Hi Usman, you need to have channel defined for communication purposes. It basically tells Vissim where to look for the information you try to send.
When you want communication between controllers, you must define the data's route from one controller to another. Each controller has channels to output information and also channels for input.
Since can set up communication between many controllers, each row in the 'SG communication' list (shown at 3:36 in the video) is basically the definition where the info comes from and where it goes to. Using channels, you can be sure that for example SG no.:5 picks up the correct data.
You can set up multiple channels between the same controllers. So this way you can send more info and you know which channel has what data. E.g. channel 1 you are receiving end of queue alerts, channel 2 has stage change notifications and so on.
You can also send the same data from SG1 on channel 1 for example to many other controllers. for example: OUT: SG1 ch:1, IN: SG2 ch:2, SG3 ch:2 - in this example you send data from SG1 on ch1 to SG2 ch2 and also to SG3 ch2. This would take 2 rows in the SG communication list.
Markers are just the functions you use in Visvap to read/write these channels. 'get marker reads the channel for inputs, 'put marker' writes the channel for outputs.
I hope this helps, if not let me know.
