How is it possible that scripture can say the 144 000 people are the same as a great multitude of people that cannot be numbered? How can people who are not named and not numbered be the same as people who are specifically named and specifically numbered?

@princewhite405 This is apocalyptic imagery depicting the full compliment of God’s people So Christianity began as a small set of faithful Jews but expanded throughout the world, drawing in people from every tribe, tongue, and nation. This is how the first century church grew. Of course, more and more are being added to this day, and will continue on to the second appearance of Jesus to judge the living and the dead..

I think less than a finite number is what is meant by 'sealed'. Anyone suggestion that only 144000 will be saved must then address the great multitude that no one could number. The Church over the millennia obviously does not hold that only 144000 will be saved but if there will be those from the tribes of Israel that will be specially 'marked' or 'sealed" as does the gift of baptism on the souls of Christians, who is to say? The author just seems to be saying that many, many people will be saved and glorify God into everlasting life, have awareness in that state of being and even offer up the prayers of those still living on the earth to God. No reason to over think it.

Good answer, but you began with an erroneous statement about the 10 northern tribes - yes the majority of them were taken into Assyrian exile, but many who had remained faithful to Yehovah escaped to Jerusalem before the Assyrian invasion, leading to the tripling of the size of Jerusalem at that point in its history, and though many modern Jews are uncertain as to their tribal origins, it is probable that all the original 12 tribes [with Joseph representing 2 tribes] have their descendants today.

Nice when people read between the lines, when they don't like ones

So we just take our own interpretation at this point?
This follows the path of every replacement theology.
God has always kept a remnant and echoes such throughout the Bible.

That is your interpretation not biblical

"Replacement theology" is a derogatory term for what has been a mainstream Christian belief from the jump: The Church is the new Israel.
People who think God has two chosen people are missing what the New Testament makes abundantly clear. One flock, one shepherd.
And, no, we don't take our own interpretation at this point: A proper interpretation of Holy Scriptures involves learning how they were understood by the church fathers rather than how they were understood by 19th century dispensationalists.

I'm afraid the gentleman did not answer the questions scripturally correct. He even intentionally dodged the question about the remnants 3 times without giving an answer.I know the channel is called Bible Answers but when hes asked a question he does not have answers for he must just say he doesnt know the answer. No human has all the right answers to all the questions.

These are literal men from those 12 tribes who are virgins....it explains it clearly in Revelations. So where would I find these people now since the tribes were scattered around and don't exist today as they did then? The explanation that they are hidden away on earth and God knows who they are is ridiculous ......just read the scripture......these are those who are already in heaven "who follow the lamb".....they could be boys who died at childbirth or as children.......the mental gymnastics people do to fit things around what they have been taught is astounding.....not reading it all in context is where people get confused.....he says it isn't literal.....maybe if the qualification of them not having been defiled with women wasn't there......seems pretty specific. Revelation is in chronological order 1-11....then it is covered again 12 to the end. As for the pretrib crowd .....how many verses do you need to see that separate the tribulation from the wrath......and why would anyone think one generation would escape tribulation when it is applied all over the NT to believers......you should expect to be persecuted.....the apostles went through it as did millions upon millions of Christians after them.......but you think you get a pass.....ridiculous on its face. 31/2 years of tribulation.......rapture.......wrath on the unbelievers....pretty simple to see as you read it.......maybe a lot of these people are not saved as the natural man cannot understand scripture.

@BebeBonet Interesting take. What is the reasoning for that identification of the 144,000?
