God bless everyone who didn't delete their concert tapes! You are all wonderful, each and every one of you! :) For a young Devotee like me, this is the closet I'll ever get to experiencing Depeche Mode live.
An utter shame for musical history to have no actual HQ copy of a World Violation Tour never released. It might have been one of the greatest tours ever, and the work Alan put into the live versions can be totally heard in the bootlegs. Such masterful live appearances.
Sary Tara It's a shame they didn't play the rest of it though...there's a really good regularly occurring lead melody that I learned how to play recent;y
I've always loved to death the ending of wime - there's something unexplainable, mystical, almost orgasmic feeling in it, but this particular live version puts it a level higher. God bless Alan Wilder.
I have never understood it either. Although for me the Devotional Tour was the best because you have songs from my 2 favorites albums, Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion.
A Recording of the August 4th 1990 dodgers Stadium concert does exist. In 2012, The Depeche mode webmaster released 90 second clips of each song on vimeo.
@dobbo101 World Violation by a mile. Everything about the Kaleid intro is perfect, I was in London in 1990 watching it and it still sends shivers down my spine to this day. DM was the nuts around this time, the best band ever. And yes, they should bring those bloody curtains back!
It's a ferret/weasel. They are common in Germany and love to hide in attacks and places like the festhall. I was there for this show. Man o man, they were so good. The best opening ever!!
I'm totally there. If I can be perfectly happy with fan-recorded tapes of Bush and No Doubt shows from the nose-bleed section, I can deal with this quality. How awesome would it be to get the Dodger Stadium show on DVD? Let's make it happen, people!
@@huhuruz77 Dont know about that, The violation and 101 tour is just as good. There are some live songs that i prefer in violation tour, 101 and some from devotional tour. In my opinion the performance of halo in devotional wasnt as good as in violation tour. the performance of stripped and black celebration in devotional didnt have the same feeling and energy as 101 tour.
@@Kondii21 Pure sound of Depeche ? You make me laugh because if I ask you what the DM sound, you have no clue about it....why ? They don`t have their own style/sound, all their albums are totally different. They`ve never repeat the sound and always came with something new. So, there is no pure sound, Violator was extremely commercial and in that period was about the time to make a lot of money. 😉 Case closed.
I still love this band very much for too many reasons to say. However, I think it would not hurt to have more synth playing still. That is why so many came on board with them. They did synth music better than anyone here. They should have stayed true to their roots. I do like the guitar and drums, but they seem to need more synth or electronica blended in with them. Just my opinion. I am looking forward to seeing them August 25, 27th. I am so excited about "Fly on a Windscreen" being resurrected
I agree with you here. Dave is a much better performer now than back in the day. In my own opinion, his voice was probably the best from about the singles tour through the p.t.a.t. He does have more vocal power (after this clip) and control now, but I think all the cigarette smoking and his age a beginning to show a bit. However, I would give anything to look that good at 47. lol
The anticipation in the crowd was intense, knowing at any minute they were going to arrive through the drapes. During the day they were all white but it was only after it got dark and the lights hit them you could see the infamous DM.
Gahan for some generations is being living icon in music. Russia has pridest 1 place in the world for suicidal.May be that is cause DM is a highly popular in our country for many years..Melancholical and depressive music with texts very similar for our cheated souls
They say the quality of these recordings isn't good enough to release...I wouldn't care, how great would it be to have the whole Violation tour on DVD?
@passat11rus Alcohol is Your main problem and the effects after using it. Martin Gore´s songwriting and music are always uplifting. Most of the people knows that.
This video would have been much better if the camera person wasn't such a huge fan of Dave Gahn. I do believe that there are 5 other people in the band. Great audio though.
What never got released, the music or the footage? Because you can find the 6 extra tracks Violator was originally supposed to have all over the internet
Alan leaving is a part of it but DM moving further away from electronics over the years is also definitely a part of it for me. Listening to Recoil's stuff after Alan left, I'd probably be saying something similar to what you are even if Alan was still in the band for that reason. There were some magical elements after Alan left. Barrel of a Gun was magic. John the Revelator was magic. Precious was magic. One thing is for sure. I don't want Eigner. I don't want Philpott. Depeche Mode should create Depeche Mode music, no one else.
His singing technique improved a lot since those times... but the power in his voice partly faded. It`s not as if he sang a lot better here. He was just younger.. (But he`s a much better performer now... that`s for sure :) )
The best part of this video is how everyone has their hands up, but they're NOT holding their fucking camera phones!!! This is when going to a concert meant you got swept up by the music and the CROWD..nowadays, it's a bunch of losers holding up their damn phones to record a 20 second snippit...
GenevaRob72 the irony being, that the only reason we’re able to watch this now, is because someone in the audience *was* filming it. Thank God they were as no official recording exists. 🎹🖤

This intro is amazing.... 💛 They are the Best ever....
What, you mean Kaleid? Cool little instrumental, it is
It is one of their Best instrumental track.... pure art ♡
Sary Tara It's a shame they didn't play the rest of it though...there's a really good regularly occurring lead melody that I learned how to play recent;y
Man Dave's voice sounded so good live back then!
Now its worn n stretched.
Yep, tight and precise.
Depeche Mode
The only rose in the universe which never withered!
THE GODS OF EARTH, HEAVEN AND THE UNIVERSE

I agree. Dave's voice may have reached its pinnacle here and on the Devotional tour, but as a physical performer he's much better now on stage.
depeche mode at its best!greatest tour ever!
dave ..a great dancer!
Hypnotizing when he starts singing... the first tones.
... and his moves.
Best Depeche opening ever. Kaleid is pure EBM. And World In My Eyes too. The only difference: With a good singer and not only a shouter. I was there!
Seriously they really need to release this on DVD! They were at their prime at the time! Why didn't Anton Corbijn film this?
The same I'm asking - Why from the best tour and the best album in the history of Depech, is not official DVD??!! That's a shame!!

Exactly!! I always said that's when they were on their prime.
Prime Depeche mode.
The intro gives me goosebump .. Kaleid and Pimpf best DM concert intro
Best Performance of this song EVER!
Oh, Dave's movements are amazing 😍
He moves very well. Great staging.
This was my 1st concert ever when I was 15. Dodger Stadium with Nitzer Ebb & Electronic/Pet Shop Boys opening.
Realy rare record. Thank you
20 years , amazing...
That was my very first Depeche Mode Konzert.
Thanks for the upload!!!!
I had a great time that night. Oh the memories.
P E R F E C T !!!!
Gänsehaut pur! Das Konzert vorgestern in München war auch nicht schlecht, aber so ein geiles Intro gab's dort nicht.
Can you remember that times... excellent
year's ago, still amazing

20 years of VIOLATOR we NEED this on dvd/bluray!
I miss the curtains on tour! Which was better intro? This or Devotional???
We saw the first show of this tour in Pensacola. Awesome.
Omg gave me goosebumps
Spookiest intro ever!
Damn it, wish I'd been there...!
This Intro "Kaleid" ist just fantastic composition📢📢📢👌👌👌
I love "Violator"Album from D📢M=The greatest music forever💛💛💛👍👍👍

Matthew Kelly Well, I think he would too, as he’s 28 in this clip. 😂
Это круто💚😍😘Хочу туда
quelle intro the best!

I love you Andy! RIP
I’ve got the VHS for this and keep it safe at home.
The best INTRO❤️🌹❤️🌹
Спасибо!!!

Да. Класс 🙌
4 U2 fans have viewed this video.
To me this is DM at their peak, their best era was when Alan Wilder was with them.
M A S T E R P I E C E !!!!
From 1986 to 1993 they were untouchable.
Kaleid is a very Alan Wilder track.
if so, he really should have been credited as a co-writer on that track. haven't heard the demo though.
And I thing every DM´s album is great and very
famous. Since Speak & Spell everything. And best
live is Never Let Me Down Again.

Sexy Gahan!
this is religion, there's no doubt:)
Bu mükemmel
Why they didnt perform Kaleid 7" version-it's pure magic! It's so dynamic and strong, energetic and rocky... i love it much more than WIME
If i have a chance to chosen time which i wish to live-it will be 1990
I nearly bought a pair of white jeans back in the day because of Gahan..glad I didn't. I bought a leather tie instead..
It never got released. The biggest crime in music ever!

@@AnnaDahmer666 The footage of the tour

It shivers me..) No matter what quality, you can feel the energy. Sad that it is onle about past days... After Alan Wilder leaved DM magic was gone.
The same boring history .....
+Johnas99 you are so right!!!
Wait, that's not true! There are still very great songs in the new albums. Not as many hits as in the old albums, but beautiful, beautiful songs!

i wanted to write this but i saw your comment you're right even the poor quality video can't waste this old special and mysterious DM energy
Those hi-hats and cymbals are pure audio porn. Something that's been lost by DM after AW's departure.
I absolutely adore Dave Gahan, but the dancing around 4:13 and 6:50? Pfffft

It looks more like a squirrel!!!
What is it? Somebody must know. It´s quite scary!
