- The Bedford Basin Yacht Club holds many memories for me.
Sixty years ago when I was a teenager, my father
was a member of the BBYC and kept a power boat here,
the "Mona Lisa II," a converted Cape Island boat.
It was here that I spent all of my summers, learned how to sail,
and enjoyed many happy moments with my friends.
Most of my life since has been in Ontario.
In the decades in between then and now it is wonderful to see that,
although there have been many upgrades and improvements,
not everything has changed.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Just for fun I will add that near the other end of this basin is the Atlantic port of Halifax. My mother, a British Army vet (ATS) and a Yorkshire lass, arrived there (1946) as a 19 year old warbride after marrying a Canadian soldier. This is definitely a place of special meaning to us for different reasons.
