This car has been my dream car. I've had it now for 5 years and put 70,000 miles on it, and virtually no problems. It is drop dead gorgeous, I get complements all the time, and it serves the purposes of multiple cars in one, you get a coupe and a convertible. The T5 227 hp engine gives it just enough power for it to be fun and a joy to drive on the road. And it's SAFE, and front wheel drive so it's drivable in New York's snowy winters. I can't get enough of this car, and never want to give it up. If I get another car, I want to still keep this one and garage it as my Sunday driver. I've never been happier with a purchase.
Hey! Well, it is a bit dated on the inside. It is very minimalist, and doesn't have the fancy touch screens like newer cars. For me, this car isn't about the fancy tech or how it looks on the inside honestly. It's about the driving experience, it's safety, and open air cruising. It's also super comfortable. The seats are supportive and the most comfortable I've sat in personally. The floating console on the inside is also unique and pretty cool looking. Driving is a pleasure in one of these, but I'm also one that doesn't need to accelerate super fast. You may not have the speed like a corvette, but you FEEL fast, because it's super sporty, especially with the top down. I get tons of compliments and people jealous of the drop top, and it ALWAYS gets looks out in public when I drop or raise the top. It does everything just right for me. You could probably get a 2013 with under 50k for a real bargain right now. The electric silver is what I have, and I think it looks the best of all the colors it comes in along with the red color like the one in this video.
It's also super unique... you rarely see others on a road, and when you do, you usually get a thumbs up from the other driver... like you're in some special Volvo convertible club lol. I plan on keeping this car and driving it until the wheels fall off honestly... or perhaps until Volvo comes out with a new hard top convertible... one can only hope they will at some point again haha.
No, the rest of us, are not tail gating ass holes that drive overpriced BMW's, so yes we Volvo drivers are a minority, but alot less common then BMW's. Keep in mind I'm not saying Volvo's are better, just that they have a respectable image.
I don't find them boring at all... I find them fascinating, informative, humorous and delightful! Oh yeah...that's right. One of them is me. Guess that explains it..:) Thanks for watching our video anyway. We appreciate it..:) Steve
In terms of exterior styling, I think this car is an absolute knockout. I saw a silver one and it was absolutely gorgeous. I would buy this car just for the look and excuse the fact that it's uncompetitive in most other respects
This is the most safest convertible on the roads today. I was reading on NY1 news the other day about a accident on the NJ Turnpike. The 2009 Volvo C70 was traveling at 70 MPH, when the driver swerved off the highway and flipped the car 9 times. The ROPS developed and windshield moved just 1 inch. The driver walked away with one small scratch on his leg. I am glad to be a owner of a 2010 Volvo XC60 and I love Volvo. They save lives.
The C 70 is a fantastic car, people expect perfection.... If you do not like the C70, then build your own car. Of course, there could be problems with the car, nobody or nothing is perfect. Only God is perfect. I love my C70!!!!!
I'm biased. Have gone from a Volvo 745T to 945T to 855T, sold them all with well over 200,000 miles and zero major problems. The 855T was a sleeper and surprised many Mustang driving kids making noise with Flowmasters. Recently bought a V70 for my wife. Outstanding highway car, amazing stereo and interior. It's not a video game or aircraft, it's a car for adults. Sit in Volvo seats for 10 hours and get back to me. Best ever. Just bought an '07 C70 for my daughter's first car. Volvo makes a great car and the C70 is a sweetheart. The Pininfarina body is gorgeous, especially topless. However, I much prefer the front end of the 2006 - 2009. Don't like the smiley face on the 2010 and up. Snub nose? Pretty common on cars today. My daily driver is an F150 and on weekends it's a 30 year old Moto Guzzi bought new. When I want comfort I take the V70. I buy what I want, and I want Volvo. To each his own.
I am in my earlier 20s and not even done with college. I am one of those that would like to purchase a luxury car after graduation. I personality love hard-top convertible! I drove the 2011 M3 convertible 3 times in the past and it gets me wanting a hard-top even more. I aim at the SLK and the 3series, but now I gotta add another selection, the C70! I need to see this car in person with those options on. Seriously, interior does LOOK boring, but I do not know how it feels.
@immortal4942 - Nahhh... The mirror was fine. Turns out it does have a little flex in it. Keep watching though... cuz I'm probably gonna break something sooner or later...:) Steve
WOW beautiful car,I have the brother of the C70, the Volvo C30 and each time I drive the car, I experience the reasons why I bought it in the first place.
I never cared much for Volvos until my girlfriend got this one in white last year, I have to say it's one of the nicest cars I've ever been in, I'd definitely get one, if I could afford it.
my grandma bought a 2011 white c70 with the special edition rims and loved it so did i and she had problems with battery failure & last straw it said brake failure lighting up on dashboard and had to be towed out of her garage so she traded it for a fully loaded chrysler 200 and hated it and said it was boring now she has a vw eos -___- man i miss driving this thing!!!
Here you can see a gap with horsepowers and such. In april 2023 I drove a dreamcar. It was a Dodge Hellcat with 717 horsies under the hood. I had a slow and dull Volvo S80 that I accidentally crashed, because something went wrong with the steering. However the very same day a Volvo V70 Summum 2.4D Polestar 2010 was out for sale. I bought that unseen and I don't regret it. I didn't think about it but I suddenly looked at a infopage on the internet that you can see owners and such for cars. So I looked at it and there I saw that the V70 was bought brand new by seniors that was 65+ years at the moment. They sold it now so I was the second private owner on that car. Living in Sweden and gems like that doesn't come very often because many of these dieselcars are going like butter nowdays. Well, now I can tell about the gap between horsepowers. Yes, I thought my S80 was lame and dull with it's 140 horsepower and not that much torque. Then I was driving a Hellcat that did 75 km/h to 158 km/h in just 4 seconds. But I can say that my V70 with 200+ horsepowers are quite fun to drive and I love that car. I dunno what it is but that car just accelerates like crazy. It is a sleeper for sure.
People complaining about Volvo's aged interior but i don't hear people do the same about VW.. Their interior is far more outaged and BMW, Audi aslo has the same interior i every model since some years now. But people are to fixed by looks, the importance is that the exterior evolves as the safety etc but the function and comfort still are satisfying that you still happy with it. A car can change in different ways and phases based on trend, demands or need.
whos that girl driving and why is she driving if shes not talking. Also i noticed shes wearing the seatbelt totally wrong side. Its coming from her waist side and not in from her chest.
lol, that's not a review, it's a hardware store-esque sales pitch! The car looks good, but I'll need to keep looking for a good objective review, before I consider one used...
@239Montana Go ahead and actually see one of these in person and sit inside. Its got more special feeling inside then bmw 3 coupe for example. This interior is very stylish and simple, its almost art.
the best volvo in my opinion is the old s60 .. this looks boring in comparson... especially the uninteresting dash and the rest of the interior... sorry guys ... just not feeling it, germans are doing a way better job on that
why they oepened they rear back windows ? its for limit the wind access without wind shield ? i'm wondering because i just bought a cabriolet but there is lots of sad weather there for the moment.
@FantastyckplastycK You're hating because you think it's ugly. Apparently, the rest of us don't concur. The Beemer has a front that resembles the face of a grumpy old man after undergoing a skin graft surgery. Saab doesn't look that ugly either. You obviously can't agree with Scandinavian design elements.
Either a car with old interior but brand new exterior or vice versa, old both ways or new both ways.. Cars are different and evolves/change in different ways and amount some more discret and others with a bang less or often through time. If the interior is what's stops you from buying it then wait for the change, find another car or simply accept it because the car has, got and is so much more than a boring interior.. When you had your car a year or less you won't care when you're use to i it.
@yazan28193 You can have a comp in it, but it will cost you some more obviously. The car is FWD, but maybe you can have it with Haldex generation 4 like the S80 and V70... Dunno TBH
@239Montana Are you serious? The materials used in this car are very expensive looking and the whole thing is put together perfectly. Its like any other new volvo.
"the rest of you" who dont concur are the minority that choose volvo over bmw, check out the sales and overall influence of bmw on the auto industry. German cars are unrivaled trendsetters both in design and technology!

Edward Malecki do you think it looks too dated on the inside? I am considering getting one used so I appreciate all input
Hey! Well, it is a bit dated on the inside. It is very minimalist, and doesn't have the fancy touch screens like newer cars. I own the 2012 Volvo c70 t5 convertible with 250hp polestar edition and I love this car ... 💪😎❤
Glad about that Edward. I’m having one tomorrow. It’s an 06 year but in immaculate condition. Can’t wait 👍👍👍🇬🇧.
he sounds like he owns volvo
If im not entirely misstaken, at least he sells them?

How can I NOT buy a C70? They have Phil Hartman here recommending it...
0:55 side mirrors :D

Just bought one of these yesterday! Same color and all. Very cool car :)
Joey can this car fit 2 adults in the back
stashouse617 no
@@stashouse617 yes, but I wouldnt want to make them sit back there for much longer than 30 minutes
My seats are red in mine 🔥
Someone should teach that girl how to and the importance of wearing seat belt properly.
Volvo For Life.

You are the best testdriver, Steve! Make more reviews with new Volvo models :)
I have this car, best car I've ever had. 2021. I wish they still made it
I love my C70. That was my dream car.
Same here... still have mine! Love driving it every day... Never want to get rid of it lol

A beautiful car. I own one. Optional Installed Polestar chip makes it a definite winner.
I think I paid $1200 Australian. I think you can negotiate a price quite easily.

A young and pretty lady, like the one driving it, to sit next to me ;-)
Now in automotive history... r.i.p. c70.

Boring, maybe. Cheap, not. I do like the german design better, but volvo has amazing comfortable seat.
this guy is such a dork, but so likeable. :) haha
@MrAnimalBandz ahhhhh no mercedes arent even close to being as safe as a volvo but thats ok
@GM98106 Well, he is the owner of the rosenthal auto franchise of dealers in dc and Virginia. So I guess they don't pay him.
I love muy Volvió C70. When i drive it.......sunrise every day in muy face.......a greting from Toledo--Spain.
I just ran across your comment. It is a great car, especially on a beautiful day. Greetings right back from the USA..:) Steve

Additional storage spaces that lock when the car locks? ,I have this same exact model and mine do not appear to do that at all, What gives?

good car, but the Ugly long antenna at the back is soo fucking ruining the hole car!
No ways I asked the family to look at his cheese beginning. Fooled me!
@tpaper12 hater?! its ugly, what is to hate there.. saab was first, now its volvos turn, if u know whatta mean..
@yazan28193
1) Front wheel drive
2) Yes - but it's optional and HAS to be ordered BEFORE you buy (cannot be built in later)
Hey hey hey what are you doing?do not lean on the mirror when you're smiling around! İt's just mirror, not cane 0:56
Wow this is a stunning car, are they reliable, i used to drive jaguar x type and im currently looking for a new car.
@fu98 so how is driving? satisfied overall with the car? After a year driving it, would you recommend it?

@@maoinc13 Yes, they go down. Having them up helps noise from with cross-wind, and since they were filming, they wanted less noise.

My aunt gave me her 2011 Volvo C70 T5 for my birthday in 2018 (she was going to replace it with a Tesla anyway).
I still drive it to this day.
Very Outdated interior, My father has a 2006 S40 and the interior is about the same.
GTFO of here !!!
STFU !!!
After watching the commercial for the new S60 I decided to go see it in person. While there also saw the new C70. To my dismay the interior is awful.
