Thanks Andy for the wonderful videos. I have a Beaver Marquis with one day hoping to find just the right Prevost. I love the colour scheme on yours! Hard to find a dark coach with such gorgeous lines! Beautiful!

So the simple answer is if you need power or air, turn on high idle.

I want to know what about air pressure before using high idle? It seems that if you use high idle before Auxiliary air is built up it causes a major strain on your belts and those components especially the alternator. However, by the time you wait for auxiliary air to build... You no longer need the high idle, lol.

Saul Trevino absolutely there are small airbags that keep tension on the belts in the older coaches. If you throw fast idle on your not only slipping the belts, but you could throw them of the pulleys. You still need fast idle after air builds up if you are using coach havoc. If the engine is a 8v92 or 8v71 you always need fast idle, but if you have a 60series or Volvo engine as long as your alternator is not being called on to use a lot of amperage, eg. hvac

Andy, I know that you have driven both the 500 & 600 hp coaches. Is there a noticeable difference between the Newell with the 600hp Cummins and a Prevost with the 500hp Volvo?

I'm not an expert when it comes to diesel engines, but the Newell coaches I drove did feel like they had more power and throttle response and could get up to speed quicker. The Volvo engine seems to operate quieter. Driving a Prevost is akin to being at the helm of a locomotive...a very nice riding locomotive! If I have the windows closed when starting the Prevost with the Volvo engine, I have to listen carefully to hear if it started. If I had to provide a comparison of the rides, the Newell models felt a bit softer/lighter to the touch than the Prevost models I've driven. In my opinion the Prevost feels more confident on the road. On the topic of power, probably the peppiest motorhome I drove was the Entegra Cornerstone...but that one is in a different category.

I don't know how people can afford to drive those. Gas must be insane to pay for. How far can you go on a tank of gas? Is a fill up more than 5 grand? I was just on my first greyhound bus, in between all the shouting and crazy people fighting with security I was day dreaming about what was going on with the engine. I could hear the turbos kicking in, wrapping my mind around the massive air conditioning system and just thinking thinking thinking. That bus could move! Do they fill up those Greyhounds once a day? I know they drive all day through multipal states and never have to stop for gas. How do those buses not overheat? We were going over the grapevine in California doing 75 with the A/C blasting in a giant Grayhound bus while everyone around us had their hazard lights on and were going 20mph. I think I'm in love with these buses, I want to know everything about them. Lol! How many miles does a typical greyhound bus last? One million? Do greyhound buses really cost over two million?. A greyhound loaded up with people paying $200 a ticket is a $20,000 load. After gas I wonder what the profit is. The drivers looked pretty burned out and disgruntled. You can tell they don't make much and from what I saw, those poor drivers literally get caught in the crossfire of states shipping there homeless, just released from jail, drug addict and mentally sick populations. I mean, I saw some stuff on this first greyhound trip of mine. But the bus was awesome, my mind couldn't stop thinking about the specs. I got off of it today. Now I must google and learn everything. Every five to ten minutes I'd hear the engine release a big blast of exhaust. What the hell was that? Sombody please tell me. What was that and why does it do that?

one thing is for some of those owners, is that when you buy one of those you don't worry about fuel costs as those are of mild concerns.

DMA the air blast was the air dryer. Ever time the air pressure comes up to max it will blow of a blast of air to expell any moisture that has built up in the reservoir tanks. In the old days we had to manually blow off the tanks
