    The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.

      I"ve been and around real estate for over 50 years. I learned more in this1 hour than that whole time. Thanks for introducing me to Stephanie Kopp Meeks ..

      Great guest with very deep industry knowledge. So sad to hear additional examples (to me) of how statistics published by the government and also the main short-term rental sites (airbnb, etc) and even MLS! are flawed....keeping the retailed investor blind to the real market fundamentals.

      She is fantastic, and I truly loved her road trips to see the developments first hand and to dive into what was actually going on. Wonderful work. Reminiscent of the "Big Short" where those two actors went to houses that were owned by strippers, etc. etc.

    Looking for your opinion Josh. Sorry if this sounds a little silly because I know many people that are more financially advanced than me will laugh and put this off. I am a college student that has been investing 12% of my income. I am facing a current situation that I don’t know how to approach. I love cars it is my hobby I like researching, talking about, and driving them. I do not enjoy spending my money on any other activities going out to eat, other activities, etc. Is it unreasonable for me to inspire to have another BMW like my first car that costs me as much fire repairs and is equally reliable to my current 4 Runner that gives me no driving or car enthusiast satisfaction? This would be with several thousand dollars set aside for repairs meaning that I wouldn’t have to worry about scraping money together as a “broke college student” I know that I should technically invest it but wonder if this is what brings me joy while I don’t spend on any other treats to myself and I’m not scrounging to afford it, is this a reasonable want?

      If your work and investment habits are enough to achieve your future goals with a margin of safety and there's still excess resources left over, feel free to splurge. However, if you invest in yourself an productive assets, a decade from now you'll be shopping for something a lot more spirited than a BMW.

    Alex is great. I don't think his "investing" videos are direct to equities and what not; for example, the TL DR of his "investing advice I received from a billionaire" is to pour your money and time into something you understand and its subjective to each person rather than 1 solution fits all.

    • @JoshOlfertCFP

      You're absolutely right. His investing advice seems to be geared more towards startups and private investments.

      @zhahoo797 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoshOlfertCFP he means 60% is actually a really good win rate because you have 3 wins for every 2 losses hence 50%. it doesn't really illustrate the point of having asymmetric wins vs losses because with a 60% win rate your losses could actually be up to 1.5x larger than your wins and you'd still be profitable.

    Why would you respond on a dime? Aren’t you running a practice and meeting new clients? Maybe don’t miss your time block, or set expectations of 24 hours to the next business day so when you respond in a few hours because your busy doing other things it’s not a stressor to anyone

    • @JoshOlfertCFP
      @JoshOlfertCFP  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not one to cut off an in-person conversation to answer my phone and personally wouldn't recommend that to anyone. But I guess my point is that if you want to be elite at what you do it requires the stress and sacrifice of prioritizing your clients needs over your own.

    omg the rolex example... I feel like people are more stupid with the internet these days. People used to KNOW that they didn't know anything about investing, so they would consult a professional. Now they get constant "advice," that most of the time is terrible advice.

    Alex Hormozi just read something online 5 minutes before the video about investing. This guy is just another Fake Guru and people are still falling for it, like Andrew Tate, Grant Cardone etc..
