Thanks! Super helpful video, everything is explained really well. Question, if you can't get Taylor 720 and had a really small job as a homeowner (one small piece of pad), would a caulk glue like 'power grab' work?
I just had a idea for a video! Are you like me and you do or have certain things you do in your day to day work that make you life easier? I do things like when Im fitting tackstrip I only go one way round a room and I never go back on myself. I do little things like that to save the time I spend in my knees. Could you do a video on any tips & tricks that make your day faster or easier.
I run pad the same way as carpet, no exceptions.. I only use utility knife for cutting padding, carry a blade sharpener, and I can cut pad for days with one side of utility blade
@@Michael-kt5mu we do the same. As you position the carpet, it seems like there is less chance of disturbing the pad seam if it is running the same way. Dragging carpet back and forth could flip up a spot on the pad seam and you might not see it until later. Also running it the same way gives you a feel for where your carpyseams are going to be and where fill pieces might come from. Don’t hurt to run other way, just my opinion. And that don’t mean much, just ask my wife.
Michael Johnson I tied the fireplace off and stretched toward the back door then stretched to the tile and finished up in the direction of the back door again
Nice tips.. I know this is a small thing but the piece that was cut for the tile by the door would have got that last 2 foot section if they are 12 in tile.
sausage man Yeah probably have actually tried that, sometimes you end up with Glue on your scraps then it ends up getting messy that’s why I glue it last
Why is that stuff your using to stick the pad? Over here we use we use a adhesive that comes in a spray can I hate it because it's smells really strong and I have to wear a mask otherwise it will make you dizzy!!
sausage man the stuff in the can is a pad cement that's what it's for is for putting down carpet pad I just punched a couple of holes in it in the top and just use that to pour it out so I don't waste too much of it I can usually get probably four or five houses of carpet out of one can of glue which runs me about 20 bucks so it's not a bad deal, the stuff I use has a little smell to it's not too strong though it's where I have to wear a mask or anything you'd really have to be huffing it to get high on it or dizzy
Carpet pad tastic .......you done it again great step by step video my friend

If it was just one small room you can just use duct tape on the seams And also use duck tape to attach the pad to the tack strip and you would be good
@@FloorsbySouthernboys THANK YOU!
Does anyone have the link to the exact padding in the video?

William S Gilbert Dang, never heard of anybody doing that for pad
Hey what is the reason for running the carpet and pad the same way... I am struggling to figure out what the difference would be.

I am a little late on this, but how do you stretch carpet in rooms with different obstacles like that one.

Tim Broderick you’re right they was 12 inch tiles
Thank you.
😀👍
Would it not be easier to glue the pad then trim the pad?
sausage man Yeah probably have actually tried that, sometimes you end up with Glue on your scraps then it ends up getting messy that’s why I glue it last
never seen pad taped like that new.. usually wrapped in tight plastic that I pull off and use as a bag for scraps
Josh Tomsic This one was also in a bag but for some reason they also tape them, not all the time
Great video
Jeffrey Peterson Thank you sir
