The sith assault is led by Darth (He took the place of his Master) Malgus, he is then confronted with Satele Shan and Jace Malcom. The Republic wins the battle but is greatly weakened.
Satele's master (The Zabrak in Return trailer) is Kao Cen Darach, he was the Order's Battlemaster, i.e the person overseeing all saber combat training in the entire Jedi Order.
Some additions: - First cinematic takes place 3681 BBY. Satele ist 18 years old and Malgus 20. The others aren’t known. - second Cinematic takes place 14 years later, 3667 BBY. This was an important battle, because it was the first meaningful victory of the Republic since the return of the Sith-Empire.

Revan and bastila married some time after the destruction of the Star Forge. 9:56 - there's a lot of Sith, because "The Rule of Two" that states there can only ever be a master and an apprentice (as exemplified throughout most of Star Wars)... hasn't happened yet. Specifically, The Old Republic happens some thirty-five hundred years prior to SW canon, while the rule was concocted by Darth Bane, around a thousand years BBY - so from these cinematics' point of view, it'll take another twenty-five hundred years for the number of Sith to significantly drop. Until then, it's safe to imagine there's as much Sith, as there are Jedi, likely much more. 10:37 - THAT is Tutaminis I.E. Force Absorption/Deflection/Negation/Dissipation (depending on the source). A Force skill which allows to block or redirect energy attacks with your bare hands.
Tutaminis is interesting in that while the ability itself is common, blocking lightsabers with it is actually very rare. Its more common use was to absorb the energy from blaster fire or force powers, such as when Yoda used Tutaminis to absorb Dooku's Force Lighting in Attack of the Clones or Vader absorbed Han Solo's blaster bolts in Empire Strikes Back.
Lucasarts licensed a lot of original soudtrack; every class video starts with the usual yellow crawling while John Williams' usual tune plays. you feel at home immediately. :D
When you actually play the game you start to realize that things might not be as black and white as they first seemed. That the Republic might not be such good guys after( Republic has done some evil things as well) all as they first were portrayed in the movies...
since Bioware designed KOTOR, old republic era is their turf. :) in exchange Bioware stays away from movie era. unfortunately for Disney the deal with Bioware allows the studio to design (within certain limits as "no wookie jedi pls") whatever they want, so the sith of old republic would wipe the floor with movie era sith any day. Kylo Ren would never make it through day one on Korriban in those age.
@@HypeTrain-Follow when you talked about having to pay money in the game yes and no you can play the main classes to the finish for free and that takes you over level 50 i think and over weeks of just playing missions if you do pay for a subscription you can level to 70 play the expansions which are certainly worth it and you gain xp at an increased rate and can hold millions of credits at once. So i would definitely recommend playing it even maybe doing a character series playthrough of all the different classes that would be brilliant to watch you choose light side or dark side classes then during conversations or cutscenes going either lightside options or dark side options which have different outcomes
that game has a good story.... who would have thought and great cinematics….. not quite wow but still but the gameplay is stale as week old bread left in the open

As there's a time gap between the first three cinematics (especially between Return and Hope). After all, the padawan in Return is the same jedi-master from Hope: Satele Shan.
The Rule of Two was established after the Sith Empire lost the Jedi-Sith War 1,000 years before the Battle of Yavin, the sith lord you see in the two trailers is Darth Malgus who was alive more than 2,000 years before the Jedi-Sith War. It is why you see all those Sith since many separated eventually from the Je'daii Order, back when the Order was first founded. Sith were always about power and culling the weak, made sense for Malgus in 'Return' to finish off his master.

This isn't that order that originally left the Jedi though. This is a group that has already been defeated by Jedi and evolved in the shadows to become the Sith Empire. This is what leads to a galactic cold war, and isn't one of the Jedi-Sith wars if I'm remembering right. Though to be fair, there were too many Jedi Sith wars.

Bioware had and has fun with raising and destroying sith lord and darth by the dozen. and the player is able to rise through the ranks until Darth himself/herself.
If this is what the Jedi and Sith could do, I want to know what happened? They should have been incredibly powerful, more feats with the force in the films. Not the original trilogy due to limitations of the time, but for the rest.

Dagon fhtagn! The Clone Wars era was a couple of years of constant battle. Stagnation of battle prowess is not really an acceptable answer in their defense after Episode 2, especially since most enemies in said era had no force sensitivity and were not immune to Force abilities. If the Old Republic era before the Rule of Two was the height of power for the Jedi and Sith, there should be a better explanation for the decline of their abilities. Then again, I doubt Disney would give a proper explanation since they now own the IP. They pretty much overwrote all this good stuff.

Alithia451 how many servers are there? There used to be a lot when the game started. But, as people started leaving the game and servers felt empty they began merging them. So while it may appear more populated that isn’t necessarily true. Last I remembered hearing in 2018 is that the game has gone from 200ish servers at launch to less than a dozen. Cramming everyone that’s left into fewer servers doesn’t mean the game is more alive then before in years exactly.

"SWTOR is as crowded and alive as never before in years" Yeah sure, years maybe. But it is nowhere near its peak population as evidenced by the fact there's only 5 servers now. And the game has been repeatedly neutered in terms of class toolkits, gameplay, and story content quality to make it as unappealing as possible (as far as I can see, why else would you take away literally the best parts of the Force-user classes, like Sith Warrior's old Ravage and the Assassin/Shadow's Health drain?). SWTOR experienced a "revival" because of The Mando, but the hype will fade along with the population, especially when EAware continues its track record of promising what the playerbase wants and then failing to deliver. I was/am a 5-year veteran of SWTOR. I was there for a lot of ups-n-downs, and honestly it was at its peak as a game/product a long time ago, and by the looks of its developer will never return. I can't bring myself to bother getting re-invested in SWTOR (despite all of those 5 years of investment I happily poured into it) because it simply is no longer what I invested in in the first place.
Return, Hope and Deceived are pre-release trailers, so they go together. The other two, Sacrifice and Betrayed are cinematic trailers for expansion packs that came out much later, so they will feature different characters and setting.
Funny how the cinematics for swtor are better than all of disney star wars, it covers all social values the right way. Feminism, lead character satele shan is strong, smart and wise...Not arrogant, and she actually trained for her purpose and role which means she EARNED it. Racial equality, it displays ACTUAL equality when the terms of RACE are being used, meaning aliens...Aliens are given important roles in this story and aren't strip dancers for a worm. Well it primarily covers those two topics...Everything else it's all creative writing following the story of shan and her lover the guy who bombed himself on the sith forgot his name but he is the father of theron shan, the son of satele shan. Later on, malgus the lead antagonist is defeated but replaced by a older threat...The actual emperor, who was for the longest time leading an empire...While not actually leading it. He returns with a second empire with nothing but loyal soldiers and droid infantry. And satele abandons the jedi order due to the force having abandoned them due to their own arrogance as they aimed to destroy the jedi instead of heal them. she falls in love with a sith who was also given the same path to follow, and they become force lovers. After the emperor is defeated and the issues resolved...Meaning his children, the empire falls and gets replaced by the fake empire however only momentarily. During all this however...The mandalorians are trying to find their purpose after not leading a war since darth malgus...My guess is, mandalore the avenger will be defeated in combat and replaced by mandalore the uniter. Who will lead all bounty hunters and remaining mandalorians under a new cause and they'll become the final threat of swtor...
Yes there is an actual cash cost, if your in the free to play mode. I believe there's a cash cost for access to the expansions, however you do get access to the base game for free. And there's a cash cost involved, in unlocking some cosmetic features, pets, vehicles, and powerups. You buy these items at vendors, with cash you either acquire thru doing certain events, related to your particular storyline or guild. Or thru the Cartel Market, using Cartel Cash, which you acquire thru drop boxes, on occasion, or you can buy it from the store. However, you can play this game all the way thru, with just the items you acquire thru regular gameplay. But, without a subscription, you may find it slightly more difficult.
All you have to do is Sub for 1 month or it might be 2 or 3 months to unlock all of the expansion content and character slots to play every class in the game.
As someone who was captivated by the original 3 cinematics (Return, Deceived, Hope) ahead of The Old Republic's release, and only recently actually tried playing it (after it went free-to-play), I can give you a little insight into the monetization system it uses now. Basically the whole game is playable as a free-to-play player, but there are some pretty big grinds in order to unlock some content, and you're harshly limited in terms of character slots as well as inventory space. A whole host of cosmetic content is purchasable, but also there's a bunch of annoying things about the game that you have to pay to unlock the convenience features to resolve =)
I definitely vote yes for more cinematic reactions. These cinematics have inspired fans to call for Old Republic movies. We're now seeing a focus on Mandalorians, who have played a big role in the "Knights of the Old Republic"(RPGs) & "The Old Republic"(MMO) lore. And Old Republic era Sith have popped up on "The Clone Wars" canonical animated series. I would kill to see Kevin Feige Do a KotOR movie!
By the way Darth Malgus killing his master is him being loyal to ‘the rule of two’ where a masters apprentice must kill their master at some point, as with the rule of two the master provides knowledge he has learnt from their master to build stronger & stronger sith by time
@@Burdrann I believed the rule of two was still a thing, because in the game I remember the sith inquisitor path I had to follow the rule of two and kill my master. This was after the rule of two was introduced? Or am I wrong?
Ok so Star Wars The Old Republic begins 3,640 years before A New Hope (where Luke destroys the Death Star). Darth Bane (who created the Rule of Two) was born 1,026 years before that battle, so 2,614 years after The Old Republic. The Rule of Two says there can only be two Sith at any one time throughout the entire galaxy. During The Old Republic about 2,600 years before Bane was born there were thousands of Sith in the Galaxy and the Rule of Two did not yet exist. Malgus killed his master Darth Vindican because it has always been the way of the Sith to kill ones master when your training is complete. Every Sith knows that taking an apprentice is likely to end in his/her death.
Character slots and cosmetics were the only things in 2014. The only reason I stopped playing is because I heard it was going to console and was tired of spending so much on PC performance stuff🤓 sadly it's too much for any console yet....
Kev said it best there when he said there was no loyalty in that group . Rank in the Sith is rarely earned, only taken. Even when 'the Rule of Two' came in that was the still the case as the Emperor let slip on Episode 3 :)

Alithia451 how many servers are there? There used to be a lot when the game started. But, as people started leaving the game and servers felt empty they began merging them. So while it may appear more populated that isn’t necessarily true. Last I remembered hearing in 2018 is that the game has gone from 200ish servers at launch to less than a dozen. Cramming everyone that’s left into fewer servers doesn’t mean the game is more alive then before in years exactly.
@@krym9812 5 servers remain. Though my first time playing was when the game first released, and I don't remember there being anywhere near 200 servers.
@@krym9812 If number are correct there are still 7 million active players with 100-300k on around peak hours hitting millions of unique players a day

Yeah sure, years maybe. But it is nowhere near its peak population as evidenced by the fact there's only 5 servers now. And the game has been repeatedly neutered in terms of class toolkits, gameplay, and story content quality to make it as unappealing as possible (as far as I can see, why else would you take away literally the best parts of the Force-user classes, like Sith Warrior's old Ravage and the Assassin/Shadow's Health drain?).
SWTOR experienced a "revival" because of The Mando, but the hype will fade along with the population, especially when EAware continues its track record of promising what the playerbase wants and then failing to deliver. I was/am a 5-year veteran of SWTOR. I was there for a lot of ups-n-downs, and honestly it was at its peak as a game/product a long time ago, and by the looks of its developer will never return. I can't bring myself to bother getting re-invested in SWTOR (despite all of those 5 years of investment I happily poured into it) because it simply is no longer what I invested in in the first place.
Return, Hope and Deceived are pre-release trailers, so they go together. The other two, Sacrifice and Betrayed are cinematic trailers for expansion packs that came out much later, so they will feature different characters and setting.
Funny how the cinematics for swtor are better than all of disney star wars, it covers all social values the right way.
Feminism, lead character satele shan is strong, smart and wise...Not arrogant, and she actually trained for her purpose and role which means she EARNED it.
Racial equality, it displays ACTUAL equality when the terms of RACE are being used, meaning aliens...Aliens are given important roles in this story and aren't strip dancers for a worm.
Well it primarily covers those two topics...Everything else it's all creative writing following the story of shan and her lover the guy who bombed himself on the sith forgot his name but he is the father of theron shan, the son of satele shan.
Later on, malgus the lead antagonist is defeated but replaced by a older threat...The actual emperor, who was for the longest time leading an empire...While not actually leading it.
He returns with a second empire with nothing but loyal soldiers and droid infantry.
And satele abandons the jedi order due to the force having abandoned them due to their own arrogance as they aimed to destroy the jedi instead of heal them.
she falls in love with a sith who was also given the same path to follow, and they become force lovers.
After the emperor is defeated and the issues resolved...Meaning his children, the empire falls and gets replaced by the fake empire however only momentarily.
During all this however...The mandalorians are trying to find their purpose after not leading a war since darth malgus...My guess is, mandalore the avenger will be defeated in combat and replaced by mandalore the uniter.
Who will lead all bounty hunters and remaining mandalorians under a new cause and they'll become the final threat of swtor...

Yes there is an actual cash cost, if your in the free to play mode. I believe there's a cash cost for access to the expansions, however you do get access to the base game for free. And there's a cash cost involved, in unlocking some cosmetic features, pets, vehicles, and powerups. You buy these items at vendors, with cash you either acquire thru doing certain events, related to your particular storyline or guild. Or thru the Cartel Market, using Cartel Cash, which you acquire thru drop boxes, on occasion, or you can buy it from the store. However, you can play this game all the way thru, with just the items you acquire thru regular gameplay. But, without a subscription, you may find it slightly more difficult.
All you have to do is Sub for 1 month or it might be 2 or 3 months to unlock all of the expansion content and character slots to play every class in the game.

As someone who was captivated by the original 3 cinematics (Return, Deceived, Hope) ahead of The Old Republic's release, and only recently actually tried playing it (after it went free-to-play), I can give you a little insight into the monetization system it uses now.
Basically the whole game is playable as a free-to-play player, but there are some pretty big grinds in order to unlock some content, and you're harshly limited in terms of character slots as well as inventory space. A whole host of cosmetic content is purchasable, but also there's a bunch of annoying things about the game that you have to pay to unlock the convenience features to resolve =)
I definitely vote yes for more cinematic reactions. These cinematics have inspired fans to call for Old Republic movies. We're now seeing a focus on Mandalorians, who have played a big role in the "Knights of the Old Republic"(RPGs) & "The Old Republic"(MMO) lore. And Old Republic era Sith have popped up on "The Clone Wars" canonical animated series. I would kill to see Kevin Feige Do a KotOR movie!
By the way Darth Malgus killing his master is him being loyal to ‘the rule of two’ where a masters apprentice must kill their master at some point, as with the rule of two the master provides knowledge he has learnt from their master to build stronger & stronger sith by time
@@Burdrann I believed the rule of two was still a thing, because in the game I remember the sith inquisitor path I had to follow the rule of two and kill my master. This was after the rule of two was introduced? Or am I wrong?
Ok so Star Wars The Old Republic begins 3,640 years before A New Hope (where Luke destroys the Death Star). Darth Bane (who created the Rule of Two) was born 1,026 years before that battle, so 2,614 years after The Old Republic. The Rule of Two says there can only be two Sith at any one time throughout the entire galaxy. During The Old Republic about 2,600 years before Bane was born there were thousands of Sith in the Galaxy and the Rule of Two did not yet exist.
Malgus killed his master Darth Vindican because it has always been the way of the Sith to kill ones master when your training is complete. Every Sith knows that taking an apprentice is likely to end in his/her death.
You have to admire their animation, I'd pay watch an old republic movie in that animation

Character slots and cosmetics were the only things in 2014. The only reason I stopped playing is because I heard it was going to console and was tired of spending so much on PC performance stuff🤓 sadly it's too much for any console yet....
Kev said it best there when he said there was no loyalty in that group . Rank in the Sith is rarely earned, only taken. Even when 'the Rule of Two' came in that was the still the case as the Emperor let slip on Episode 3 :)
