M3gan is amazing. I’ve heard rumours she will be back. She’s an icon. I loved that film. I need to start the Sula. Maybe for my birthday month as I’ve a devilish reading project this month.
All the library programs you talk about makes me think that the library system in the UK is much better funded then those in the US. You especially seem to have sophisticated and complex national library programs, where our library funding tends to be limited to local and state and there really aren’t multiple city national programs going on here in the US, especially funded by the federal government. That’s not to say we don’t have lots of national library campaigns, but those primarily come from our American Library Association.
I don’t think it’s funded well at all. It’s one of the most cut services in the UK. I think what’s happened is they’ve become savvier at getting funding and working on places to find it. That’s in part my role and the role of the charity I work for.
🦊 I became obsessed with the IG account for Save a Fox Rescue when I was stuck at home in 2020 💕what a joy. I’m not really bothered with dates in vlogs - very take ‘em or leave ‘em
Hello Simon. I am currently reading 2 books, first is The Island of Missing Trees, which I am reading 💯 based on your recommendation, and I am LOVING IT! But I wonder, have you planted a fig tree in your garden yet? I think you must! And second I am reading Daisy Jones and the Six, and also loving that, but in this instance I must say, you are completely wrong! 😜. The paperback covers you have for the Taylor Jenkins Reid books in England are so much BETTER than that ugly hardcover version you showed… which is what I am forced to endure as I read it! Your Carrie Soto cover is amazing… ours… UGLY! But the writing is beautiful either way!
I do indeed have a fig tree in the garden. It’s actually been there four four years so before I had read Missing Trees and possibly before it was written. Hahahaha. Chris has taken cuttings and grown about six more. Maybe we should start a fig tree farm. Hahaha. I do also now have an indoor fig which is peaking in on the left of the screen called Elif.
Wow. That is so cool! It is 7*F today, and they are forecasting a windchill of -40*F… so I don’t think a fig could survive here, but it is great that you are having such good luck with yours. And I love that you named one Elif! ❤
Love this one, books and the sea! I've been reading about the trains from here in the States, but seeing it was unbelievable. What a nightmare. I like knowing the dates on the parts of the vlog. Glad you're starting to feel better.
Thanks Ida. Getting there slowly but surely, not rushing though. I’m learning hahaha. The trains here in the UK have been described as being worse than the trains in Ukraine, which says a lot. I think I’ll keep the day but maybe not the dates.

The Other Hoffmann Sister
☘️👋🍀📚📖📕☕️
I’ve seen a few people are reading Markley’s new one. I’ve not read Ohio yet but I will. Looks like it was a good month reading wise.
Glad to see you’ve nabbed a copy of The Furrows. I’m so excited to get to it (and I’m half expecting to see it on the Women’s Prize longlist) 🦊
I’m looking forward to it… and the Women’s Prize longlist. Mum and I are already plotting content and getting ready to read like crazy.
Acute sinusitis as a compliment 😂 Hope you're feeling better!
Hahaha. I took it as such 😉
I think you need to get closer to foxy loxy to make sure - please video if you are going to check it's scrotum 🤣 I am not sure it will appreciate your effort though. Looking forward to 'Other Half'. Agree with you about Happy Valley & TJR is a clever author. Hope you feel better soon 🦊
As I said at the end, haven’t seen Loxy for about 10 days now so think (hope) he has found a new garden to make a den in. But was lovely having it here for a while.
Here I am hoping you love Malibu Rising by TJR 🤞😊🦊
We shall see. I’m quoted in the UK edition so that’s a good sign 🤣
@@SavidgeReads most definitely! 🤣
I see you got a book by Will Schwalbe, did you ever read ‘The end of your life book club’ by him? I loved that book so much I e-mailed him to tell him how much I loved his book and he responded with such a lovely e-mail.
I did. I talked about it a bit in my latest haul. Will and I have kept in touch since.
yes yes we stan Meagan!!! she is an icon. i’m planning to start Sula soon! and also, hope you enjoy cascading into sleep with Lispector 🌝
🦊Speaking about foxes, why not read Aminatta Forna's novel Happiness? 💛💛💛
I have. I loved it. Was one of my favourite reads of the year the year I read it.
🦊 I became obsessed with the IG account for Save a Fox Rescue when I was stuck at home in 2020 💕what a joy. I’m not really bothered with dates in vlogs - very take ‘em or leave ‘em
Hahahaha. I might try something a bit different with dates when I edit the next one and see how people feel.
