    Didn't know about this bracket yet - will get myself printed one (just what I needed). Thanks for coming up with this.

      You’re welcome! It’s an easy fix and makes the display stay nicely in place without any hot glue or similar thinks. Plus it’s reversible and easily repairable.

    This looks like a great mod as I have just spent a long time trying to make the oled fit straight in the Gotek case and it has been next to impossible to get it perfectly straight. Your video should have more views.

      You’re welcome. Got glue is the poor man‘s version of 3D printing! ;)

    and this display will just work? Im still trying to get my gotek working in a Roland XP50 synth. Im at the point the synth can see the 100 floppy images (as it says unformatted disk if I try to write to them) but if I try to format the disks in the xp, it just does 1/80 (xp50 uses 80 sectors) and then errors. I have seen that a mod has to be done by linking pins 1+2 (Roland G800 synth) on the cable (or on the gotek board) but as I don't want to damage anything, I wont do it till I find out why this mod is required.Great video btw

      Bikerboythousand I’ve just this morning had success in getting the Gotek working in my XP-50 and thought its worth putting it out there as I haven’t come across my jumper settings anywhere on the net. After much reading and getting nowhere I have tried many configurations but found success using jumpers on MO,S0,JB and JA. Maybe it’s a firmware issue on either the gotek or the Xp-50 but this has worked a treat for me. Worth noting my Gotek is SFR1M144-U100K-R. Hope this will give you the same success.

      @@1970wozza ill try that then. Did you use the gotek software to format to get the 99 discs (or whatever it is) and go from there?

    • @1970wozza

      Bikerboythousand I haven’t used any software on pc and just used the built in Gotek format (hold both buttons on the Gotek while powering on the xp50, hold the buttons until the display starts counting up and formatting), my Gotek has a 3 digit display and counted to 999 then returned to zero. It’s also worth noting that after format the usb stick should be removed and re inserted for the Gotek to recognise it again. Once that was done I could access the disk utility on the xp50 without getting the dreaded disk not formatted or disk not ready errors. You shouldn’t have to use the xp50’s format function using this method. Hope this helps for you.

      Bikerboythousand I was also at the point of linking pins 1&2 as the G800 but got lucky by adding a jumper to a configuration I came across on the net. See the below link that might give you more info on pin configurations.

    Did you create some code so that the text on the screen does not exceed the field where the display is covered? Or did you cut the plastic? Thanks!

    • @root42
      @root42  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I did not change anything. For me it worked as it is out of the box. Maybe newer OLEDs are wider? Or newer Gotek cases have less of a cutout...?

    Best looking GoTek setup I've seen yet. Out of curiosity, what is the final cost of everything?

    • @root42
      @root42  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The OLEDs can be had for very small money (less than 5€). The printed adapter was free for me, since a friend was so kind to print it. Material cost for that would be very small anyway. The Gotek currently is about 30-40€. So all in all it should be less than 50€.

    I noticed you didn't cut your goteks display hole. With the screen being wider than the hole, does it impede your view at all? Or only display on the left of the screen? Thanks for the clear tutorial!

    • @root42
      @root42  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can see everything clear enough. If there is a cutoff, I didn’t notice. You’re welcome!

      Some Gotek's have only a 2-digit display and the opening needs to be enlarged - but this one had a 3-digit so maybe it is already the right size.

    nice, tnx. i was wondering if there is a way to mod the Oled display so you can get it retro style ? like orange or green maby. i havent found a video like that. do you think its possible ?

    • @root42
      @root42  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the OLED display. You have to check ebay if your desired colors are available. These tiny displays are monochrome. I picked the white one but other colors might be available

    • @kasperverweij9424

      Would try getting a white one and putting an amber transparent sheet in front to give it that tubelike glow. I'll try it out on one of my displays to see if it looks convincing.(that is if i can find my transparent sheets)

    • @kasperverweij9424
      @kasperverweij9424 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tried it with a few colour sheets, i have twelve. You're gonna want a bit of a darker colour otherwise it looks a bit pastel. It doesn't do much with purple, green also looks a bit pastel but red looks really dope and blue is also kinda cool. I've only seen modules that are blue, white or yellow and blue/white. Unless you find other colour displays using one of those plastic coloured sheets is a decent solution i think.
      Does take away a lot of brightness though

      I think it’s because you can navigate more quickly than with two buttons.

    Do you know who can sell me a bracket for the oled display

    • @root42
      @root42  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, sorry. But don't you know anyone with a 3D printer? The bracket takes very little time to print, (1-2 hours, depending on quality) and only a few cents in material.
