Unless NEC operations have changed reently local passengers traveling between NYP and WAS are not carried on long haul trains like the Crescent, Silver Meteor, and Silver Star.
The Silver Meteor and Star are virtually the same train. They both now offer a 2 course Traditional dining menu. Thankfully this happened after the diner returned to the Star after increased funding and the end of the pandemic.
Yes this is very true. Was able to try the new menus recently and hope to post a video about it soon. And while the two trains are now the same consist the Silver Stars running length is significantly longer due to it running through the Central Carolinas and out to Tampa while the Silver Meteor makes a direct run from New York to Miami and vice versa. Because of this the Silver Star has more meal times.
Long haul trains lke the "Silver Meteor" makes few stops in the Corridor but the schedules are longer than Regional trains which make a lot of stops. Loading and unloading baggage on the long hauls at major stops take up a lot of time.
I've done both styles of videos seems I can't please everyone but I have been thinking about trying to put some effort into voice narration again if I could find the time between work and trips.

The other advantage of taking the long-distance trains between NY and WDC is the long distance coaches have a lot more legroom and recline.

very surprised at the amount of long distance equipment in the yard in Miami.
Miami is the east coast maintenance facility for the long distance single level equipment.
Taking the silver meteor this coming October roomette looking forward to traditional dining NYC - Winter Haven
Train exteior is dirty leaving NYP. Amtrak doesn't bother to send cars through the car wash any more. No more clear view of passing scenery.
