I was about to pull the trigger on the SBGV207, but I changed my mind. That is because I discovered the SBGP005, which has a dial that looks black most of the time but, under the right light, reveals a deep-blue sunburst pattern. In addition it also has the 44GS case and 9F movement. GS has the most hypnotically beautiful dials out there.
You omitted the 8J56 movement, which many consider even better than the 9F. It’s available at an awesome price, features a textured dial, 200m water resistance, and lume. Definitely check out the SBJF series 🤩
The work you put into these videos definitely shows through. Keep up the good work! Ive been looking at Christopher Ward a lot recently. $1-2k would probably be a Sealander GMT or. C60 Trident Lumiere on a rubber strap.
I have reached out to Seiko trying to get my hands on that watch for a review! Probably won't hear back from them but you never know! Thank you for commenting!
Fine vid man! I got my 1st quartz in 1977. A hybrid Seiko. Analog time keeper with a small bar on top that ran the Stop Watch, Alarm, Date, and a second completely independent digital clock. My 2nd Seiko was the 1st all analog quartz chronograph….1985. I’ve been collecting since I was 15. 1st watch was a bi-compax Heuer with a bi-directional World Timer bezel. A PERFECT 1st Officer’s watch. Handle radios, flaps, & gear. The watch would have been to track intercontinental time changes and the 30 minute totalizer for waypoints on an IFR trip. Ironically, I flew many CAP missions with all these watches and others in my flying time. Just a Cessna driver…..nothing fancy. So, oh yeah, nothing at all wrong with Quartz. I will say, I love mechanical best. Manual (like the Heuer which also did not hack) or autos. But I recently bought a Baltany for sub $200.00 USD. Quartz tri-compax with a 12 hour totalizer as well as date, running seconds, and a 60 minute totalizer. Like a VJ 7750 layout. Fine vid. I am obviously in agreement with you. I LOVE ALL watches. Time keeping is lovely. It’s like music. It measures with awesome precision a concept (time) that does not exist!
What a great read, sounds like you have had a very interesting life! What a cool watch to have as a first watch and before Tag got their paws on them! Was it the model that has a case shaped like the Seiko Turtle?
Cool breakdown on Grand Seiko. I’m a big fan of Christopher Ward watches and The Twelve in particular for the $1k to $2k range. I’d love to see you do a review of that one.
Your hard work to bring us so much great information about watches in each and every video of yours is much appreciated my friend My favorit watch under $2000 would be the Oris Big Crown
It took me a long time to gather enough information about the technology of making the movements to justify the high price for a quartz watch in my mind...Seiko did a great job improving the accuracy of quartz watches which were already quite accurate Tudor 1926 would be my first pick
Great point and to be 100% honest I am still having a hard time with it. Given the choice I would go with the Spring Drive but if the budget doesn't allow that, Grand Seiko quartz are truly high quality "LUXURY" watches that in my opinion are worth the price even with a quartz movement. I will also note that Cartier has been very successful selling quartz watches for decades. The Tudor 1926 is a great choice!
I'm so happy you did a video focusing on a GS! Super informative and great quality video. If I had to choose, right now, I would go with the Marathon 41MM GSAR on the steel bracelet coming in at $1,800. I am a sucker for the tritium tubes!
I love your channel. You give out information that are straight to the point and very easy to digest. Looking forward to the growth of this channel. As for the watch I'd get for 1K-2K USD, it's either the Tissot Gentleman or the Hamilton Khaki Field Murph.
Thank you sooooooo much, that’s a wonderful compliment and truly appreciated! I’m a big fan of the Murph and have even considered buying one so great pick!
Hello Good Sir! For me. The Microbrand watch at the 1k to 2K mark is the Ginault Ocean Rover II. The watch is an homage to Rolex 5513 (aka MilSub) that had sword hands. This particular rendition is more of an exercise on how that watch would look today if Rolex had kept it in production today. You have a mix of modern sub aspects mixed with 5 digit sub case. Great recommendation
Great vid, excited for when you’d get your hands on a spring drive! My watch of choice in that range is the Longines Hydroconquest 41mm. Just a simple but beautiful diver.
Thanks for sharing and the opportunity. The watch I would get between 1k and 2k would be a Monta Triumph. I’ve been eyeing this brand for a super long time.
@@BlueCollarLuxe I support videos I like. Giveaway or no giveaway. I have not seen a Monta in person but I’ve been eyeing them since before the price has gone up this high. They used to be around $1200.
Seiko moved the cool dials from Seiko 5 (70s-80s) into Grand Seiko 🤣 J/K. Grand Seikos are beutiful. Didn't know about the less torque in quartz and the small hands. Nice info and great video as always!
Thank you so much!!! I think Longines is killing it with the new 41mm Hydro Conquest as well as the legend driver and the spirt zulu. I love all three the problem is their prices, I would add a legend driver to my collection in a heartbeat but $3,400 before tax is two high in my opinion.
Really enjoying the content! My pick for a watch between 1k and 2k would be the Longines Hydroconquest on the upper end, and the Sinn 556 on the lower end.
Thank you so much Andy, I truly appreciate it. Great pick, I have one but to be honest I think I’d trade it for the plain Conquest. Either way Longines has to be in the mix at this price point!
There are so many great watches in this price range, it's so hard to choose just one but if I had to choose just one it would definitely be one of the Longines watches, probably the Conquest
It is crazy because every time I mention watches in this price point the 556 is always at the top of the list and I have never even seen one in person. I got to get my hands on one so I can check it out!
Good comparison having a classic seiko next to the GS. Another Japanese watch I have and learned to appreciate at 36mm it’s the KUOE. Btw I WON !!! please count me out for your next give away. I would go with PR516 mechanical, it’s a chunky classic like Moab cars.
Congratulations on the win!!!!!! Please email me "BlueCollarLuxe@gmail.com" and I will give you a code that I need for you to post in the comments so I can confirm it is you. Please include your name and shipping address in the email. My son brought Kuoe to my attention and I have to say that I really like them and wish they made a 40mm.
Zodiac watches are rarely mentioned in this price range. The choice of colors they use for their dials and for the bezel inserts is not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it. Personally I like Super Sea Wolf Compression automatic the most
I like them! Watches are like sports cars, they can get away with colors that simply would not work anywhere else. I completely dig the pastel blue version with the orange and I can not think of anything else on the planet those to colors would work together with!
That is a good choice! I like Mido a lot but given the choice I would go with the Multifort TV Big Date but that is because I am a bit burnt out on divers at the moment.

I love me a good Grand Seiko. As a Seiko fanatic, for that price I think I'll get the new Seiko SPB453 which is a revamped version of the legendary SPB143.
Hello, They both share the same movement but have very different cases the SBGX261 has a more rounded off modern case design and the SBGV207 was designed after the vintage 44GS case which has very flat lugs. Also the SBGV207 in this video is a 40mm and the SBGX261 is 37mm.
I like it too and my son loves the green dial. Problem is the pricing is all over the map with the Alpinist, $500 to $1,500 and I find that kind of weird.
Oris is a good pick around 2k but the green dial is between $2,500 and $2,700 new from a dealer. Grey market is the way to go with this watch, can most likely save around $700
I know that the Bulova Lunar Pilot is not the best thing you can get for $2000, but I think it could be on the list, especially because it is powered by a high accurate quartz movement
Another brand based in America that I have never heard so I had to go take a look. Kind of gives me vintage Heuer vibes and the chronos are flyback which is cool!
in that price range i'd go for asinn 556 or 104 or a damasko dk36 or 37 or a pre-owned citizen "The citizen" with their HAQ solar movement similar to the GS 9F movements.
I'm with you on the first two but I have to pass on. the third. I just could never see paying that kind of money for a Citizen even with the solar power movement. It just doesn't make since to me, the Citizen Chronomaster is going for $2,300 while you can pick up the Promaster for under $300.
@@BlueCollarLuxe think of it as a grand seiko 9F movement but solar powered, because that's practically what it is. the same technology and accuracy and case finishing and great dials too but with solar charging. "The citizen" is very, very similar to the GS but i understand why people would see it as just a citizen watch, just like GS used to be just an expensive Seiko with an extra GS badge up until they made Grand Seiko its own separate brand.
That is a solid point. Citizen is a big brand that owns multiple brands so maybe they should take a play out of the GS book and find a way to separate the affordable from the higher end. They do the same thing with the Frederique Constant brand they own. Frederique Constant has watches that cost 1k and then they release a tourbillon that cost 30K that just doesn't make since to me. That would be like Rolex coming out with a watch sold in department stores, it would cannibalize their higher end watches.
Buddy we know u put in efforts...with subs under 1k coming up with Quality content every week in not cake walk...so need not mention it. For the challenge i would love to go with Seiko Prospex Alpinist GMT SPB379J1...in India its equivalent to $1250.
Here are my top 5 watches in the $0 to $2000 price range: 1. Oris Big Ceown pointer date 2. Longiner Conquest 2023 3. Sinn 556 4. Seiko SPB 381 5. Seiko Alpinist GMT
That is a good looking watch! Do you mind if I ask what country you are in? I only ask because Monta really wasn't even on my radar until recently yet a lot of people have mentioned them in the comments.
@@BlueCollarLuxe From Finland, came across it when researching microbrands. In Europe Monta is relatively rare due to import costs. Would love to see one in flesh.

They do the same thing with the Frederique Constant brand they own. Frederique Constant has watches that cost 1k and then they release a tourbillon that cost 30K that just doesn't make since to me. That would be like Rolex coming out with a watch sold in department stores, it would cannibalize their higher end watches.
