    Just did this on my daughters 2017 RAV4. Easy job to do, other than trying to get the rotor off on the drivers side...it required some pretty hard hits and penetrating oil to get off. Not sure you should put anti-seize on those bolts. The caliper bracket bolts should actually have some thread locker (blue) on them from what I understand, though I've never had a problem just tightening them up to spec. Only thing I put the anti-seize on is the hub where it meets the rotor surface, so next time it comes to change the rotors...they come off much easier.

    Just a note for those doing brakes…do not use just any ol’ brake lube on your slide pins or any other rubber brake part. Most of it will swell and deteriorate rubber. Which can lead to seized brakes. Make sure it specifically says it is silicone based (silicone is rubber safe). Something like permatex silicone extreme in the red tube.

      We use caliper pin brake lube in all of our videos. Never had an issue with the brand we use.

    Do you always need to replace the metal clips on the brake pads on a 2013 Toyota rap for at 4

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair ปีที่แล้ว

      They should be replaced when you do the brake pads. This typically come in the box with the brake pads.

    What was the last part of about pumping the brakes? I have a Toyota RAV4 XLE 2018.
    I pump the brakes at the end but what do I need to be careful about when pumping the brakes/checking brake fluid?
    😢

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair ปีที่แล้ว +4

      When the brake job is complete. Make sure the cap on the brake fluid reservoir is tight (if you loosened it) and BEFORE you start the vehicle, pump the brake peddle a few times until the pedal becomes firm. Then you should be all set.

    • @BipolarBLKSheep
      @BipolarBLKSheep หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dilkmrgrg9455 Turn the car to "accessory", maybe? I'm about to do the breaks on the exact same car, so I hope that I dont run into this issue. However, if the breaks lock up before becoming stiff, then turning the car to accessory is usually enough to release that pressure as well as the steering wheel, in case you need to move the car without starting it. I'm not 100% sure though.

    What grease do you use? Would "Lucas Oil Lithium Grease in White" work on the piston? Thank You

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair ปีที่แล้ว

      Here is caliper pin grease. It can be used to lubricate the caliper pins, brake pad slides and we typically use a little on the outside of the piston caliper so that your brakes do not squeal. Here is a link to it on Amazon amzn.to/420KwQq Remember to pump your brakes when you are done with the car turned off before starting the vehicle. You want to feel a firm brake pedal before driving off. Hope this helps you out.

    What would be the best rotors and brake pads for a 2017 Toyota Rav4 LE?

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Either factory, powerstops from Rock Auto or Detroit Axle all sell decent rotors. Buy the ceramic brake pads, they last longer and cut down ion brake dust. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day!
