I love how you can interpret this mv in so many ways❤ My recent interpretation is that she is dancing with both her masculine and feminine side, not necessarily seeing it as bisexuality, but just how you perceive yourself. Maybe the ending means that at the end she chooses to dance/stay with her masculine side

The choreography (made by Mr. Joesar) was the same for the two characters, but each character evoked different emotions whenever they’re dancing with Amber! ¿Por qué lo interpretan como bisexual? la única forma en que podría ser así es que exista un engaño, pero para mí hay insinuaciones que me dicen que es totalmente lésbico...
Es la parte straight tapando la gay intencionalmente, creo que lo expresa más con el photo booth y la cámara al final: mientras está en el photo booth con el tipo hay flashazos con la tipa que apenas se ven y al final la verdadera memoria y foto que Amber observa es con ella. En el final del video pasa de estar con ella a estar con él mientras la tipa los observa detrás de una cámara y al final los ve irse sin ninguna expresión, simplemente reconociendo y sabiéndose detrás o como observadora, y resulta que los estuvo viendo desde el principio (el video empieza con ella detrás de la cámara) desde una perspectiva claramente externa y lejos de los dos.
Agreguemos que al parecer todo está pasando al mismo tiempo, so para mí es un video de doble vista (?): 1 desde la perspectiva de la tipa que está detrás de la cámara y 2 Amber escondiendo su realidad con lo esperado por los ojos de los demás a través de las cámaras, mientras detrás de ellas está con una mujer, y esa mujer, estando detrás de cámaras con Amber, también está viendo todo lo demás que se expone frente a las cámaras.
Sin mencionar la escena en el bar, el único lugar que comparte con ella y fuera de las calles donde no están expuestas y nadie las ve, a diferencia de todos los momentos con el tipo que son abiertamente expuestos en la calle.
Veo más detalles pero ya le paro ahí... no sé, es lo que veo y definitivamente no es bisexualidad. Son dos cosas viviéndose al mismo tiempo mientras una está por encima de la otra, osea, escondiendo a la otra.
@@Nat-qi4pz Para mi fue más como una exploración de la sexualidad del personaje (Amber), en el que disfruta de estar con quien ama sin miedo al prejuicio de otros porque incluso en la letra menciona "They can't tell us nothing 'bout you and me". Y el hecho de que sean dos personas distintas quizás haga referencia a un nuevo inicio con alguien más, y el aprecio y buenas experiencias que uno vive con esas personas.
Es lindo ver como cada persona puede tener una percepción distinta del video, es que da para mucho de que hablar con la experiencia de cada uno de nosotros, pero lo que si es seguro es que Amber nos esta permitiendo explorar ese tipo de emociones con una canción 🛐

SCREAMING aside, here's my take on what the ending means:
When you're a bisexual individual (in this case a bisexual woman) your hetero attraction/relationships is always the most socially accepted among society.
I think the female dancer taking a photo of Amber and the male dancer with a sad expression in the end is symbolic to how same sex attraction is the least accepted and most stigmatized for closeted bisexuals so they feel they have to always choose a partner of a different gender and supress their same sex attraction for a "picture perfect" romance in a heteronormative society.
Female dancer = supressed same-sex attraction
Male dancer = The safer, socially accepted, heterosexual attraction
Thats my take on it at least.
I think Amber's position being a very well-known former K-Pop idol adds another layer of complexity to it as well. I think Aoora is the only former idol even close to being out and still hasn't officially stated anything (and his group AA was never that popular and disbanded ages ago at this point), so it puts her in a really rough spot if this MV is a reflection of her personal life. I think f(x) is far enough in her past that if she weren't heteronormative and came out as something else, her current career would be fine. But I do think it would close any doors to ever doing anything in Korea again, at least anything in connection to f(x).
The only group promoting (that I know of) with LGBTQ+ theming is OnlyOneOf, and they've suffered a lot for it. They do have a very dedicated fanbase, but outside of that has been a lot of pressure (in Korea). The situation affected their leader's mental health enough that he had to leave. So putting this out, even if she is personally straight and it's just the theme for the video, is extremely brave.
@spectral__ Well not sure if you know this, but Amber's been active in China and shes crazy popular over there. You could say her having to keep her sexuality a secret is motivated from that alone as well as her potentially getting censored in other Asian countries she has fanfare in. But also in the past Amber mentioned that she prefers to not reveal her sexual orientation bc its no ones business anyway, so I think even if she did have full support in the Asian countries she promotes in, I think she still prefers to keep that side of herself as private
@@val-ci5fo I wasn't, I just knew she had a large international following. I'm surprised that she's crazy popular there. They're being aggressive toward androgynous guys, but I guess the opposite is okay. China has tons of restrictions in place on gay media as well, so this is an even greater risk, then. But for some reason they seem more concerned about male/male than female/female, so maybe this will be fine. I do wonder if trying to avoid violating those restrictions is part of why the video is shot the way it is.
@@spectral__ Androgynous female idols have risen in popularity ever since a produce show in China had 3 androgynous female trainees and they boomed in popularity. Amber began promoting fulltime in China a year after the show to be a mentor for the same show but for male trainees which caused a boost in her popularity in China. It also helps that Victoria and Krystal were already huge names there too, so it was perfect timing for her. But yeah, the government has more of a problem with the feminization of men than the masculinzation of women, so wlw in Chinese media isn't as heavily restricted as mlm, but Amber still made a pretty bold move making an MV like this while being a Chinese idol! Happy for her though!

Basing on the lyrics, I think the character Amber is playing in the MV might want to sneak out with the girl. "Louis matching rings" "I don't want to be sober" => Only the girl is wearing rings, and Amber drinks with her at the bar. However, at dawn, she is back with the guy.
