I was SOOOO mixed from this. The showing is fine, but the textures and weapons felt.....off..... But again, they do have 4-5 months left to update the designs and textures.
They did show off the BR and Energy Sword both looking classic and sexy in a separate teaser for Infinite. The weapons are looking better the more I think about it. We also saw the AR, Needler and Plasma Pistol :)
My major worry from this 8 minute gameplay is that nothing seems to quite "fit" together as in it feels as though they are attempting to mash Halo 2A, Halo 3, Halo 4/5 and halo wars 2 artstyles together while then adding more in top. Im also conflicted about the gameplay additions, im still against sprint but the grapple seems kind of cool but im still unsure about it, i think i would have prefered the grapple hook be used only to pull things towards chief like the fusion coils or small enamies, rather than chief to thing. At any rate ill likely play through the campaign using game pass just to say i did finish it.
The graphics definitely could use another pass - just a little more grit on the guns, vehicles, and enemy armor and we'll be good. I think it's great that 343 is going for readability. Overall, it looks like a Halo made by Bungie if they were still hogtied to the contract - Destiny in many ways is a modernized Halo experience, and I'm getting vibes from that here. I can appreciate 343's basic gunplay and damange indicators making a return in a slightly more nuanced way. The prospect of different weapon types and more than just one kind of pistol, shotgun ect. is exciting, assuming there's a solid weapon sandbox underneath it. It's kind of cool to see an official Halo game with Elites and Brutes consistently together as part of the enemy roster. I agree - it may not be 100% my idealized Halo game, but there's potential here.
This feels more akin to an actual halo game compared to the sudden deviation with halo 4 and 5. You don't have as much gimmicky abilities like you did in h5, and the art style seems to favor more of the older bungie style, with some minor exceptions. Although I'm not the biggest sprint fan I can tell they toned down the speed to be more of a steady jog which I like. Clamber has returned but seems to be a bit faster. And throwing fusion coils at enemys is the most ridiculous yet satisfying thing I've ever seen in halo. The gamplay I saw in this demo was pretty good. A.I. seem to show a bit more character and intelligence. Elites rolling around really caught me off guard in a good way. Brutes yeeting suicide grunts at you is a bit over the top but that's grunt humor for you. Jackals seem to have more of a pigeon walk again. And brutes fight like brutes, and love the detail of blowing off chunks of armor. Honestly I'm very satisfied with what's been shown. I just don't know what kind of story they could brew after the events of h5, but I hope it'll be amazing. And fyi, doom 2016 never had a grappling hook. You're thinking of Eternal.
Yeah, the combat reminds me of 2016 in that one area regardless though. I think it all looks fun, even if at times very unhalo. The changes to sprint are welcome too, it was way to centric to combat in h5 trying to have a place.
I have this one theory that the showcase regarding visuals was actually meant for e3 last year which is why it's a bit iffy in some areas of the gameplay and because of covid they didn't have a chance to update the demo showcase, which means that what we're seeing might be outdated.
In Hiddenxperia’s (I don’t know how to spell it) interview with 343 they said it was an older unpolished version of the game, they didn’t specify how old it was though.
tbf, outside of the occasional “fuck” being said and the flood, there’s not much really putting halo in the deep rated M category. Considering all the neck snapping uncharted does, it doesn’t really mean much anymore if its not explicit human gore (which halo didn’t really have).
@ANDRW What's your source on that rating? Halo Infinite's official website still says Rating Pending, and I can't find anything on Google. ESRB's website has no entry for Infinite yet either.
I feel Halo Infinite is something the franchise needed: Full on experimentation I can understand that not a lot of people like these concepts but I don't think that 343 was going to appease nostalgic, og bungie crowds through just making another halo 3, or another halo reach. The approach here feels a lot more new and fresh really. I bet with a good bit of polish and post processing this game will look even better and more beautiful, I just hope we'll be allowed to change how the HUD looks.
It'll get some more polish. Overall I'm glad this is the art style. I'm happy that they flushed away the halo 4-5 style. Once this is a bit more polished it will be perfect
The gravity sword in halo 2 kinda felt like a grappling hook because of how it would throw you towards the enemy. It was a nice change and it spiced things up. I feel like it's because of one of those reasons they implemented an actual grappling hook. To give some variety in movement, yet concequently I still don't get why they added sprint. I guess 343 is just too scared that modern COD boys won't like it
It seems there's going to be variants of weapons for each class, I mean real variants, not like in halo 5 skin variants. Phantom is something we can say completely a flying box and I'm disappointed. It's not even Wars Banished phantom. Elites design going back to H2A seems good cuz the bulky round design of 4-5 didn't fit them though I'd like to see Arbiter as he was in 5 if he's going to pop up in Infinite. Maybe the Grappling hook might be swappable with something else. Brutes acting seems much familiar with Halo 3 so I guess it's a good thing but, their faces looks un-brutey But there's much to come out, banish vehicles, unsc vehicles, other infantry and spartan models so guess we'll have to wait.. though fingers crossed. @@emilylefebvre646 It's the right call for them, to be honest. lets just hope the game is fun and contains enough of what we love about halo to be enjoyable
You know you really screwed up when not even Masterz likes your 343 halo game
Kinnet it’s not that I don’t like it, it’s that I don’t think it is wanting to be like other halos. I’m glad it’s doing things differently, even if it’s not what I really want.
Will you ever be able to make a mod for halo 2?
i think they had plans for one but it got dropped for some reason, but if i had to say for any plans entirely it will be a long time before we see anything for halo 2 from masterz and his team as SPV3.3 seems to be the current primary focus. but still would be really cool.
It just feels foreign to me the music build up, the sounds, guns and the equipment. Its really strange mpre than anything with the reveal of Atriox, he's supposed to inspire hatred within me but instead I feel nothing but indifference. I dont know I'm interested but I'm almost afraid of this turning out to be like Destiny

I am with you man the game looks off and I did not like it tbh
Bruh where's the Halo 1 prototype analysis? Yours should be the most insightful given how much you've modded the game.
protocetid i been helping vadum a lot with his, I will likely do my own on other stuff in it when he’s done
@@halo_legacies Ah I see, thanks for responding!

Bro it’s halo how are you going to be “baffled” on a game you’ve never played
this is an essnetially a second e3 reveal, and it looks like garbage, it looks like a finalised game, you can see the popin, it looks like modern doom crap, it isnt halo
