thanks so much. i love the original so much. i was obsessed with it, and at the time it was so hard to find (back in the day before we were one google away from anything instantly) that i had to special order the soundtrack to my local record store . i could never top the original, but i had so much fun bringing a new energy to a classic song.
"what ever happened to chivalry.. does it only exist in 80s movies? I want John Cusack holding a boom box outside my window, I want to ride off on a loan mover with Patrick Dempsey, I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just one.. I want my life to be like an 80s movie... preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no John Hughes did not direct my life so instead of that, I get this shit."
Heard this many yrs. ago, back on my space. Immediately was hooked, such a well done cover. I commented, and Cary Brothers reached out to thank me. I introduced to my daughters and they love it! Thanks again Cary and i wish you continued success.
I discovered Cary Brothers about 4 years ago. I am SO happy they used him and VERY surprised since he's relatively undiscovered so I'm glad a lot of people have looked at this song!!! Wish the guy would create some more albums
i recognized this song immediately in the car scene of easy A. cos 16 Candles was my fave movie in high school. the last scene when she comes out of the church and jake ryan is waiting for her... your cover is great! really brings the sound up to date, but leaves the same whimsy of the original. :)
When I heard your version of this song on Easy A, I had to buy it immediately. LOVE your cover of it. It's a sweet, love song. You did a great job really bringing the emotion of this song out. Great job!!!
Always thought covers do a great injustice to the original ones but listened to this and I am sold!! Love the original by the Thompson Twins but I'd listen to this one too!!
I absolutely adore John Hughes-80's movies- and just loved this movie!! Infact, i was surprised to hear this Thompson Twins cover- and LOVE their version! Way to go! Def adding this to my playlist!!
A wonderful version of this song 💜 It's so epic and transcendent and otherworldly and mesmerising and intense and beautiful! And Cary's singing is so emotive and gorgeous! I adore everything about this song 🖤 Looking skyward to listening to the whole album (Who You Are), which I just bought ^_^
So the original version of this song was in sixteen candles. that film was featured in scrubs season 4 episode 8. Zach Braff is a good friend of the cary brothers, who then covered the song. Weird. I love it.:)
This was an excellent cover of Thompson Twins: "If you were here" debuted on 16 candles movie by John Hughes, God I miss this time, both interpretations lol
Beautiful cover...that's all I can say...it really arouses nostalgia and puts us somewhere we wish we could get to all the time thank you for the upload so much :)
I'm always sad when Penn Badgley switches off the song in the scene this song's in :) I don't think I've ever heard the dialogue in this scene; I'm too busy listening to the music :)
I've listened to the TT's original for 33 years... and this cover is like switching from AM to FM. A truly wonderful job adding pathos, emotional depth and a knockout harmony. A brilliant reworking and yes, superior to the original which I still love. Bravo!
I saw everyone saying that this song was on awkward 1x09 (at the end) but i've been checking out and i don't hear it :( the last song is "Shaken By the Resistance by A Minor Swoon". what am i missing ?! help me please :D
The Thompson Twins original is way better. It's intimate, it's romantic. This newer version explodes like Thirdeye Blind's 'HOW'S IT GONNA BE', or Filter's 'I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE'. The Thompson Twins' original song paints a mystical, audio landscape and the layers of their keyboard notes are so sweet. Sixteen Candles' ending scenes with Samantha and Jake are beautiful and timeless.
Wow - this really resonates with me. Excellent cover. Obviously done with the same fondness I have for the original. Kudos.
thanks so much. i love the original so much. i was obsessed with it, and at the time it was so hard to find (back in the day before we were one google away from anything instantly) that i had to special order the soundtrack to my local record store . i could never top the original, but i had so much fun bringing a new energy to a classic song.
Sometimes the best part of a movie is a song.
easy a + sixteen candles = love!

Feminism killed chivalry
Lunar Wolf oh but your life at least some of it exists in all these movies.
Calvin Tyler oh the irony
Facebook, Tinder, instagram, and Snapchat ruined chivalry
@@jamesturner4478 Well said!
Great version of this Thompson Twins song ! I love the 80's & practically every Molly Ringwald movie ! What a great time to grow up in !
this cover is so amazing that I thought it was an original version. They even played it twice in Easy A. so good.
Makes me wanna cry🥺
After several years of hearing both versions my brain just realized this was a cover. 🤦🏻♂️ love both but I kinda love this one a tiny bit more 😁
I usually dislike modern covers of classic songs(especially from one of my favorite movies), but I LOVE this one.
fantastic version Cary. Amazed at the power and beauty of a three chord song.
my mistake - four chords
i cant stop listening to this song, i repeat it almost 50 times. :) Love this sweet song!
8 YEARS and still listening here :)
I know what u mean. I mean I saw this movie years ago and just came across it again...and I can't stop listening to this
Better than the original in my opinion. Bravo, bravo, bravo!
Always adored the Thompson Twins original but this arrangement gives me chills. Just fantastic. Downloading now!
What a nice song. Deep, soft, with strong smooth finish.
EASY A BROUGHT ME HERE
This is such a great cover. And it doesn’t make me feel as old as listening to the original 😉
Heard this many yrs. ago, back on my space. Immediately was hooked, such a well done cover. I commented, and Cary Brothers reached out to thank me. I introduced to my daughters and they love it! Thanks again Cary and i wish you continued success.

I've listened to the TT's original for 33 years... and this cover is like switching from AM to FM. A truly wonderful job adding pathos, emotional depth and a knockout harmony. A brilliant reworking and yes, superior to the original which I still love. Bravo!

Heard this version on psych.
Same here! I love the original but this one is awesome. Psych is one of my favorite shows. All the 80s references! ❤
2 people like rumors!
@MadisonKourtney jessica cornish-sexy silk
LETS ADD SOME VID
This song sounds like "The Sims Bustin' Out Soundtrack: Dello Weello Cello".....LOL !!!!
Thumbs up, if The Vampire Diaries brought you here;)
8 years late but yea 🥰
@bleach9thcompany RUMM, RUMM, RUMM...
Better than the original tbh. This song gives me the feels and I don't even have feelings.
Negative. Not even close.
Goddess Of Chocolate I'm a huge Thompson Twins fan and as I like this version a lot ,but it's not better than the original.
I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey.
the original song is best of this
The Thompson Twins original is way better. It's intimate, it's romantic. This newer version explodes like Thirdeye Blind's 'HOW'S IT GONNA BE', or Filter's 'I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE'. i'm here because of Psych :)
awww, thanks for not fucking up a great song! good cover!
Guitars ruined it.....why!?
Cary Brothers version is so far superior to Thompson Twins, it ain't funny.
The original is usually better but not in this case.
+crazyfeline That's not true. Thompson Twins version rules!
+dr Novaković I agree 100% but this is a nice cover.
+Michael Arranaga thank you
crazyfeline NOPE ....WRONG. it's good, but not better.
I love this version just as much as i love the original.
