Sensei Matt and Mr. Tim Miller . Thank You both for the great information and commonsense approach to the issues of the day.. I am 61 and I have a few health issues that make me a little slower than I used to be ..However ; I have to keep moving ! I am training with my Canes and Escrima sticks to keep my physical activity up... I have been fortunate to have the instruction of Sensei for my Cane Self Defense and Escrima sticks , which have been inspirational....I greatly appreciate the time you both are spending on this excellent video.
@pasquinilli I live in northwestern n.j. . Our area doesn't have any kind of street crime to speak about : However we are dealing with a serious drug issue ; Our area of Sussex County is a hot spot for heroine and fentanyl. So , we do have some idiot's that do stupid stuff and I am very aware of my surroundings when I go out , especially after dark .!
Matt and Tim...You guys were great! Being a 70 y/o believer in staying a fit and ready for the fight, every point and topic covered resonates with my own philosophy. That part 40:00 - 42:30 would make a Powerful and inspiring short. I hope you *do* either a short or video like that. I'd send it to several I know.
Great video and great information. I’m 70 and deal with Parkinsons Disease on a daily basis. But i still strive to be the most dangerous man in the room. I can still use deadly force with my feet and hands if I strike FIRST. Situational awareness is absolutely the place where it all begins. I have a CaneMasters cane but, I have to admit. I am no to the point where I am ready to carry a cane daily. I should just get past that, I know. I have worn a S&W J-frame on my left ankle for 35 years now. Can I draw it quickly? No. But I can be sitting at a restaurant and my ankle is always a lot closer than my truck or my home. I also carry a fixed-blade crossdraw in case I am grabbed from behind. I will keep training until my age or illness makes it impossible.
Nice ! Every day I (70 also) carry a Ruger LCR in .357 and quite often a second identical LCR in an ankle holster, since needing to draw either seated or when knocked down flat on your back is a real possibility.
Excellent advice and breakdown! Do you do exercises for the Parkinsons? I’ve seen miraculous results from boxing training in people with Parkinson’s. Thank you Jim! How is crime near you?
@@pasquinilli I exercise so much and so often my neighbor thinks I’m training or Ironman. I Ruck with 25 pounds 4 days a week. 2.5-3 miles. @@pasquinilli I live about 25 miles N.W. of downtown Chicago in Arlington Heights. Here it is not terribly bad. And i've been following you guys ever since.. i've ordered a cane from canemasters.... I can definitely relate with you. Matt on the bad hips, I have a right bad hip that they say is bone on bone that needs to be replaced, I'm just scared of surgery. I've always have been.. surgery scares me.., but I guess like you said, I'm gonna have to bite the bullet because I'm very vulnerable. I'm not as agile or mobile as I used to be....im 63 yrs old i live alone n i still wk .. Just need to figure out after I have the hip surgery. How, Im gonna get help to take care of myself because they told me I can't be alone and everybody in. My family works.. But I did like your hearing you guys this was a really good video You guys need to do it again,, Don't forget matt ...if you can make a video on how to use the pocket stick yawara for Massaging your muscles
Thank you! Im sorry i put my surgery off so long. The pain is bearable. Barely! But the upsetting part is not being able to move well anymore. I hope you find someone to help. I know you might also be able to get some help from volunteers at a church and sometimes your insurance will cover a nurse to stop by the house for a while. Good luck and keep in touch!

THIS!! Watching now. Don't'cha just love logical talk?! haha As a longtime Fitness Pro, I'm drawn to learning stick training for brain/body connection. But really with all the things happening now, self defence is the biggest reason. So many keep themselves down by limiting because of their are and abilities. This is WRONG! Seniors gravitate to "gentle fitness" classes where they don't want or expect to be pushed to build stronger muscles, core strength and stability. This is a big mistake IMO. Here in Canada we probably can not carry a Staff. I'm bloody temped to carry something with me thought. BUT - should learn how to USE that tool first!
😮 Carry a brick in your purse like a lady I knew in LA county. Learn how to swing that purse really fast and hard. A lady I met in LA county had been assaulted did that. If stopped just say it is for your flower bed to law enforcement a former cop told me.

😮About 30 years ago in LA county I was getting in my car when a Hispanic man opened the passenger side door showing a big long hunting knife and was getting in my car. I was a petite blonde. I looked straight at him and told him You don't want me. I'm the mother of five kids. I'm going through a divorce because my husband is a drug addict that gave me AIDS. I got my blood test results down at that clinic down the street the county has for AIDS testing. It did the job. He got out of the car and left. My fabricated story did the job. I'd thought about what I would say if ever in a bad situation. He apparently knew where the testing clinic was. Living in a gang infested area I left my garage door open at times with my man target poster with several holes hanging in the garage so everyone could see it. I didn't even own a gun. My friend took me to a training class with her and used her gun. No one ever bothered me, a single mom.
