makes him much faster and the reason he can defeat stronger opponent using his bankai is just because of the plot.
If we are only going off what Tsuchinamazu does in the manga, I agree. If Zennosuke has trained with it, he might be able to manipulate earth with more skill, but that’s just speculation. Zennosuke might be weak and a joke character, but he’s not dumb. He must have known that he couldn’t stand up to Aizen.
what about that 4th or 7th seat shinigami that first show Uryuu what a shikai is at the start of the series ? that one that spam fly shuriken's or portions of his zanpakuto on the side note, many of the zanpakuto in this list is mainly the weakness of the user, which we cant see them fully utilized the zanpakuto to its potential. For one, i dont think Tsuchinamazu 's power is to create the earth cage. Its probably utilizing earth, similar to Naruto's Doton, he probably could use it to create Earth spikes and other stuff, but Aizen is simply too strong for any attack, so Zennosuke only focus on escaping and try to block Aizen's vision so that he can attempt escape. Gegetsuburi is fragile probably due to the user, as we know shikai bankai's strength can be affected by user, probably both reiatsu and mentally. Suifon's shikai cant kill Aizen with her sure-death shikai's effect as her reiatsu is simply too weak compare to Aizen. Gegetsuburi probably suffered the same problem, Omaida is weak both in reiatsu and mentallly. He often look for ways to escape than resolve to fight. Zanpakuto is a reflection of the user, as such, Gegetsuburi's fragility is a reflection of that Omaida's fragile resolve and his weak reiatsu. Weak reiatsu causing fragility of shikai and bankai is probably true for Hozokimaru as Ikkaku's reiatsu isnt as strong as other captains and vice captains' reiatsu.
I mean Tokinada kinda showed that Hisagomaru can be useful if you're actually a fighter, issue is Hanataro is not a fighter at all. Also Zennosuke's worked well for Tokinada as well.
I could see your reasonings for most but #3 seemed a little outa place to me. I don’t wanna get to head cannon but imagine if he just used the healing ability on himself to get to his big attack. I feel like there’s a lot of possibilities to use it offensively if you wished. Even without that just the healing ability is arguably stronger than the rest of these abilities.
To be fair against the normal hollows number 1s ability would work to blind the enemy the flash step (he was shown doing I believe could be wrong tho haven't read in forever was in high-school when that guy was introduced)
I thought wabisuke would have made this list honestly. Most of the time Kira uses it it doesn't seem that useful but I guess that's down to the wielder, because the one time he did use it right it was one of the most badass moments.
Yumichika is such an odd character. Punishes his Zanpakuto and purposefully makes it weaker, leaves the fourth seat vacant because he prefers the Kanji for 5 and nobody else is qualified for the fourth seat. Such a weirdly, stubbornly proud guy. I'm surprised Zaraki put up with him.
To be honest when Omaeda originally released that giant mace, I was thinking it would have something to do with weight manipulation. Mostly because his captain is this small ultra fast lady, so I thought he would be weight based.
Honestly I think some of these zanpakuto are just not used creatively (at least as much as they should). Take heineko, you would breathing in this ash would be an obvious strategy. Why not combine it with a fire kido to help burn better? I mean if she was half as good as byakuya it'd be even better. Or how about tenken? I mean if we're being real here he should only use his shikai in 1v1s, summoning phantom looking body parts individually sounds way smarter than summoning a gigantic target, unless, A, you're fighting a giant, B, you're fighting an army weaker than you. And if you summon those smaller body parts as if they were your own you could use it infinitely easier with better precision. Also if it's as ghostly as it looks, you won't have to worry about your knuckles getting cut as you're slashing or maybe you can retract as fast as it was summoned. Nothing says he can't summon other body parts too, so maybe he could knock back an opponent with his other arm if he's opened up by slashing. Most surprisingly though, can't this zanpakuto use kido? It's just a reflection right? So theoretically couldn't he make a gigantic hado or bakudo with his giant arm? I am shocked that this hasn't been shown in at least one panel, it's not like it's ever been explicitly stated he can't right? What about tobiume? I would think it could be used as a more tactful zanpakuto, yama's. She could use it like roy mustang, and Guila, setting up traps with slow moving exploding fire balls, or very pinpoint accurate shots with small fireballs, to explode a hollow's eyes or something. Maybe a technique, that drives her sword into the ground or atmosphere to create several fireballs that explode like a minefield. If there is a specific reason as to why they can't do that then i'll just chalk it up to the characters not being creative enough. You should do a video on how to improve some of these zanpakuto.
I’d say Zaraki’s Zanpakuto should’ve made the list cause it’s just a sword or a meat cleaver shikai and bankai form. The only reason the Zanpakuto looks decent is because of Zaraki’s own power wich knows no bounds. Give that sword to anyone else they’d suck with it. Zaraki is juste that force of nature that could use a butter knife and cut the earth in half with it. He basically just a berserker and yeah the sword fits him but even then in the bankai form if it gives too much power to Zaraki his own body can’t handle it just try to imagine anyone else going into bankai and basically just exploding from the inside.
I mean for me it proves that lot of these zanpakutos because their wielders don’t specialize in sword fighting, a lot rely on kido, kaido or being assassin, some through self defense and some are just not challenged to truly master their abilities. ikakku sadly idolizes a reckless powerhouse who doesn’t have a strong connection with his sword. His connection to his own sword is weak and since he is so immature it makes sense how fragile it is. Renji still hadn’t mastered his bankai and kind of forced his sword past its breaking point. Matsumoto doesn’t have a strong connection to her blade and she’s never really been given a reason to be stronger. An issue a lot of the side characters have. Hiyori relies heavily on her mask and thus has probably created a rift with her sword. Yachiru lacks maturity too and Momo would probably have a better connection with Tobiume if she finally decided to work with the kido corps and Hanatoro does have the issue of his brother having a stronger version of his sword
Personally, I think that Hisagomaru doesnt deserve to be on here. True, its usage is very specific, but in the hands of just about anyone, it would make for an ungodly useful addition to any battlegroup. Its user can heal everyone around them easily and then unleash fairly powerful attacks, before resealing the sword and restarting the cycle. I really dont see why that wouldnt work because its not like a Soul Reaper cant reseal their Zanpakuto after unleashing it. So long as they have some skill in Kido and/or Hakuda, its weakness of not being able to actually do much damage outside of the energy blast is mitigated. Plus, basic rules for any party, PROTECT THE FUCKING HEALER! I have never understood why the actual hell Omaida is a Lieutenant at all. I mean, he does show during the Battle for Karakura town that he isnt as useless as he appears, but he just flat out doesnt seem like the sort of person who should be allowed in a position like that.
A lot of the times when the zanpakuto break it's not the zanpakuto's fault, it's the owners fault... Almost very time a zanpakuto breaks it's usually due to the owner being completely outclassed by a stronger opponent. When Grand fisher becomes an Arrancar he brags about how big his sword is as a result of his power... which Isshin laughs at because soul reapers compress their energy into their blades to keep them small, meaning the physical strength of a sword (in terms of breaking and cracking) is directly linked to the wielder's power. In weapon based combat, spears, maces, swords, shields etc all have very impactful uses and advantages, obviously this isn't really a main factor in Shonen battle anime where weapon types and styles are usually just cosmetic, but if we're arguing base weapons that don't have cool effects as weakest, Ichigo's is just a big clunky sword that can shoot a energy blast sometimes, and his bankai is just a normal sword with a power boost "it's lighter so me go faster" Hiyori Sarugaki's zanpakuto is practically just a serrated alt version of Ichigo's... minus the getsuga tenshou's When (the mace guy) Marechiyo Ōmaeda's zanpakuto breaks against Ichigo, it's a clear show that he has far surpassed lieutenant rank and is capable of contending with a captain, I'd also argue he was outclassed in the fight against the hollow. In reality this weapon would be so heavy and impact full you wouldn't be able to block it with a sword and if you did it'd shatter the sword (but obviously Shonen logic makes that not the case) As for spear bearers, they should far outrange swords, meaning they can safely attack from so far away the enemy can't return fire, but also will be less effective at close range, but Ikkaku has the range but also a close range variation that substitutes the range for a slightly better close range matchup. This does actually take place in the fight vs Ichigo, but they never really account for it ever again... (his bankai is still designed with the intention of looks over effectiveness though) The stick part is weak but again a lot of the times the weapon's break the user is out classed or against a gimmick (the lucky punch guy who auto crits every hit... and literally Aizen cutting the Visard girls spear...) Obviously the stick part is a clear weakness, but the user shouldn't be letting them just snap it like that... which seems more like a user issue. I'd argue that the fights for the pillars in fake Karakura town where very hollow favoured, and the soul reapers had like 3rd/5th seat people fighting against fairly strong hollows. which could also be an excuse for why Ikkaku's breaks again sadly Plus you have to realise some zanpakuto are for fighters (witch will just be better at hitting things) and some are for kido users (which will have fancy effects and skills). Usually depending on the person So a Kido based zanpakuto will always be linked to how skilled the caster is, I feel like this is very much the case for someone like momo
I think hineko is one of the better shikai in the series. I just think Rangiku uses it wrong imo. Seems better suited for a stealth/tactical uses. Not much for random attacking. It’s more for utility and crowd control than offensive. The offensive capabilities seems more like an added feature that makes the zanpakuto have multi uses.
It might just be my own logic, but Ikaku always seemed like his Zanpakuto is stifled because of his reverence of Kenpachi. He's a guy who sees his hero do everything with his own strength and neglected his own sword bond because of it. Sure, he made it to Bankai, but that just seems like he wants to prove how strong he is as a person and his spirit was too lazy to help him move past that. His weapon is fragile because it feels like it's only a tool wielded by a guy who idolizes a guy who wields a sword that isn't even his own.
I guess Gegetsuburi also falls into this. Just like it's wielder, it's projects strength from a distance but has nothing backing it up. It's all bark and no bite.
If all these Zanpakuto wielders are captain levels, how good would it be? As a shikai, Kyoka Suigetsu basically put others in shame but looking at these none captain levels, it's mostly a transformed physical weapon.
It really depends on the user. Like say for instance if Yamamoto had Renjis Zanpakuto it would be way stronger than it was wielded by Renji. And if Renji had Yamamotos Zanpakuto it would be significantly weaker than it was wielded by Yamamoto.
I feel Rangiku could have used Haineko as a suffocating weapon! When she goes Shikai Rangiku could easily send the sand into the lungs of her opponent and shred them from the inside out. She could also fill their lungs with her sand until they can’t breathe

Right? Making your enemies inhale the ash is probably one of the best tactics to use with Haineko. I think they just didn’t want to make Rangiku too op? Imagine an ability that suffocates and chops you up from the inside.
Honestly it's a really versatile weapon, Rangiku didn't get too many chances to use it all out in a fair fight, but she could definitely make better use of it
I think there are more interesting abilities Kubo could have given Haineko's shikai form such as teleportation, ash clones, ash constructs and temporarily turning things into ash.
Hisagomaru would be the most OP weapon if it belonged to someone who's battle-minded. Hanataro could infinitely heal himself and constantly fire getsuga tenshou-like attacks.
Assuming Hanataro can heal himself, he can fill the gauge with his own injuries and attack. As he restores himself, he'd be a beast in hour-long fights.
I would argue that Rangiku's zanpakuto is limited more by her inability to use it properly rather than it being inherently weak. Had she been training with it as long as Byakuya had trained to use Senbonsakura, I imagine it would be just as good. Just my take on it.
@@malcolmisgee nah , Omaeda had a really useless zampakutou in itself , same goes for Zenosuke or even Komamura. Haineko is pretty much a senbonzakura been wielded by a less talented person , simple as that , the blade is fine , but Rangiku is simply not skilled enough. Hanatarou is one that could be fine with his zampakutou if he was skilled in martial arts , because it's just a matter of fighting in an asauchi state , heal a bunch of wounds of himself in shikai to use in the enemy and them continues on asauchi. For a medical division character , it's useful enough.
Kubo’s at his finest. Create so many incredible characters and starts many very interesting plot lines to only throw everything in the garbage or just don’t write about it anymore. Ikkaku’s was one of the most impressive shinigami at the time. Imagine if instead of making him look like shit, Vaste Lorde would’ve have been that strong? The story would’ve been so much better. We would’ve feared the espada.

I absoloutely loved the first time he used Bankai too, I cummed in that moment, BUT the fact that the Arrancar against him was not a Vasto Lorde is literally only coherence. Let's not fight one of the few times Kubo demonstrated coherence, if you're not a captain you have no chances against a Vasto Lorde, even if you mastered Bankai, and Ikkaku was not even a Lieutenant

It really makes you wonder how Omaeda made the Stealth Force at all. Sure he's shown himself to be wholesome smuggling in people from the worst areas of the Rukon after the war but still, that Zanpakuto seems only fit for crushing and forming diamonds as he does in his postwar occupation.

I honestly wonder if Ikkaku's bankai was hurt by its immature nature. It had power, but its brittle nature might have to do with how much Ikkaku himself needs to grow before he reaches his full potential, much like how Renji reached his potential near the end of the story.
Ikkaku's bankai suffered because of Ikkaku himself, no one else. Had he bothered training, he wouldn't have been pressed into becoming a captain while having a fully realized zanpaktou. Renji is hands down among the stronger members of the gotei and everyone knows he has a bankai, yet he's still serving as Byakuya's lieutenant so Ikkaku being afraid of being promoted comes across as hollow.

People don't give Renji enough credit, he is basically Bleach's Piccolo, being a technical fighter but not being written well to emphasize his strength. For example, we see that Zabimaru can be used to corner an opponent by manipulating the battlefield, as Renji did against Espada #8. Piccolo could easily use Multiform and Special Beam Cannon to overcome power gaps, as his Ki control is the best out of all of DBZ, able to create a weak attack that can be lethal, due to its structure,like Krillin's Destructo Disc.
Hanataro has a super powerful shikai, particularly for a kido user or a hakudo user. It's effectively self sustain. You can tank anything that doesn't kill you by healing yourself and ultimately turning all that damage into an attack.
*Theory:* Ichigo's Bankai seen at the end was actually his Shikai, since Juha Bach absorbed his Quincy Powers and his hollow powers were already merged with his Zanpakuto. This sets up another Arc where Ichigo can relearn his Bankai and still get a significant nerf, just like at the end of the Fake Karakura Town Arc. *Note:* Ichigo's power was also unstable usually, having explosive highs and extreme lows, as his 3 powers fought to gain balance. This is also why he had to wake up his Quincy Powers, in his fight with Juha Bach, so that he could properly integrate it before going into Bankai, to increase the stability of his power. *Edit:* Ichigo never actually learned how to use his Bankai, it was always his Quincy Powers that forced cooperation. With his Quincy Powers gone, he has to relearn his Bankai, as it no longer has his Quincy Powers intertwined with it, making its internal composition and abilities different.

Why would a "mastered" Hihio Zabimaru be clumsy at all, given that it isn't the only massive bankai? While there seems to be a range limit, is there a position limit on Tenken being summoned? That adds a lot to its versatility. Additionally, is it harder for a user to swing their sword, or does Tenken feel as light as swinging a normal sword? Since Kokujo Tengen Myo'o heals with the user, could this symbiotic relationship be used to greater effect by learning kaido (healing kido) to prolong time on the battlefield similar to why Unohana even picked up the skill to begin with? I could go on. Things like this are what a video on the weakest zanpakuto is overlooking, imo.
Zabimaru is a kinda weak. I wanted Renji to surpass byakuya a little after Renji obtained bankai but all we get to see is Zabimaru getting smashed to pieces. His moves are cool with the weapon but most powerful weapons in this show aren't the huge ones
Nanao's Shinken Hakkyoken should be on this list. It literally is only useful in 1 situation, which is against a God made out of light which conveniently turns out to be Lil Baro.
@@boxiannn her zampakutou is useful to all gods , so while it is a plot armor materialised , it's useful enough , as Bleach had plenty of gods as long you are powered-up from a fragment of the SK.
@@boxiannn That's not entirely true, as Nanao's Family is an established pillar of Soul Society, from the very beginning of the Series, which was precisely for that weapon and the role their Clan is supposed to play. You could argue that out of all of the Soul Society, only her Family could slay Juha Bach, after absorbing the Soul King, or Butterfly-Aizen, so they have a solid position in the Soul Society.
You missed a kinda key point about Rangeku's blade--it's a derivative of Gin's (remember, he saved her after Aizen and his people attacked her by basically being what Rukia did to Ichigo, and transplanting some of his reitsu into her to keep her spiritual form from collapsing), and thus could be extremely scary if her Bankai parallels his the same way her shikai does. If her blade follows the same pattern his does, turning to dust to act as a long-range weapon in the shikai, and then gaining lethal poison in the bankai, her blade could be unbelievably lethal. Imagine if Byakuya's blade shards had Gin's poison, never mind what that poison's effects look like for anybody who isn't Aizen.
Something I always had in mind for Heinako is that one scene during Fake Karakura where she uses it as a shield. If she ever managed to use that properly: she might be able to contain enough finess to manipulate it in a way that doesn't involve attacking. Even in just her Shikai state: imagine using the ability of the ash to physically hold people and objects without harming them (similar to Smokers White Out attack from One Piece) or else manifest into a solid for to attack in ways other then a blade. Senbon Zakura would still be vastly more powerful as an attack: but Rangikus would be much more versatile for other uses.
as much as I dun like tetsuzaemon, he did become a captain at the end of the tybw arc, so there's something about his zanpaktou that Kubo didn't show us, so it's hard to judge

@@bf5496 Ikkaku did say that he trained really hard. Iba said he wanted to be an "all-around man" and not concentrate on one thing. Ikkaku also hinted that Iba's mother was a powerful being. I think his ma (whom Iba didn't get along with) was Unohana.

I think Hisagomaru could have seen some really creative uses, seeing as it heals both physical wounds but “wounds of the heart” which lead to hollofication as seen in the anime; which could have been used to redeem/transform some arrancar characters like Haribel, Nel and Ulquiorra, or against Gerard Valkyrie who gained power from injuries he sustained it could have been used to revert him back to a more manageable state repeatedly.
For Tenken, I'd argue that Komamura is the problem and the Zanpakutou is stronger then we see. It mimics its user exactly, so it depends on the user's speed, if say Yoruichi used Flash Step with this thing it'd move so fast everything would be gone. But Komamura is a tank so giving him more power but also an easier target just doesn't help either.
on zanpaktou rebellion arc, all captains including Zaraki and SoiFon respect and acknowledge the power of Tenken. they all know how powerful Tenken can be

@@SantiagoOXfir So? Kenpachi has been hinted at having more raw force then Yamamoto and even Aizen didn't want to fight him without the Hyogku as the novels confirm. Being weaker then him is normal, besides some forms of Ichigo, Transcendent Aizen, Bach,a nd the Soul King Zaraki may just have the most raw strength of any character(Not to say he'd beat everyone in a fight, raw strength isn't all there is).
I think a lot of this list isn't weak zanpakutos, but weak wielders. You can't really separate them, but it's interesting that for some you take that into consideration and for others not. For Tobiume for example you take into account that someone not as skilled as Hinamori couldn't do that much with it, but for Omaida you fail to see that the fragility of his shikai is directly linked to Omaida being genuinely not that strong.
THANK YOU. I thought I was the only one seeing that this list had so many flaws and honestly poorly thought. He even put in their Zanpactos which Kubo never showed what they could achieve or do and judges them by the context in the story : Lisa vs Aizen (he says it gets cut in half). Bad list imo
agreed. think......if Unohana got Tenken, she basically have an immortal engine of destruction since the bankai is going to heal when she heals herself. or if Mayuri gets his hands on Haineko, he'll have a lovely time doing surgery inside the opponent with it. or if Yoruichi gets Hisagomaru, she can tank and spank and use the blade to heal herself until she can unleash that powerful burst. as for Tobiume.....what it lacks is Riatsu power, plenty of utility as the fireball got some unique properties, but it needed someone a lot more powerful
Omaida himself is a guy who looks big and tough on the surface (or at least his own mental image), so naturally his Zanpakutou is the same way. I had always thought that Tobiume was a kido amplifier.
You say that Kurumadani's Zanpakutō is barely offensive. I'd be willing to bet that anyone that had it used against them would find it *highly* offensive.
@@miles309 it was actually used in the light novel Can't fear your own world(I know he was only using the Manga for point of reference) by Tokinada with Enkosen which let's him copy shikai abilities he's seen. In that fight he shows that Kurumandanis zan is really effective with a more powerful wielder causing huge fissures and flinging rocks at the multiple captains who came to fight it. Coincidentally it also shows in that fight thst Kyoka Suigetsu while being amazing still was only as strong as it was because of Aizen. It outlines he needs a thing to cast the illusion on (like another person or rubble) and that it takes effort to keep the illusion locked on a person as it's lifted in one instance when Tokinada gets pressured. Just bringing it up because the wielder definitely does play into the versatility and strength of the zanpakuto.
Yeah, for the cost of feeding on the user’s soul, the Tsuniyashiro family zanpakutou can mimic (almost) any zanpakutou shikai in existence, and the effects scale to the reiatsu of the user. In the hands of a captain level shinigami like Tokinada, hisagomaru allowed him to regenerate an arm! Pretty damn useful. It was also interesting to see some of the highest tier zanpakutou used to a lesser extent than their original wielders. Kyoraku notes that Ryujin Jaka in Tokinada’s hands pales in comparison to Yama. Even more interestingly, since Tokinada leagues below Aizen’s level of reiatsu, aura is able to subdue his mimicry of Kyoka Suigetsu by reiatsu crushing it
I agree with versatility being an important part of a zanpaktou’s power. But what’sthe point where overwhelming ability in one area makes up for a lack of versatility? Nozarashi isn’t the most versatile but I don’t think anyone would consider it to be anywhere near this list. Great vid btw
Yea it's one of those things where the strength of the soul reaper really determines the strength of the zanpakuto, at least to a certain extent. If you gave kenpachi hiyori's zanpakuto he'd still be a monster. Give hanataro Aizens shikai and top tier characters wouldn't even be affected by it since according to aizen an extreme reiatsu gap can negate zanpkuto abilities.
Well you can't compare the 2 captains. If Kenpachi wasn't the Kenpachi, he'd be a fairly strong, but ultimately would be one note like Komamura. Sajin is Kenny without his immense power

@@lord_haven1114 I have to disagree with them being equal in strength. Kenpachi ate 2 bankais with his eye patch in place and he didn't know the name of his zanpakuto yet. Even if Komamura was still around, he'd be hard pressed to keep up with a fully fleshed out Kenny. His power is so intense in bankai that it begins to rip his body apart. I can agree it's plot armor, but that's how he was designed and how his arc was utilized. Even Yamamoto stated that with proper training, Kenpachi may very well surpass the head captain. He was called THE Kenpachi by the 1st Kenpachi who sacrificed herself to unleash his full strength. I think human Komamura would be decimated by Kenny's bankai and that's the strongest Komamura gets

My theory behind Heineko, is that it was modified by Gin Ichimaru giving her part of his soul, after Aizen stole some of it, which is why both their Zanpakuto take the form of particles. It also explains why Rangiku hasn't developed a Bankai, even though she is very close with her Zanpakuto Spirit and an older member of the Gotei 13.
It is very possible that Gin's Bankai was incomplete, lacking the control necessary to use it like Heineko. Gin was mostly a threat because of his martial skill as a Shinigami, being the only member of Aizen's faction that didn't get a power boost from the Hogyoku.

I think Rangiku's Haineko could potential be a very dangerous Zanpakuto if she practiced with it more. Imagine if she were to make it into a invisible dust cloud that her enemies would unknowingly inhale entering the lungs and bloodstream which would then allow her to shred their lungs, blood vessels, and other organs from the inside out. It would be like a more subtle version of Senbonzakura.

I actually suspect that her blade is much more dangerous than people assume. Remember, her powers are a product of Gin transplanting his reitsu into her to keep her alive after Aizen attacked her, which is why her blade shares its dust theme with his (ie. both shikai involve their blades turning into dust to attack at long range). If her bankai follows this pattern, it's likely that her blade's release will gain lethal poison, which is a really scary threat given the damage that Gin's poison did to even somebody like Aizen.

I actually disagree with the placement of Hisagemaru. If we take into account the fact that the user is extremely unskilled and has a low power level, then the weapon actually scales pretty well in comparison. We can’t forget that the user is extremely low ranked and therefore has a weak spiritual pressure. In the hands of a skilled combatant with experience it would be very impressive as they would be able to heal their own injuries in the midst of combat while retaliating with an overpowered counterattack. This weapon, given that the user does not receive a fatal blow, can potentially ensure that the user never dies in the middle of combat. It is essentially like Unohana’s fighting style automatically. Without having to waste your time with actual healing Kido. Not only is the healing instant, but we haven’t even seen the limits of what they can heal. For example with detached limbs.
No mention (or did I miss it?) of Yoruichi's? For someone so strong, and for Zanpakto to be so integral to a character, she notably never uses it, and it's said in Can't Fear Your Own World that using it is basically a downgrade for her. I think you're overly harsh on Heineko, especially since you've made previous comparisons of it to Senbonzakura, and every time we've seen Matsumoto use it, it has been incredibly valuable and has some insane potential for powerful move sets if Matsumoto becomes more powerful.
Yoruichi's Zanpakuto is a generational Zanpakuto, like Nanao's. She had to leave it with the Shihoin Clan, which they will pass on after the next Head of the Clan is officially recognized. Soifon is only the Captain of the Stealth Force, not actually the Head of the Shihoin Clan.
Wait I just changed my thoughts on the medical scale Zanpaktuo. That weapon is amazing. All he really needs is to use kiddo attacks and fight in groups. He heals his allies and himself as they all get damaged and when the gauge fills up, he has an almighty blast attack that can potentially be used as a fuel for a kiddo attack. It’s just not developed enough and the wielder is a bit of a timid type.
For how much screen time she gets, I really wish Rangiku's Haineko could get some development. Due to being composed of billions of ash particles, its potential should be on par, if not greater, than Senbozakura. Imagine if she could create objects with the cloud of bladed/metal ash, like spears, shields or a sort of localized ash hailstorm to shred the opponents, possibly infiltrating their wounds and mouth and kill them from the inside out, like Senjomaru did to the distortion Quincy.
And Bankai wouldn't even be out of the question, since the Zanpakuto Rebellion even gave both her and Haineko a nice chance to bond. And since Rangiku is one of the most seasoned vice-captains in the series, it's so sad to see her be underused.
Note: also, Fire Force showed us what an ash user can do if they are taken more seriously, so it leaves me a bit butthurt as I love Rangiku.

I'm assuming that applies to Soul society too or she died young in the living world. This is speculation on my part but I assume that Aizen didn't know what it was at the time but that it was special since its basically what the Hogyoku is powered by he didn't know it had a will

This list is confusing. You say you're not taking the shinigami into account, just the zanpakuto, but aren't the abilities of a zanpakuto a result of the the shinigami's soul being reflected on an asauchi? i.e. if Renji had Senbonzakura and Byakuya had Zabimaru, wouldn't the zanpakuto be fundamentally different from the ones we know?

Interesting video in my opinion , l'm quite new to the series soo l'm interested to see some new charwcters and some new zampakuto's in the future and also bankai's .
What about the guy with flying shuriken zanpakuto that get bodied by Ishida in soul society arc. Also if we’re talking pre tybw you can put Unohana there as the only thing the sword does is heal but it requires ingesting the target. I guess it does provide flight/ transportation of the wounded.
It’s fascinating that the reason why these are weak have to do entirely with the characters themselves.
I’ve often thought Zanpakto like Aizen’s Kyoka Suigetsu were so fucking busted because they won the spirit lottery. But as we see in CFYOW, it’s the *users* that truly evolve and change their Zanpakto to make them powerful

I always thought that Rangiku's Zanpakuto would have attained more impressive power if A. she hadn't had some of her power stolen from her by Aizen and B. if she actually trained and worked with it. I think its stated in the show that both she and her sword like her are a bit lazy.
Ikkaku has the only repaired bankai. I always got the impression the rangiku's shikai was a water down version of gin's. I, maybe misguidedly thought momo's fireballs could be combined with kido as an ability but idk. Ok, your no 1 pick does show. Fourth instance of an "attack" that all elementals show, a capture technique. He used earth "pillars" in a similar fashion to hitsu and yama, not as flashy as even rukia's but it is an earth type.
It is said that Matsumoto is alive because Gin gave a part of his soul to her after Aizen runs her of her own. Hence why her Zanpacto turns to mist like Ichimaru’s Bankai does.
Funny how Renji takes so many Ls in the canon story. In the Bleach games, Zabimaru is powerful because it's both fast and can strike long-range. Renji even beats Byakuya in one of the filler arcs. He has potential, but Kubo likes to fuck him.
I think 1st place will for suitable enruyu's sanpacho , because it isn't for fighting itself , it is just for running away from their enemy .

to be fair, for a good deal of them, it's just bad users, especially those who have weak Riatsu.
Zabimaru: the Bankai actually got a pretty powerful cannon built into it, and the blade is an excellent zoning weapon. This requires a strategic fighter who excels at fighting at a distance, not Renji. Ideal User: Ichimaru Gin
Tenken: it's a big, destructive monster, and it gets healed when you get healed, so say....if you are a master healer, you have an immortal giant stand that can destroy everything in its path. Ideal user: Unohana Retsu
Haineko: It is the "cheap" Senbonzakura, but it is still something to be feared, just imagine razor-sharp dust tearing you up from the inside( you can't inhale Senbonzakura, you can inhale Haineko), and the dust can be coated with poison and other substances, but I doubt Rangiku is willing to go that far. Ideal user: Kurusuchi Mayori
Tobiume: the fireball seems to be able to have some homing properties and can travel through Kido and maybe even other conductive substances, a master tactician with a lot of Riatsu to spare can turn it into something quite fearsome. Ideal user: Urahara Kisuke
Hisagomaru: easy, DMC5 Royal guard, jump into the fight, use the blade to heal yourself while tanking hits from your opponent, then launch a powerful attack. Of course, this would require a user that is physically tough, pain resistant, and battle-hungry, which Hanataro definitely isn't. Ideal User: Shihoin Yoruichi

My only 2 issues. Take Tobiume off this list explosive fireballs are not weak and shes uses them in versatile ways.
Put Gegtsuburi at number 1. Tsuchinamazu has an ability that is useful and on an average opponent would work
With the #1 worse, maybe it's the wielder's problem. It forces riatsu into the ground and shatters and tears apart the ground, what happens if that hits a person instead of the ground?
What about Tetsuzaemon Iba's Zanpakuto (is like Zabimaru and Kubikiri Orochi, but not as good. Then again, Iba became a captain with it), and Zangetsu?
Getsuga tenshou is a pretty strong attack. The shikai is ultimately fine.

Zangetsu is just a giant meat cleaver that shots energy, the incomplete Bankai give a physical boost and we have no idea what the Real Bankai does (apart from shooting a kamehameha like attack)
@@maximilianosanchez1106 look at the video context to see how power is spoken about. Such as yamada. Does the power actually have any impact on its own was more of the big thing. And ultimately the getsuga tenshou gets a ton done in a fight despite not being versatile. While most of the lieutenants have clearly superior versions of their own zanpaktous or ultimately does very little.
Kenpachis shikai is literally just a meat cleaver but clearly it’s power makes it so it isn’t bad. Hioris is a neat cleaver and it’s bad because it doesn’t do anything of note. Not any noticeable power boost and no increased effectiveness. It’s just there. Getsuga tenshou is just that relevant similar to how nozarashis powerbboost is also just that relevant.
We dont even know Iba's Zanpakuto's name. We know littereally nothing about it. Same with Itegumo.
Had this Zanpakuto been properly showcased we might have gotten something pretty crazy

Think popping Haineko on this list is a bit harsh, obviously we'll never know but mini Senbonzakura is about right.
The weapon has scary potential and she's still a lieutenant, I imagine Byakuya at lieutenant level would have been just as scary as Rangiku.
I actually suspect that her blade is much more dangerous than people assume. Remember, her powers are a product of Gin transplanting his reitsu into her to keep her alive after Aizen attacked her, which is why her blade shares its dust theme with his (ie. both shikai involve their blades turning into dust to attack at long range). If her bankai follows this pattern, it's likely that her blade's release will gain lethal poison, which is a really scary threat given the damage that Gin's poison did to even somebody like Aizen.
I disagree with your assessment on Yachiru. Even it hits the same place 3 times, it seems to be at the wielder's strength. Meaning it at the very least triples the hitting power. Also don't forget that one of the potentially invisible strikes hits before Yachiru's swing. It would be hard to block something that hits slightly before or after you think it's coming.
I honestly wish ikkaku got his bankai repaired in order to get another chance to shine I liked the concept the concept of the weapon having to “wake up” and essentially ram up and would have loved to see what a reforged version of the concept would look like.

Actually Ichigo's tensa zangetsu is not really that strong, it just makes him much faster and the reason he can defeat stronger opponent using his bankai is just because of the plot.
If we are only going off what Tsuchinamazu does in the manga, I agree. If Zennosuke has trained with it, he might be able to manipulate earth with more skill, but that’s just speculation. Zennosuke might be weak and a joke character, but he’s not dumb. He must have known that he couldn’t stand up to Aizen.
what about that 4th or 7th seat shinigami that first show Uryuu what a shikai is at the start of the series ? that one that spam fly shuriken's or portions of his zanpakuto
on the side note, many of the zanpakuto in this list is mainly the weakness of the user, which we cant see them fully utilized the zanpakuto to its potential. For one, i dont think Tsuchinamazu 's power is to create the earth cage. Its probably utilizing earth, similar to Naruto's Doton, he probably could use it to create Earth spikes and other stuff, but Aizen is simply too strong for any attack, so Zennosuke only focus on escaping and try to block Aizen's vision so that he can attempt escape. Gegetsuburi is fragile probably due to the user, as we know shikai bankai's strength can be affected by user, probably both reiatsu and mentally. Suifon's shikai cant kill Aizen with her sure-death shikai's effect as her reiatsu is simply too weak compare to Aizen. Gegetsuburi probably suffered the same problem, Omaida is weak both in reiatsu and mentallly. He often look for ways to escape than resolve to fight. Zanpakuto is a reflection of the user, as such, Gegetsuburi's fragility is a reflection of that Omaida's fragile resolve and his weak reiatsu. Weak reiatsu causing fragility of shikai and bankai is probably true for Hozokimaru as Ikkaku's reiatsu isnt as strong as other captains and vice captains' reiatsu.
I mean Tokinada kinda showed that Hisagomaru can be useful if you're actually a fighter, issue is Hanataro is not a fighter at all.
Also Zennosuke's worked well for Tokinada as well.
I could see your reasonings for most but #3 seemed a little outa place to me. I don’t wanna get to head cannon but imagine if he just used the healing ability on himself to get to his big attack. I feel like there’s a lot of possibilities to use it offensively if you wished. Even without that just the healing ability is arguably stronger than the rest of these abilities.

I thought wabisuke would have made this list honestly. Most of the time Kira uses it it doesn't seem that useful but I guess that's down to the wielder, because the one time he did use it right it was one of the most badass moments.
Yumichika is such an odd character. Punishes his Zanpakuto and purposefully makes it weaker, leaves the fourth seat vacant because he prefers the Kanji for 5 and nobody else is qualified for the fourth seat. Such a weirdly, stubbornly proud guy. I'm surprised Zaraki put up with him.

To be honest when Omaeda originally released that giant mace, I was thinking it would have something to do with weight manipulation. Mostly because his captain is this small ultra fast lady, so I thought he would be weight based.

Honestly I think some of these zanpakuto are just not used creatively (at least as much as they should). Take heineko, you would breathing in this ash would be an obvious strategy. Why not combine it with a fire kido to help burn better? I mean if she was half as good as byakuya it'd be even better. Or how about tenken? I mean if we're being real here he should only use his shikai in 1v1s, summoning phantom looking body parts individually sounds way smarter than summoning a gigantic target, unless, A, you're fighting a giant, B, you're fighting an army weaker than you. And if you summon those smaller body parts as if they were your own you could use it infinitely easier with better precision. Also if it's as ghostly as it looks, you won't have to worry about your knuckles getting cut as you're slashing or maybe you can retract as fast as it was summoned. Nothing says he can't summon other body parts too, so maybe he could knock back an opponent with his other arm if he's opened up by slashing. Most surprisingly though, can't this zanpakuto use kido? It's just a reflection right? So theoretically couldn't he make a gigantic hado or bakudo with his giant arm? I am shocked that this hasn't been shown in at least one panel, it's not like it's ever been explicitly stated he can't right? What about tobiume? I would think it could be used as a more tactful zanpakuto, yama's. She could use it like roy mustang, and Guila, setting up traps with slow moving exploding fire balls, or very pinpoint accurate shots with small fireballs, to explode a hollow's eyes or something. Maybe a technique, that drives her sword into the ground or atmosphere to create several fireballs that explode like a minefield. If there is a specific reason as to why they can't do that then i'll just chalk it up to the characters not being creative enough. You should do a video on how to improve some of these zanpakuto.

I’d say Zaraki’s Zanpakuto should’ve made the list cause it’s just a sword or a meat cleaver shikai and bankai form. The only reason the Zanpakuto looks decent is because of Zaraki’s own power wich knows no bounds. Give that sword to anyone else they’d suck with it. Zaraki is juste that force of nature that could use a butter knife and cut the earth in half with it. He basically just a berserker and yeah the sword fits him but even then in the bankai form if it gives too much power to Zaraki his own body can’t handle it just try to imagine anyone else going into bankai and basically just exploding from the inside.
I mean for me it proves that lot of these zanpakutos because their wielders don’t specialize in sword fighting, a lot rely on kido, kaido or being assassin, some through self defense and some are just not challenged to truly master their abilities. ikakku sadly idolizes a reckless powerhouse who doesn’t have a strong connection with his sword. His connection to his own sword is weak and since he is so immature it makes sense how fragile it is. Renji still hadn’t mastered his bankai and kind of forced his sword past its breaking point. Matsumoto doesn’t have a strong connection to her blade and she’s never really been given a reason to be stronger. An issue a lot of the side characters have. Hiyori relies heavily on her mask and thus has probably created a rift with her sword. Yachiru lacks maturity too and Momo would probably have a better connection with Tobiume if she finally decided to work with the kido corps and Hanatoro does have the issue of his brother having a stronger version of his sword

Personally, I think that Hisagomaru doesnt deserve to be on here. True, its usage is very specific, but in the hands of just about anyone, it would make for an ungodly useful addition to any battlegroup. Its user can heal everyone around them easily and then unleash fairly powerful attacks, before resealing the sword and restarting the cycle. I really dont see why that wouldnt work because its not like a Soul Reaper cant reseal their Zanpakuto after unleashing it. So long as they have some skill in Kido and/or Hakuda, its weakness of not being able to actually do much damage outside of the energy blast is mitigated. Plus, basic rules for any party, PROTECT THE FUCKING HEALER!
I have never understood why the actual hell Omaida is a Lieutenant at all. I mean, he does show during the Battle for Karakura town that he isnt as useless as he appears, but he just flat out doesnt seem like the sort of person who should be allowed in a position like that.
A lot of the times when the zanpakuto break it's not the zanpakuto's fault, it's the owners fault...
Almost very time a zanpakuto breaks it's usually due to the owner being completely outclassed by a stronger opponent.
When Grand fisher becomes an Arrancar he brags about how big his sword is as a result of his power... which Isshin laughs at because soul reapers compress their energy into their blades to keep them small, meaning the physical strength of a sword (in terms of breaking and cracking) is directly linked to the wielder's power.
In weapon based combat, spears, maces, swords, shields etc all have very impactful uses and advantages, obviously this isn't really a main factor in Shonen battle anime where weapon types and styles are usually just cosmetic, but if we're arguing base weapons that don't have cool effects as weakest, Ichigo's is just a big clunky sword that can shoot a energy blast sometimes, and his bankai is just a normal sword with a power boost "it's lighter so me go faster"
Hiyori Sarugaki's zanpakuto is practically just a serrated alt version of Ichigo's... minus the getsuga tenshou's
When (the mace guy) Marechiyo Ōmaeda's zanpakuto breaks against Ichigo, it's a clear show that he has far surpassed lieutenant rank and is capable of contending with a captain, I'd also argue he was outclassed in the fight against the hollow.
In reality this weapon would be so heavy and impact full you wouldn't be able to block it with a sword and if you did it'd shatter the sword (but obviously Shonen logic makes that not the case)
As for spear bearers, they should far outrange swords, meaning they can safely attack from so far away the enemy can't return fire, but also will be less effective at close range, but Ikkaku has the range but also a close range variation that substitutes the range for a slightly better close range matchup.
This does actually take place in the fight vs Ichigo, but they never really account for it ever again...
(his bankai is still designed with the intention of looks over effectiveness though)
The stick part is weak but again a lot of the times the weapon's break the user is out classed or against a gimmick (the lucky punch guy who auto crits every hit... and literally Aizen cutting the Visard girls spear...)
Obviously the stick part is a clear weakness, but the user shouldn't be letting them just snap it like that... which seems more like a user issue.
I'd argue that the fights for the pillars in fake Karakura town where very hollow favoured, and the soul reapers had like 3rd/5th seat people fighting against fairly strong hollows. which could also be an excuse for why Ikkaku's breaks again sadly
Plus you have to realise some zanpakuto are for fighters (witch will just be better at hitting things) and some are for kido users (which will have fancy effects and skills). Usually depending on the person
So a Kido based zanpakuto will always be linked to how skilled the caster is, I feel like this is very much the case for someone like momo
I think hineko is one of the better shikai in the series. I just think Rangiku uses it wrong imo. Seems better suited for a stealth/tactical uses. Not much for random attacking.
It’s more for utility and crowd control than offensive. The offensive capabilities seems more like an added feature that makes the zanpakuto have multi uses.
unpopular one here. but Zaraki's BEFORE TTYBW is really just a sword. all the cutting power and damage it does comes from Zaraki's ridiculous reiatsu.
It might just be my own logic, but Ikaku always seemed like his Zanpakuto is stifled because of his reverence of Kenpachi. He's a guy who sees his hero do everything with his own strength and neglected his own sword bond because of it. Sure, he made it to Bankai, but that just seems like he wants to prove how strong he is as a person and his spirit was too lazy to help him move past that. His weapon is fragile because it feels like it's only a tool wielded by a guy who idolizes a guy who wields a sword that isn't even his own.
I guess Gegetsuburi also falls into this. Just like it's wielder, it's projects strength from a distance but has nothing backing it up. It's all bark and no bite.
I don't think the 5th is justified, because being the zanpakuto of a zanpakuto is already amazing.
If all these Zanpakuto wielders are captain levels, how good would it be? As a shikai, Kyoka Suigetsu basically put others in shame but looking at these none captain levels, it's mostly a transformed physical weapon.
It really depends on the user. Like say for instance if Yamamoto had Renjis Zanpakuto it would be way stronger than it was wielded by Renji. And if Renji had Yamamotos Zanpakuto it would be significantly weaker than it was wielded by Yamamoto.
I feel Rangiku could have used Haineko as a suffocating weapon! When she goes Shikai Rangiku could easily send the sand into the lungs of her opponent and shred them from the inside out. She could also fill their lungs with her sand until they can’t breathe

Right? Making your enemies inhale the ash is probably one of the best tactics to use with Haineko. I think they just didn’t want to make Rangiku too op? Imagine an ability that suffocates and chops you up from the inside.
Honestly it's a really versatile weapon, Rangiku didn't get too many chances to use it all out in a fair fight, but she could definitely make better use of it

I think there are more interesting abilities Kubo could have given Haineko's shikai form such as teleportation, ash clones, ash constructs and temporarily turning things into ash.

Hisagomaru would be the most OP weapon if it belonged to someone who's battle-minded. Hanataro could infinitely heal himself and constantly fire getsuga tenshou-like attacks.
Hanataro needed more screentime, he was so important in the Rukia rescue arc and then he was kinda swept aside 😭
Assuming Hanataro can heal himself, he can fill the gauge with his own injuries and attack. As he restores himself, he'd be a beast in hour-long fights.

I would argue that Rangiku's zanpakuto is limited more by her inability to use it properly rather than it being inherently weak. Had she been training with it as long as Byakuya had trained to use Senbonsakura, I imagine it would be just as good. Just my take on it.
That goes for almost all of these on the list except for the ones who just become big swords or just add strength to the user

Haineko is pretty much a senbonzakura been wielded by a less talented person , simple as that , the blade is fine , but Rangiku is simply not skilled enough.
Hanatarou is one that could be fine with his zampakutou if he was skilled in martial arts , because it's just a matter of fighting in an asauchi state , heal a bunch of wounds of himself in shikai to use in the enemy and them continues on asauchi. For a medical division character , it's useful enough.

Ikkaku’s was one of the most impressive shinigami at the time. Imagine if instead of making him look like shit, Vaste Lorde would’ve have been that strong? The story would’ve been so much better. We would’ve feared the espada.

It really makes you wonder how Omaeda made the Stealth Force at all. Sure he's shown himself to be wholesome smuggling in people from the worst areas of the Rukon after the war but still, that Zanpakuto seems only fit for crushing and forming diamonds as he does in his postwar occupation.

I honestly wonder if Ikkaku's bankai was hurt by its immature nature. It had power, but its brittle nature might have to do with how much Ikkaku himself needs to grow before he reaches his full potential, much like how Renji reached his potential near the end of the story.
He only reached full potential because ichibe told him.
Ikkaku's bankai suffered because of Ikkaku himself, no one else. Had he bothered training, he wouldn't have been pressed into becoming a captain while having a fully realized zanpaktou. Renji is hands down among the stronger members of the gotei and everyone knows he has a bankai, yet he's still serving as Byakuya's lieutenant so Ikkaku being afraid of being promoted comes across as hollow.

People don't give Renji enough credit, he is basically Bleach's Piccolo, being a technical fighter but not being written well to emphasize his strength. For example, we see that Zabimaru can be used to corner an opponent by manipulating the battlefield, as Renji did against Espada #8.
Piccolo could easily use Multiform and Special Beam Cannon to overcome power gaps, as his Ki control is the best out of all of DBZ, able to create a weak attack that can be lethal, due to its structure,like Krillin's Destructo Disc.
Hanataro has a super powerful shikai, particularly for a kido user or a hakudo user. It's effectively self sustain. You can tank anything that doesn't kill you by healing yourself and ultimately turning all that damage into an attack.

*Theory:* Ichigo's Bankai seen at the end was actually his Shikai, since Juha Bach absorbed his Quincy Powers and his hollow powers were already merged with his Zanpakuto. This sets up another Arc where Ichigo can relearn his Bankai and still get a significant nerf, just like at the end of the Fake Karakura Town Arc.
*Note:* Ichigo's power was also unstable usually, having explosive highs and extreme lows, as his 3 powers fought to gain balance. This is also why he had to wake up his Quincy Powers, in his fight with Juha Bach, so that he could properly integrate it before going into Bankai, to increase the stability of his power.
*Edit:* Ichigo never actually learned how to use his Bankai, it was always his Quincy Powers that forced cooperation. With his Quincy Powers gone, he has to relearn his Bankai, as it no longer has his Quincy Powers intertwined with it, making its internal composition and abilities different.

I probably have to remind you that Aizen stole something from Mastsumoto when she was young. And it may be what he stole was her true potential with her zanpakuto. So what we see her used is a pale shadow of a true power, yet she was still Able to rise to the level of a lieutenant and be respected as one of the best Soul Reapers in the soul Society

@@mannythelazyguy6529 Yeah... but he said he would assess the abilities of a zanpakuto. Not how well mastered they were by their user or how large the user’s reiatsu was. Why would a "mastered" Hihio Zabimaru be clumsy at all, given that it isn't the only massive bankai? While there seems to be a range limit, is there a position limit on Tenken being summoned? That adds a lot to its versatility. Additionally, is it harder for a user to swing their sword, or does Tenken feel as light as swinging a normal sword? Since Kokujo Tengen Myo'o heals with the user, could this symbiotic relationship be used to greater effect by learning kaido (healing kido) to prolong time on the battlefield similar to why Unohana even picked up the skill to begin with? I could go on. Things like this are what a video on the weakest zanpakuto is overlooking, imo.

Zabimaru is a kinda weak. I wanted Renji to surpass byakuya a little after Renji obtained bankai but all we get to see is Zabimaru getting smashed to pieces. His moves are cool with the weapon but most powerful weapons in this show aren't the huge ones
Nanao's Shinken Hakkyoken should be on this list. It literally is only useful in 1 situation, which is against a God made out of light which conveniently turns out to be Lil Baro.
Her zanpakuto is basically plot armor materialised into a weapon.
It's useful against all gods who attack against her while she's using the blade. It's been hinted that it separated the SK originally.
@@boxiannn her zampakutou is useful to all gods , so while it is a plot armor materialised , it's useful enough , as Bleach had plenty of gods as long you are powered-up from a fragment of the SK.
@@boxiannn That's not entirely true, as Nanao's Family is an established pillar of Soul Society, from the very beginning of the Series, which was precisely for that weapon and the role their Clan is supposed to play.
You could argue that out of all of the Soul Society, only her Family could slay Juha Bach, after absorbing the Soul King, or Butterfly-Aizen, so they have a solid position in the Soul Society.
Why can't she use it to kill Aizen?
Or Yhwach?

You missed a kinda key point about Rangeku's blade--it's a derivative of Gin's (remember, he saved her after Aizen and his people attacked her by basically being what Rukia did to Ichigo, and transplanting some of his reitsu into her to keep her spiritual form from collapsing), and thus could be extremely scary if her Bankai parallels his the same way her shikai does. If her blade follows the same pattern his does, turning to dust to act as a long-range weapon in the shikai, and then gaining lethal poison in the bankai, her blade could be unbelievably lethal. Imagine if Byakuya's blade shards had Gin's poison, never mind what that poison's effects look like for anybody who isn't Aizen.
Something I always had in mind for Heinako is that one scene during Fake Karakura where she uses it as a shield. If she ever managed to use that properly: she might be able to contain enough finess to manipulate it in a way that doesn't involve attacking. Even in just her Shikai state: imagine using the ability of the ash to physically hold people and objects without harming them (similar to Smokers White Out attack from One Piece) or else manifest into a solid for to attack in ways other then a blade.
Senbon Zakura would still be vastly more powerful as an attack: but Rangikus would be much more versatile for other uses.
I'd say the honorable mention should be Iba's nameless zanpakto, we never saw any particular ability and at least yumishika showcased his true ability
as much as I dun like tetsuzaemon, he did become a captain at the end of the tybw arc, so there's something about his zanpaktou that Kubo didn't show us, so it's hard to judge

@@bf5496 Ikkaku did say that he trained really hard. Iba said he wanted to be an "all-around man" and not concentrate on one thing. Ikkaku also hinted that Iba's mother was a powerful being. I think his ma (whom Iba didn't get along with) was Unohana.

I think Hisagomaru could have seen some really creative uses, seeing as it heals both physical wounds but “wounds of the heart” which lead to hollofication as seen in the anime; which could have been used to redeem/transform some arrancar characters like Haribel, Nel and Ulquiorra, or against Gerard Valkyrie who gained power from injuries he sustained it could have been used to revert him back to a more manageable state repeatedly.
That use against Gerard would have been genius
For Tenken, I'd argue that Komamura is the problem and the Zanpakutou is stronger then we see. It mimics its user exactly, so it depends on the user's speed, if say Yoruichi used Flash Step with this thing it'd move so fast everything would be gone. But Komamura is a tank so giving him more power but also an easier target just doesn't help either.
on zanpaktou rebellion arc, all captains including Zaraki and SoiFon respect and acknowledge the power of Tenken. they all know how powerful Tenken can be

Also of course remember Komamura is a serious Captain, he can take on 99% of the cast with his bare hands and by extension Tenken is as strong as well. We are just talking about the weapon in a practical sense and comparatively or else there's no way someone like Komamura or Renji are here at al;/

@@SantiagoOXfir So? Kenpachi has been hinted at having more raw force then Yamamoto and even Aizen didn't want to fight him without the Hyogku as the novels confirm. Being weaker then him is normal, besides some forms of Ichigo, Transcendent Aizen, Bach,a nd the Soul King Zaraki may just have the most raw strength of any character(Not to say he'd beat everyone in a fight, raw strength isn't all there is).

I think a lot of this list isn't weak zanpakutos, but weak wielders. You can't really separate them, but it's interesting that for some you take that into consideration and for others not.
For Tobiume for example you take into account that someone not as skilled as Hinamori couldn't do that much with it, but for Omaida you fail to see that the fragility of his shikai is directly linked to Omaida being genuinely not that strong.
I think Hinamori relied more on kidou. She seems to have neglected her zanpaktou, perhaps deliberately.
THANK YOU. I thought I was the only one seeing that this list had so many flaws and honestly poorly thought. He even put in their Zanpactos which Kubo never showed what they could achieve or do and judges them by the context in the story : Lisa vs Aizen (he says it gets cut in half). Bad list imo
agreed. think......if Unohana got Tenken, she basically have an immortal engine of destruction since the bankai is going to heal when she heals herself. or if Mayuri gets his hands on Haineko, he'll have a lovely time doing surgery inside the opponent with it. or if Yoruichi gets Hisagomaru, she can tank and spank and use the blade to heal herself until she can unleash that powerful burst. as for Tobiume.....what it lacks is Riatsu power, plenty of utility as the fireball got some unique properties, but it needed someone a lot more powerful
Omaida himself is a guy who looks big and tough on the surface (or at least his own mental image), so naturally his Zanpakutou is the same way.
I had always thought that Tobiume was a kido amplifier.

I feel like that zanpakuto has room to improve it’s an earth elemental zanpakuto so if used right it could be offensive, defensive, or supplementary
@@miles309 it was actually used in the light novel Can't fear your own world(I know he was only using the Manga for point of reference) by Tokinada with Enkosen which let's him copy shikai abilities he's seen. In that fight he shows that Kurumandanis zan is really effective with a more powerful wielder causing huge fissures and flinging rocks at the multiple captains who came to fight it.
Coincidentally it also shows in that fight thst Kyoka Suigetsu while being amazing still was only as strong as it was because of Aizen. It outlines he needs a thing to cast the illusion on (like another person or rubble) and that it takes effort to keep the illusion locked on a person as it's lifted in one instance when Tokinada gets pressured.
Just bringing it up because the wielder definitely does play into the versatility and strength of the zanpakuto.
Hisagomaru was useful in the hands of Tokinada as part of his weird zanpakuto
Yeah, for the cost of feeding on the user’s soul, the Tsuniyashiro family zanpakutou can mimic (almost) any zanpakutou shikai in existence, and the effects scale to the reiatsu of the user. In the hands of a captain level shinigami like Tokinada, hisagomaru allowed him to regenerate an arm! Pretty damn useful.
It was also interesting to see some of the highest tier zanpakutou used to a lesser extent than their original wielders. Kyoraku notes that Ryujin Jaka in Tokinada’s hands pales in comparison to Yama.
Even more interestingly, since Tokinada leagues below Aizen’s level of reiatsu, aura is able to subdue his mimicry of Kyoka Suigetsu by reiatsu crushing it

Yea it's one of those things where the strength of the soul reaper really determines the strength of the zanpakuto, at least to a certain extent. If you gave kenpachi hiyori's zanpakuto he'd still be a monster.
Give hanataro Aizens shikai and top tier characters wouldn't even be affected by it since according to aizen an extreme reiatsu gap can negate zanpkuto abilities.
Well you can't compare the 2 captains. If Kenpachi wasn't the Kenpachi, he'd be a fairly strong, but ultimately would be one note like Komamura. Sajin is Kenny without his immense power

@@lord_haven1114 I have to disagree with them being equal in strength. Kenpachi ate 2 bankais with his eye patch in place and he didn't know the name of his zanpakuto yet. Even if Komamura was still around, he'd be hard pressed to keep up with a fully fleshed out Kenny. His power is so intense in bankai that it begins to rip his body apart. I can agree it's plot armor, but that's how he was designed and how his arc was utilized. Even Yamamoto stated that with proper training, Kenpachi may very well surpass the head captain. He was called THE Kenpachi by the 1st Kenpachi who sacrificed herself to unleash his full strength. I think human Komamura would be decimated by Kenny's bankai and that's the strongest Komamura gets
