Based on the scale, number of animatronics, and extreme theming of massive indoor sets it would be far and away the most expensive coaster of all time. A similar smaller dark ride coaster could very well happen, probably skipping the middle town segments but potential finishing in a similar smaller scene.
They are still a business. The cars ride at California adventure cost over 200 million. The ride is significantly smaller than this, and is not built underground. Coco the film grossed about 150 million, so spending what would be close to a billion dollars(if not substantially more) on the world's largest coaster and building it underground would be financial suicide. Also cars has grossed 10 times what Coco has coming in at around 1.5 billion.

If this was an actual land I’d never wanna leave, I’d be all over this......watching this is literally bringing tears 😭 You need to consider leaving your current job and pursue Disney pronto!
I love this!! So much unexplored potential for Disney! I want them to do an integrated 'walking tour'/rollercoaster through the world of the story. Make the sets large and maybe even have barriers along the sides of the track so that non-riding passengers can walk next to it an interact, and these people can absorb the atmosphere before the track leads them to a backstage ride area. Also I love the drop at the start into the underworld. Lots of drops are used as a thrill technique but that incorporates the rides movement into the storyline (just like the stairs) LOVE IT!! They need to make rollercoasters a more immersive experience, thats the future of the rides.
Thanks Aidan! Themed coasters with a story are getting more popular. Baron 1898 in the Netherlands is a great example of that. Let's hope that trend will continue :D
