I started a new game for this video to show off CAS and some Build Buy, but I did not experience ANY crashes at all while playing this. That means the earliest prototype arguably works better than the later build Alpha 815. (Which I recently tried playing again, but could only go 5 minutes before crashing) I used to experience technical "crashes" as Captain Catastrophe (from the Urbz) would randomly pop up and freeze the game. But now I realize it must be the *other* Free Play lots that are bugged. Since in this new save file, I started at the house I used in the Alpha 815 build instead. Anyway. The usual. Differences from the the Final Build (that I've noticed / some of which may not appear in this particular vid) - Lighting is messed up in CAS - Grandparents can be chosen (has no effect though) - Randomization doesn't work - Layout of CAS icons are different - The "elder" skin is not in skin tones, but instead body type. - the "Style" icon is different, possibly uses an Urbz 2 leftover. - Many of the CAS items are bugged or unfinished. - Creativity Aspiration uses the "Grow Up" aspiration icon for kids in TS2 PC as a placeholder. - The ability to zoom into your sim is much more extreme. - The window in CAS has a different background. (Showing a night sky instead of a day sky) - There's a "swap gender" option but it appears to have no effect. - Placeholder text, placeholder text everywhere. - CAS uses Sim Time Sim Place (Lemon Jelly Remix) Which the full song does not appear in the Final Build (only a snippet is used as the loading jingle) However, it only seems to play once. - The other CAS / Build Buy music is The Sims theme (Lemon Jelly Remix), which goes completely unused in the Final Build. - There are no families occupying any Free Play lots. (No Newbies or Freebers for example) - There only exists one premade household in the family bin, it's two default male sims with Urbz NPC names & thumbnails. - Despite having prices, all lots are free to move in. - Progress bar can be accessed, which it cannot be accessed through Free Play in the Final Build. - Many of the Build Buy objects don't work (Couches barely work, comic books, vacuum cleaner, grill, etc etc) - Even though some objects appeared locked, they're not. - Fences are totally different from their appearances in the Final Build, are most likely placeholders in the prototype. - Some wallpapers or floors are unfinished. - Certain Build Buy objects are unfinished or have different appearances. - Quite a few hidden/debug items in Build Buy, including a few Urbz leftovers. - Build Buy is EXTREMELY slow (requires a lot of patience LOL) - Various objects have different stats than the Final Build versions. - Purchasing most objects won't deplete your money. - The "Eyetoy images" feature default images rather than an image of your Sim. - Most ingredients in the fridge / food creation appear to not work. - The maid uses J.J. Bradley (Urbz)'s thumbnail as a placeholder. - Appearances of Urbz models as placeholders (not demonstrated in this vid, but can be seen in my previous vids) - Jobs do not work. You can get one, but the car will never show up. - The newspapers also contain leftover Bustin' Out jobs - Picking up multiple dishes does not work. - Other sims (you're not currently playing as) can do things you can't. (They can sleep in beds and pick up multiple dishes) - Need bars do go down, but the visuals do not reflect this. (Half filled is as far as they'll go) - Has some broken Wants (a blank aspiration with an "X" icon) - Sims have Wants that do not reflect their aspirations. (Ex: Wanting to scare Sims even though they're alive) - The "Wedgie" interaction was originally called "Dreaded Rear Admiral" (Which was apparently a Simpsons' reference) - Story Mode Sims had different styled thumbnails (one that resembles the Player Urb thumbnail from the Urbz) - Story Mode Sims could visit Free Play lots (likely an unintended function) - Your Story Mode Sim will always live with the Free Play houses, making the households 5 Sims instead of the maximum 4 Sims. - Some Story Mode Sims have different appearances from the Final Build. - Low social needs animation is different. - The Newspaper boy always visits, but the mailman NEVER arrives, therefore you never have to pay bills - Pets from the Urbz will randomly spawn, but they're invisible and none of their interactions work. - NPCs will randomly visit despite not calling for them. (Police will randomly spawn and fine you)
@@ddrkingjb I'll have to go to Cliffside Retreat, but those pictures you saw might be from an even OLDER build (that's sadly not available yet). Since the Xbox's Final Build has unique loading screens, and they use pics that are DEFINITELY taken from older builds than the M4 20 one! If it still exists, I'd love to get my hands on it. X)
Yo this is sick glad to see another fan of the sims 2 console I’ve got a bunch of pre release footage of the game on one of my hard drives if u haven’t seen them before from way before this build
Are they from early trailers / reveals??? 'cos if not, then I'd absolutely love to check them out! :D And thanks! Sims gets talked about often, but the poor console spin-offs are a little forgotten! ^^; So I thought it'd be nice to make vidz for others who loved them. :)
I always wondered why the console version decided to omit the entire families and generational gameplay aspect of the PC game since that was the entire premise behind TS2, interesting that it seems to be more of a design choice and not a case of scrapped features. I wonder if it had to do with console limitations.
I dunno how exactly they leaked, their builds just popped up on eBay one day, somebody bought 'em, and then uploaded 'em online for everyone else! It would be nice if, somehow, a S2PC beta popped up on eBay one day. But it would seem like it might be EASIER for the Console betas to leak. Both Sims 3 and Castaway for Wii also have leaked betas available! (Castaway, though, is a late beta so not rly all that interesting)
Usually these are in preview discs or inside hard drives (PS2TOOL or original Xbox devkits specifically). I guess they were sent to corporate during development to have some feedback. Then they stay in the warehouses or dev studios until the company is dissolved and some people grab some of these and take them home. Then they are either dumped online anonymously or resold. I know Maxis is still up but perhaps one of their internal studios shutdown outside of their HQ that had Sims 2 dev builds, that's usually how leaks pop up. Also, sometimes when they resell devkits, the hard drives may not be cleaned up and could contain development builds of several games. An ebay buyer bought an original Xbox devkit not too long ago and it had a cancelled game inside where it's just a room you can move around.

we have like no beta builds for ts2 pc so how did we get betas for ts2 console

@@Manic_Panic This is very insightful! Thank you! Still hoping that someday we find an Urbz 2 build (if it still exists...!)
