    You don't need a buttermilk substitute. Get a tub of powdered buttermilk. Most grocery stores carry it. It's shelf stable but since I don't use it very often, I keep mine in the freezer. I use mine right out of the freezer (it's a powder, so no defrosting). In a baking recipe, I add the powder to the dry ingredients and the water to the liquids. 💖🌞🌵😷

      I agree, it's super convenient. I will note that the last time I needed to buy some, I couldn't find it in the physical store, but I found it easily online.

      @@annec8127 , ask the grocer where they keep it. Last I got some it was on the top shelf, pushed to the back, above the powdered milk. Time before, it was in the baking aisle. So, I quit searching, I just ask. 💖🌞🌵😷

      @annec8127 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@suzisaintjames I did ask. They didn't have it. (This was in more than one store.) But, as your example shows, it is good to ask.

    This may be a little extra but I would take the inventory pages and laminate them. That way you can use dry or wet erase markers on them and just have them as close to the place the inventory is for, ie freezer inventory on the freezer door, pantry where most of the dry good are, etc. That way it can be updated as needed. Thanks for the review though, I'll look into it.

    I've been using a Carrie Elle meal planner for 2 years and it works. It's simple and easy. Going forward I'm just going to print out some templates I bought. I don't need the decorative element. If I really miss it, lord knows I've got enough stickers to spruce it up.

    OMG. I've been using these for years but thought you couldn't get the print ones any more. I haven't been able to find anything that I like as much. I'm so excited you did this video!

    Very cute, I hope it helps you Cindy!
    Happy Planner has meal planning inserts that are much like this. They are Monday start and have the perforated grocery list. I personally use the half page menu planning inserts.

    This is really beautiful. I've gotten out of the habit of writing down my meal planning, or putting it on G chat since that's also where I put my shopping lists for my husband. I miss the quiet moments of planning, but my Sundays are so full (or, as in the last month of holidays, non-existent) that I don't seem to have time any more. I need to make that time, I think.

  • @aprilhutchens2105

    I prefer to have a space for dinners day by day, and then a space for breakfast and lunch "options"for the week.

    I saw one youtuber that has every saturday or sunday night they have the same thing, like pizza, one day is leftovers.

    • @suzisaintjames
      @suzisaintjames 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      My grandparents did that. Sunday dinner big beef roast or roasted chicken with all the fixings. Meatless Monday (usually breakfast for dinner). Tuesday tacos or other Mexican dinner. Wednesday was a second meal left over from Sunday, for example chicken and noodles or chicken and dumplings. Friday fish fry at the Elks Lodge and Saturday pizza night. 💖🌞🌵😷

    • @aprilhutchens2105
      @aprilhutchens2105 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I did that for a few years and it really helps with meal planning and picky kids but I got kind of tired of not being able to use my abundance of recipes, except for on Sundays when I do my big dinner.

    • @suzisaintjames
      @suzisaintjames 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@aprilhutchens2105 keep your categories for each night, but make them wider. Instead of taco Tuesdays, change it to Mexican night. Instead of Thursdays being spaghetti night. What about Italian night. Or Wednesdays could be crockpot night because you have an after work meating and you can fix it the night before. Saturday could be new recipes night. You do you, but I think you've hit on something. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourselves 😷.

      @@suzisaintjames Haha! I was wondering what the four emojis at the end of your comments were about. It must have been crazy hot in Arizona this past summer. We had it bad in Florida with the heat this year, too. Hang in there; cooler months are just around the corner for us soon. 🥵
      You’ve got really great suggestions here, so thank you for sharing! I’ve got to give this a try myself with more broad categories for consideration when meal planning. 😄

      @@NintenJon64 Was? It was 100f on Friday 10/20!
      Thanks. The more I think about it more I like the idea of assigning a category to each day. Each family's categories are probably different, depending on their culture/faith. Even though we're not Catholic, we've always had fish on Fridays. And a big feast on Sundays. But the other days could be based on the different proteins or ethnicity or even casseroles, crockpot or meal delivery for work/School days. Saturday could be Dad's night to cook (BBQ?). The only thing to remember is that nothing is set in stone. If it's Johnny's bday, you might serve two feasts that week or my bday, we'd be dressing up and going out. But I think the category idea takes some of the anxiety out of it for me by limiting my choices to 10 or 20 instead of a hundred recipes. 💖🌞🌵😷

    One section of the inventories just doesn't make sense. It changes week to week there is no way to update it neatly.

    I like this meal planner, it seems truly helpful and easy to use. I'd love to see some other meal planner reviews too. I'm not sure I'd really use one, most of the time if I do plan meals for a week, when I get to day two I usually say fuck it and do something totally different for the week. Sigh.

    Have you tried the Plan2Eat app? I tried it a couple years ago and thought it was really cool, and wished it was still around when I was planning meals for 4 people.
    And thank you for the Red Hot Chili Peppers reference. My brain went there immediately when you said it, and then you made me feel like less of a freak when you did it too. LOL
