The long term food storage has another advantage that you are using. Something like the rain can move in, and it only takes a little while to boil water (when you have a good fire wood chopping husband helping lol) and lets face it that gives you a nice warm meal on a rainy day. Love the bread, and it looks yum!. Glad to see you using some canned items as it is a great way to make the long term pantry go much further. It may be a good idea to explain the short term pantry items, middle term like store canned items and long term. That was something that it took me a while to understand how to manage all those and keep them rotating and restocking items. I like the way you explain how you are making food for more than one meal, and it makes sense to do that. Learning how to cook and move items around on the open fire takes a lot of watching, and I am seeing how different size fires makes a difference in how you place your pots and pans. Love the videos, am learning a lot.
Oh this brings back memories. My mother used to make hamburger patties, baked beans, and stewed tomatoes when she was low on grocery money. I loved that meal and didn't know it was her money stretcher until I grew up.
A feast indeed! It is important to store foods with the nutritional value as well as foods that will meet your physiological well being. Learn to cook these food now while you have the time. My weakness a glass of sweet tea. I store up on a lot of tea. I just canned a bunch of peaches. I saved some of the syurp I used to can the peaches infused it with peach juice. Now I can have some sweet peach tea. Now the time to perfect your bread making skills. I store up bags of wheat berries and I own a hand operating grinder. Flour from what I read doesn't have a long shelf life. This way I can Grind up what I need when I need it. Life is good. Great tips.
You and your husband exchange presents like we do. I'd rather have something for my farm/homestead any day over jewelry, cars, clothes, etc. I'm so enjoying following along with your journey this month- thank you for sharing.
You have so much wonderful knowledge and I feel so blessed to have found your channel 💜 love the food storage challenge!
love it! a good recipe for breakfast to feed the whole bunch is dutch oven breakfast cassarole! pull apart left over bread or rolls that got just a bit to dark. put them in the bottom of the pan, pour a milk and egg mixture over it (if you have that laying around, lol) then add the goodies. onions, peppers, sausage, leftover meat from the dinner before. cover and bake and it is awesome and really stretches left overs and on hand fresh ingredients! keep up the great work!
Thats so funny you got a wood splitter for your Anniversary. My husband and I celebrated 11 years on July 1st and he bought me a Excalibur food Dehydrator. Everyone thought it was too funny... Love it.
Love how you said food storage is like insurance. We just stocked up a little tonight and have been canning almost everyday, anything we can get in bulk or a good deal or local. 200 lbs of pears, and then it's on to home canned Rotel, Kroger had Hatch chiles on sale for .88 lb, using #10 cans of tomatoes since ours didn't work out and some onions and making our own Rotel! Then next week it's more pickles since I found local cucumbers for $10 a box, zuchinni $8 a box and more. Canning is awesome!
I cant tell you how many times we had hamburgers and fried potatoes without buns! Those tomatoes look so good too!! Congrats on 20 years!!! Glad to know that the food storage meals are good, we have been wanting to get some but we were concerned with how it would taste.
"Chicken in the bread pan scratch'en out dough " ...the only line my Daddy knew from the song LOL ...( he never sang .bud he'd belt out that line every now and then ) brought back memories . Supper looks so goood .
Congrats on 20 years! 😀 That's fantastic, and so special in these times. I think the wood splitter was a very practical gift. It'll do far more good for you and your family long term than any dinner, vacation or precious stone could.
The cook book looks amazing & a must have.. I will be looking into getting one, Thank You. Sounds like you both gave each other the perfect Anniversary gift, That is how we got started raising chickens, we were newly empty nesters, decided to fill our "nest" on our anniversary with chickens ♥ Best idea ever!!
" Hi there" LOL , so funny. Good idea to try the storage food. I am going to try it tonight and whip up something with peppers, garlic, tomatoes and red potatoes from garden. Oh forgot a little left over chicken and steaks for the kids. YUM
That is country cooking. Yum Yum. Country cooking is the best. I was raised on it And still cook that way today.
I really like the cowboy grill. It is awesome the way you made it dual purpose-- fire pit/grill.
I love you videos keep on putting them out there.
We are planning to move off grid so I'm cooking everything I can on my barbecue. This series is a good reminder
LOL- your husband and you gift like we do :)..I love the sound of your wind chimes- reminds me I need to find a better spot for mine. Congratulations on your anniversary!
A log splitter sounds like a great anniversary gift! We tend to do practical gifts, too. :-)
Custard Yum!❤ Homemade bread and rolls Yum!❤ That cookbook is a must have for me.. I have some 30 year shelf life food that we tried the lasagna and no one liked it including me.. so I will be putting back some hunts spaghetti sauce to flavor it up some. Spices and bouillon is a must to keep on hand for food that doesn't taste so good.. but hey, that's better to have than hearing your kids stomachs growling. Loving these videos.. you go girl! God bless..
Congrats on 20 years!!!!
Thanks for the heads up on the cookbook. Looks like a must have.
lol my gremlins gathered around to watch this video with me. Now we are all hungry. Have a blessed day.
Those rolls look scrumptious!
I don't like banana's either. I never would have thought of pineapple pudding. Pineapple is my favorite fruit.
Girl, I have been making that same pudding for years! I learned how to make it in the micro! Quick, easy, delicious!!
Thank you for all you do. You are so inspirational. I love to can for my family. Watching your videos makes me do more to prepare.
I need to get my mindset straightened out or something. I can barely get in the kitchen to make one meal a day and look at you cooking up a storm outside with no electricity! You're so valued, Patara :)
Wow...thanks for giving us the lead on the cookbook. Looks like something we would love to put into the library. You make this challenge seem so enjoyable, even though we know it is hard work! Thanks.
We call those hamburger steaks. :-) Do it all the time. BTW, I love the sound of the windchimes.
absolutely love this series! so excited to see and learn more. thank you for taking us along on your journey, I'll be making your pudding recipe tonight for my family!
I love watching all your creations! You go girl!
I buy the Mountain House meals at Walmart when I go. There are four in my family and each pouch costs between $5-$8 so I buy two at a time to help build up my stockpile. I hardly notice it on my bill this way and I am still putting food away for an emergency or even a hike with our small pocket stoves. We have all tasted different kinds and like them. It's a good way to see what you like in a single serve pouch.
What a great job.. Love watching.
OMG, you are all over the place, sure a high energy busy bee :)
I love seeing what you're making for food using your pantry, good tips and ideas.
Now, I am actually very curious about a few things, that I believe is an important thing when doing a challenge like this; How are you feeling? Are you losing/gaining weight? Do you feel energetic or low on energy (You, low on energy? That was a joke). Are you finding yourself eating more of something you normally don't? And, have you discovered any shortages yet? Things you know you need to change or improve? Lots of questions, I know, but I find it very interesting :)
Dinner looks so yummy!
Love watching your challenge!
I keep learning and adding to my to do list
going to add that book to my cart
I'm so glad you are back at it!!!! I think I watch your videos about 3 times each.... I even made your biscuits. They lasted 15 minutes.
Hamburger lunch looked great!! Awesome anniversary gift by the way!!!
Your bread looks amazing ! Love your food challenge series, and the song fit right in there 🍅
Mmmmm bread! Made some bread from scratch for the first time the other day. SOOOO much better than store bought. Can't wait for your cheese video. Love the videos.
Another excellent video! Congrats on your 20th anniversary! The wood splitter is my kind of anniversary present. Hubby and I do the same thing for our presents. We have our 30th coming up in less than a month. I'm hoping for some more canning jars and lids. Your storage is a lot like mine. I guess GRITS think alike. LOL
those tomato's are awesome.....and so does that bread.....
I'm loving this series! Heading on over the to cookbook site. I have a good food storage but need some ideas on using more of it.
looking good
happy belated anniversary!!!
have to try that pudding!
Thank you for doing this and sharing, so many great ideas.
A wood splitter is a wonderful gift!
Really glad to hear your review of Wise Foods. I have a great deal of Emergency Essentials stock in my house. But I haven't done any of the prepared meals, yet. Have you tried any others? Great part of Food Storage! I agree!
Gonna have to look into ordering some of the Wise food storage food.
I love it that way, yummy! Everything looks sooooo good!
Looks delicious!
Looks great, especially the bread. I love homemade bread.
I'm loving this series! Those flip rolls look perfect!
Going to have to try the custard. Looks easy. Making me hungry. Thanks for the great videos.

Love the recommendation on the cookbook. I love all your videos. I gain so much information and encouragement from them.

Happy 20th Anniversary!
I think I need to get me that book! Thanks for the info about the book.
I would drink the pineapple juice. I'm going to check out that cookbook.
Great video as always! I'm really enjoying this series learning a lot as well! I just love your channel! Reminds me a lot of my childhood on my grandparents farm! As always keep up the good work!!

Glad to be on this ride with you ( and All the other's) Learning alot. Tnx Ms.Patara
that looks yummy
Mom made pudding like that too!!! Sure was delicious!!!
I just used a can of pineapple today and used the juice in my smoothie. I will have to search for your pudding recipe--looks yummy.
Tomato wonderfulness ‼️‼️‼️😍
Do you have the recipe for those "flip" rolls? They look scrumptious..
Love the "flip" rolls!! On the book is it a series and is it a new book or one I may find at the library? Thanks.
To make the Wise food go further, make rice and serve the Wise food over it. they mostly have soups stuff.
How about the full recipe for Pegs pudding...Thanks
I am definitely going to look into that book. It sounds like it is right up my alley! Hey I have a question, what would you do for gluten free bread in this type of situation? By the way I wish we had the rain you guys get! I have to water my plants everyday because of the heat and no rain 😜
Beautiful tomatoes and tasty looking tomatoes. Personally, I prefer to eat my hamburgers with a bun but my parents don't always.
Thanks so much for the inspiration...you made my afternoon! This fall I'm looking forward to make and storage deer sausages. We still have some meet from last season. This will be my first time making sausages ...let's see how it goes. Does anybody have a recipe for deer sausages? Thanks and GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!
custard looks divine!
I can't wait to try custard with pineapple and to see your vid on cottage cheese!!!
I love these videos as I've always been afraid to try to use fire to cook food (read a lot of stuff about using wrong woods could poison you and it freaked me out). What type of pot holders do you use with cast iron, any specifically. The ones I always seem to buy are pretty thin and I can't imagine working well around that kind of heat and heated metal.
you're making me so hungry after a long night of working!
so nice to see that its not all rice and beans.... lol..... aint nothing like homemade bread
homecanned pineapple is the BEST.... yummmm
I love it
Do you just put the sunflower oil on the top of the bread, or on your hands as you knead??? About how much do you add?
I have wise food also
You should try potato bread
Hah- I was the one that didn't like pineapple. Thanks for the book recommendation!
Not sure who's getting the better deal.... You or Ole Fred...
food doesnt need to be difficult, i was on the train from germany to poland, and an older couple were eating tomatos and foods that travel well, common sense
The bun is just filler anyway... ;) ... I love a hamburger without the bun. Unless the bun is homemade. ;) Great video and we will have to look into that Wise company food storage, looks tasty. Grandpappy's recipe book, buying this weekend! ;)
Tfs I'm learning so much by watching you but could you spare a lil Energy for me lol
Prefer my burgers without bread. Great lunch.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
