A fun day with family is priceless. Great scones
I spent one year in Skagit Valley. I spent the winter of 1980, 1981. I worked at the Hotel Planter when it was owned by the Stewart family. It was there where I learned the secret clam chowder recipe from Chef Ira, a Tarheel from North Carolina. I swear, it's the best chowder in the world. I had a great time living in La Conner. It has certainly changed a lot since then. I remember the La Conner Tavern, Brick Oven Pizza, the 1890's bar that had live music, and the signature seafood and steak restaurant. Author Tom Robbins was living there at that time. I was in a local art show with him at the Gaches Mansion.

The boat Norwestern that John Wayne once owned, was sold, and moved out of town, the new owners hit a rock out by Stuart Island in 2021, it sank and was a total loss. 🥵

La Conner Washington is one of my favorite places. I was given an oil painting of orca from art gallery for swimming with pod of 5 orcas. My friend bought $million lot in shelter bay across arch bridge in La Conner, so good times on yachts in canal!
It is a special place. It's nice that you have a piece of art to remind you of it.
@@seeking70degrees I'm in straight next to Stuart Island in rubber zodiac raft when I see 1 orca coming right at me. I found myself in water with 5 orcas fin to fin around me! Event changed my life! My wife's cousin married to lake Tahoe sheriff. When they visited us in La Conner an heard my story of orca encounter, they bought painting of orca for me.

We didn’t, but another viewer left a comment and said it was sold and the new owners hit a rock with it and sank it. So sad.
