Once In A Lifetime Elephant Experience in Chiang Mai, Thailand | Tawan Riverside Elephant Resort 🇹🇭

- One of the highlights of our trip to Thailand was our stay at Tawan Riverside Elephant Resort. We were able to see and interact with the elephants - and they were everywhere!
The most epic experience for us while there was a wake up call from an elephant named Tompo. A keeper guided Tompo to our room at 8am (our time preferred) and while they were approaching, we could hear Tompo’s loud trumpet. The keeper gave us about half of a sack of corn. While we were feeding Tompo, his keeper kept taking pictures of us which was so nice of him. Tompo was very delightful and we truly enjoyed the moment. After feeding, the keeper told us to come down so he could take a photo of us with Tompo.
We chose this elephant sanctuary amongst the others as we thought they exhibit extra care to their elephants.

I just saw a video saying that all the elephants are always chained and mistreated? What was your observation? Thanks
We definitely didn't see any mistreatment. They had fenced areas for some elephants and they had areas with no fences where the elephants were chained. They seemed to always have a trainer with the elephants. None of them looked distressed. This was our observation. Up close experience with beautiful animals. 🐘

Great video! While staying at the resort, were you able to see the elephants as you wanted or was it with extra fee? Did you prebook the resort ?
There are elephants all over the that you can visit without a fee. The only extra price we paid for was for the morning wake up and feeding with an elephant at our bungalow. is it safe to ride from old city to tawan at night?
It would probably be a little dark, (if you're riding a scooter). You might want to reach out to the resort for a better answer. It was definitely an experience we'll never forget. 🐘❤️
How far was this place from main town? Thanks
We rented a scooter just outside the Old City in Chiang Mai and I think it was about an hour ride if I remember right. Nice easy roads.
@@lumpialife do you just need an international drivers license to get a scooter or do you need a motorcycle license? Thanks!
@@allthingsreview777 We rented from this shop maps.app.goo.gl/aNsD8qTrWWwPh6196 They never asked me for a license and all I had was my US drivers license without endorsement. I also had my Philippines license with an endorsement (we live there part-time). But the only thing I had to show was my passport. Super easy. Lots of bikes to choose from. Safe travels always!!
