On a pleasant afternoon to early evening in America's Finest City™, we have Amtrak passenger trains with an out of the ordinary power unit. And at the end of the video, one happy railfanner!
I really like those Dash 8s. I think I found where those covered gondolas are coming from. I saw a video with a whole bunch of them at San Onofre, the old power plant. They must be using them to haul stuff out of there.
I estimate 45 to 55 mph. During the daylight hours, probably more on the lower end since there are pedestrians on the hiking trails that are right next to the tracks. They are aware of knuckleheads like me farting..ah, working around the tracks.
