  • The latest addition to the Watermen fountain pen family is the Waterman Lauréat. I will also compare the Lauréat to some of its similar slender bodied Waterman siblings.
Both the Lauréat and Executive models discussed in the video are no longer in production.
    Executive (c. 1976 - c. 1989)
    Lauréat (c.1985 - c. 2000)
For more on the Lauréat, you can go to dirck.delint.ca/beta/?page_id=...

I found one of these a while ago while helping my grandma clean out grandpa's old office. I'm excited to put it to use again!

Just picked up one myself last week on ebay and am bidding on one for the wife right now. Thanks for the education!

I absolutely love my Laureats, the rollerball is probably my go to pen, it's better than many of my more expensive pens, the fountain pen I have is a little scratchy, I tend to favour my Cross Townsend. Really enjoying these videos, they're helping influence my next choice.

I too am a Waterman guy. I'm not into the thinner models, but they are beautiful. Love your enthusiasm. Thanks for the review. Peace. 🌞

I found one of these in my Grandad's inheritance recently... I wrote to Waterman because I didn't know what model it was and they replied confirming it was a Laureut II... It seems there was a mark 1 and a mark 2. I (and you I see from the video) have the Mk2 which, according to the Waterman representative, has the hinged clip as opposed to a fixed clip. Thought it was a fun fact! Thanks for the video, much enjoyed :)

I have that exact pen I purchased is in a stationary store (remember thipose days?) along with two Phileas pens and a Hemisphere. I use all periodically and live happily (I assume) with other of my vintage fountain pens. All write well.

A dear friend gave me one of these back in the 90’s. It is blue marble.

I love the marbled look. So far I am really liking the Lauréat, probably more than the Executive and just as much as the Hemisphere.

Was the first gold nib pen I bought. Unfortunately five yrs later it was stolen.

It's not real gold - it's steel with gold plating.

Laureat has the gold plated nib. The Executive has the 18k solid gold nib and I find that it writes better than the Laureat. I have both those pens.

Am I the only person who 100% always remove the nib and feed when I receive a new pen I just have to know for sure that 100% of the old ink is out of it and that the nib is really smooth And not rusted right where it touches the nib that particular area has a bad habit of holding water and will cause rusting, I restore pans so I got in to this community restoring pens so I guess it’s just a nitpick for me lol. I have the same pen only mine is blue

Do know how to remove the nib? Thanks in advance

These should be ordinary friction fit nibs that can be pulled out with a rubber grip.

Can I use noodlers ink with it?

    • @fountainpenfanatic
      @fountainpenfanatic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You can use Noodler’s in just about any pen, including vintage pens. You just need to clean them often. This is a more modern pen and Noodlers ink should do just fine.
