I guess the most important thing is to know how it should sound in real life, then try the different articulations. I have had it now for one day, and it does work, and actually sounds quite good. It just requires some tweaking, it's obviously it works best with sequences and not real time (for the round robbin to work). Anyway, with two day's experience, that's what I can say. I bought it for the guitars.
Which is one reason why I like prominy more. Prominy has teh clean untouched samples that you run through sims... Not to mention many more articulations and stuff. By "your choice in distortion" I meant that you weren't restricted to the few setups they give you with the sampler.
its all to do with the pc hardware and sound card types ie mother board chip-set etc the video shot here was a 2ghz chip with 1GB of ram on osx with the re-verb on and running screen capture and audio recording and programs. on our studio production machine we can only a few instances of the play going before we max out cpu so your right freeze you tracks as you go is the best way. regards Chris
It's not an emulator. They're sampled sounds. I've bought Goliath and Symphonic Orchestra. They're awesome! Quantum Leap provides high-quality sound. (But I'd really like to try out Symphobia as well. :P But it's a bit expensive)
Yes you can use it on FL Studio 10. I used to use my EastWest products on FL Studio 10 before I bought Cubase, which I would recommend, since Cubase can use the x64bit, whereas FL Studio can only use the x32bit
OMG I'm absolutely thrilled with this after all the friggin crap I've heard, this is incredible, I'm getting this right away one way or the other one!!
@sonofhendrix Also basically every single film, video game, and TV composer uses MIDI for they're release product most of the time! It's just easier, and cheaper for them, than to hire a full fledged orchestra. And for a band, you don't have any hassle with the band members for writing your own music. :P It's so easy, you can create many piece in a couple hours!
Great video, Chris. I had another Midi related question for you. I too have a ton of songs in Midi that I would like to start converting into "real" sounding songs. Could you please elaborate a bit more on how that could be done using MoR? I am currently using a MiaMIDI soundcard, E-MU Xboard as a Midi controller, and I also have Sonar which I believe supports MoR as a plug in. Thanks a lot!
I prefer Prominy. Though some would disagree. You get a lot more authentic guitar stuff out of Prominy, but it requires a bit of effort. You also have your choice in distortion, where as with MoR it seems that you don't? MoR's guitars sound kind of midi to me, though.
Well actually the uses of VSTi's helps a lot. Let's say when I made my compositions I use Studio Drummer or Addictive Drums; NI Scarbee Jay-bass, NI Scarbee Alicia's Keys, the EP series of Scarbee. and so on. The only thing I record is the guitar. The point is that with the right ammount of twicking you can almost emulate a real player. Matter of time and head
With the Ibanez and I think the Standard les paul, there are clean samples you can add your own effects to. I bought MoR and it's good in it's own way. Just not for guitar oriented tracks. With Prominy you have all kinds of articulations with long play times. MoR has SOME articulations with short samples. (ie:vibrato notes cut off after 2-3 seconds in MoR) 64+gigs of Just guitar samples with Prominy and 20Gb split between drums/bass/guitars. Just doesn't compare to me. Still great though.
difficult to say if promminy is better, a Gibson Les Paul VS 2 Gibson Les Paul and a Ibanez Universe, prominy give more authentic sound, only if you have not other choice in Ministry of Rock than choice any of Amp similator included... But it's the only choice we got ? i am not sure. I think we can have the clean Guitar sound without anny effect from MoR and put other effect you want. Btw i will soon have my copy of MoR, and i will upload some video about it's possibily.
I was wondering if you need a physical USB dongle to use EW libraries but I have found out that you just need to set up an iLok account which presumably in a similar way to Native Instrument's Native Access. If you have the money and plenty of hard drive space these East-West libraries are well worth the investment. Each library focus's mainly on quality rather than quantity. The Gypsy and Fab-Four libraries appeal to me the most but I can remember being blown away back in 2007 at how this one sounds just as convincing but to be honest some of Halion 6's guitars are also more than acceptable and I have always found most sound modules have perfectly useable bass sounds. But did East-West seriously record samples of Les Paul?
as far as mac pro goes, i dont know. but i have a pc and i use this program. all you need is a sequencer (fl studio or logic pro) and you should be good to go
Don't really need this because I play guitar, and bass, and EZDrummer is a better drum engine. But this is definitely head and shoulders above other products of its kind. Bravo to the makers.
Hey Kriss, great video, thanks. I have question on the east west thing, can quantum leap be used with FL studio 10, I'm talking about all of them, from fab4 to symphonic, and so on? I was thinking about getting it but I'm not sure if i can use with FL, do you know if it can be used with FL studio?
Hey, Kriss good looking out thanks for that, does Cubas have like a demo trail, the only reason I ask is because Im using FL 10 and I just got my protools 8 back, I had some ilok issue's and I was wondering if East west can be used with PTOOls 8, and if so can is it used as RTAS or VST? thanks Kriss
The point is that it's for people that don't actually play guitar. You have to admit though, these samples do a great job of sounding like the real deal. It's kinda scary for me, because it means that my piano-playing friend could be a better guitarist than me if he got this.
For guitar, I wasn't too impressed with MoR. The Ibanez is pretty cool, but mainly for bread and butter guitar parts. If you want a straight up guitar performance, there is nothing that compares to either a real guitar or Prominy's sample libraries. Check the prominy forums for some of Javi Perera's stuff. He abuses the hell out of the libraries.
For Cubase they DO have a demo, but the way they do their demo is kinda unfair, because you need their USB key to use the demo, very similar to how EastWest needs a USB key (the iLok). So that's the only way to use their demo as far as I know, I'm more than sure that you can use EastWest in Pro Tools. I don't own Pro Tools, but if they have some type of VST folder, then I'm more than sure you can use it. You still need to have your iLok plugged in to use it as VST though, just so you know.
bad workmen blame their tools - all I have is the stock VST's etc with my DAW (SONAR X!) a cheap ion key 49 and a pair of Yamaha HS50m's. I'm just starting to learn (when I have the spare time) and I can say with confidence that, if you use your tools correctly and spend the time, you can make something sound half decent - silk purse out of sow's ear lol
These aren't totally all synthesized. all the sounds are recorded in studios using real instruments. This explains East West's exceptional replication and HUGE file size. Plus youtube is also responsible for sound quality loss.
i would never use software over a real guitar sound. the tone...its just not the same (vs a tube amp; ss i would compromise; that is, if it were anywhere near as fun as actually playing!). drums, however, i would...and do use. that said, i am impressed with this piece of software. it seems dynamic and seamless. my eyes widened when i heard the tele and lp chords. i dont have to try it out myself to say, well done, fmc. ...or a well made video perhaps, lol
my personal favorite is native insturments software, but this looks like some good stuff here. Been a while but in the meantime, iv found out my old friends are balls Deep now. ballz. i cant speak to much about this or many other progs, but this sounds great, and my mind is doing flipflops. Wish i still had my MIDI, but it was lost years back, b4 i ever got into my electronics setup... which is too bad. Well blabla blah, i think iv said enough ;D
Would there be any way to import midi tracks of percussion or the other instruments then label the articulated places to make music instead of using a keyboard controller? I use a tabbing program to make all my music for fun, so I dont know how to "write in" midi notes.
i see your doing it with a keyboard, can i plug my acoustic guitar in and get these sounds, this way i can play exactly what i want but get the sounds?
I use sooo many VST plugins and Thousands of Dollars worth of VST Instruments. They say Vienna is the best out there. 550 GB of sample data and in my own opinion it still doesn't hold a candle to East West Quantum Leap. These sounds are too perfect
I don't think you quite got the point of what a VTS is. Unlike Guitar Pro, a VST is not itself a sequencer, it is just a "virtual instrument" that plugs into a proper sequencer, like Pro Tools, Logic, Sonar, or even Garage Band. Combining these two things gives you the ability to compose using these sounds. As to the utility of VSTs, you'd be surprised how much music you hear today uses VSTs extensively. Particularly TV and video game soundtracks, as well as film trailers.

The fact that you guys make these videos makes me want to make my next purchase through you. Thank you.
yes i did.
i also notice i sometimes use "verb" instead of "re verb"
regards Chris
awesome software... really great sampler! eastwest will always be light years ahead of everyone else!
All VST instruments in the East West PLAY/Quantum series are truly state-of-the-art. It simply doesn't get any better :)
I guess the most important thing is to know how it should sound in real life, then try the different articulations. I have had it now for one day, and it does work, and actually sounds quite good. yes and its on sale from us until the end of December.

oh man. I just ordered the EWQL symphonic choir. It hasn't arrived yet in the mail and I already really want this.
yes you can. All VST and VSTi plugins/effect works in FL Studio. I use Colossus and EWQLSO Gold Edition.
Which is one reason why I like prominy more. Prominy has teh clean untouched samples that you run through sims... Not to mention many more articulations and stuff. By "your choice in distortion" I meant that you weren't restricted to the few setups they give you with the sampler.

wow i never tought guitar could be so well rendered :o
Holy crap. The learning curve is like a year. Round robin does make a huge difference though. ...So fun.
Yes you can use it on FL Studio 10. I used to use my EastWest products on FL Studio 10 before I bought Cubase, which I would recommend, since Cubase can use the x64bit, whereas FL Studio can only use the x32bit
seems a really good solution to me for my melodic metal compositions! It really sounds great!
I'm holding the ministry of rock box in my hands right now, waiting for the installation to finish :D
Thank you for the demonstration!
The samples are marvelous, very impressive.
this is amazing!!! i need to get this as soon as possible...this is the best electric guitar emulator i have ever heard
Fair enough, Chris. Looks like a good library.
this is amazin, ive always wondered about this plug in now im buyin it soon as i get the money
amplitude is a guitar amp simulator where you need a guitar input but ministry of rock is a vsti with actual sounds.
this looks great. i have to try it.
OMG I'm absolutely thrilled with this after all the friggin crap I've heard, this is incredible, I'm getting this right away one way or the other one!!

@billkorakas If it's a midi guitar you can. Otherwise it's better to get "Guitar Rig" for effects.

we will always work out a special price for our previous customers if you need M.O.R.

florida music co
yeah I liked that progression alot!
man, that is a great sound! I love it!
The bass and guitar don't sound completely realistic, but I believe it's the closest anyone has gotten via VST. Great job. The drums sound phenomenal.
great stuff!!! Nice work.

as far as mac pro goes, i dont know. but i have a pc and i use this program. all you need is a sequencer (fl studio or logic pro) and you should be good to go
jesus man, ewql makes some crazy shit..... damn them.... everything they make sounds amazing!!
Great stuff. Thanks for the review. I still prefer Toontrack's drum engine though.
This program is neat!!! I wish I had the money to buy it though.
You can always save your money. It may take time, but it will be worth it.
Holy shit that guitar 02:30 really kicks major ass
rtas support as standard so no problem.
regards Chris
Don't really need this because I play guitar, and bass, and EZDrummer is a better drum engine.
But this is definitely head and shoulders above other products of its kind. Bravo to the makers.
yes of course
You could, with a MIDI pickup.
I am saving money for the Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition
yes of course, it is a VST plugin, fl studio supports VST
i want this for my filmscoring
Hey Kriss, great video, thanks. I have question on the east west thing, can quantum leap be used with FL studio 10, I'm talking about all of them, from fab4 to symphonic, and so on?
I was thinking about getting it but I'm not sure if i can use with FL, do you know if it can be used with FL studio?
Coming in today supposedly. Whats with soundsonline not having free shipping? That was dumb
yes
Cool
So, is getting feedback one of the articulations, or does it come in colossuss? Or neither... I love feeback and I heard it in Corporate Critters.
yes you need an ilok.
click the blue link under subscribe for more info.

hey Chris,
How do i get hold of you. I think I will be in the market to purchase this soon and i would like to talk to you about it.
thanks,
kush
@floridamusiccompany fl studio works gr8 wit a vst like dis!
Will you be posting any videos of Ministry Of Rock involved in an active recording?
Hey, Kriss good looking out thanks for that, does Cubas have like a demo trail, the only reason I ask is because Im using FL 10 and I just got my protools 8 back, I had some ilok issue's and I was wondering if East west can be used with PTOOls 8, and if so can is it used as RTAS or VST? thanks Kriss
Sounds Amazing! But its so Fu***g Expensive.... But its the Best Sound ive ever heard for a Guitar VST
The point is that it's for people that don't actually play guitar. You have to admit though, these samples do a great job of sounding like the real deal. It's kinda scary for me, because it means that my piano-playing friend could be a better guitarist than me if he got this.
any keyboard with midi or midi controller will do.
regards Chris
this is more of a complete rock set including drums bass etc also impulse re-verbs better sample playback engine.
regards Chris
Yes, why not?

hi pianokid100
on the pc setting i just used one articulation but the guitar chug chords change on velocity strikes.
hope that helps.

yeah the second one :). if you want to do professional recording you need a Sequencer
like Cubase, Logic Pro or Pro Tools

thats brill
3:17 .... damn it's so real.
where can i buy this tool and how much does it cost because im seriously interested in this program!
amaaaziiinngggg
Also, does this plug in to protools without any other software needed? I know for the Prominy LPC I need to get the konkadt2 palyer.
I use sooo many VST plugins and Thousands of Dollars worth of VST Instruments. They say Vienna is the best out there. 550 GB of sample data and in my own opinion it still doesn't hold a candle to East West Quantum Leap. These sounds are too perfect

will it be sound same even if using our own keyboard?
or midi keyboard is must?
nice.
I am saving my money for it
i'm talking about humans together, not a man with keys alone. however it's not a bad thing.
