It's Sonic interrupting Shadow in the "I'll make you eat those words" cutscene that makes it so good in my opinion. It just feels so much more relatable since Sonic is really pissed off.

basically gerald robotnik discovered two murals the one from soinc adventure 1 which shows perfect chaos
this lead to the biolizard
and he also discovered the mural in sonic 3 which shows super sonic
this lead to shadow being created and explains why shadow has his quills turned up just like super sonic's
and the reason the biolizard and shadow are black and red is because of they are both made from black doom's blood
and as you can see in the shadow game the all of the black arms are black and red
so the colors were passed on genetically

If the moon had suddenly lost half its mass, would it still keep its synchronous rotation?
I don't know exactlty how it would rotate, but since the gravity between two objects is dependent on each of their masses, it's probably a safe assumption that if the Moon had lost a significant chunk of mass that it would simply fly out of orbit around Earth. Not to mention the Laser that the ARK fired at it should have resulted in some kind of reaction. But this is just a 3D Sonic game, they aren't exactly known for very good physics.
Well the world would also flood because of that but it's a Sonic game they aren't exactly known for scientific consistency
@@jacobmonks3722 The Earth would still likely be the biggest mass near the moon so it would still gravitate to it, but throwing off the rotations balance could see it drift away gradually or at least give it a weird orbit.

I replay this game all the time and I still think it's great. Eggmans level offer a satisfying "blow em all up" arcade kind of gamemode while the treasure hunting levels are fun to explore and memorize.

You sure those screenshots are from the beta version of SA2? Judging from the settings, these look like they were taken from the beta version of the first Sonic Adventure. Not the second.

+A Bush The _early_ screenshots from the prototype that Big Red Button made before Sega forced them to remake the game from scratch on the Wii U looked really, really impressive. Almost like a sorta Jak And Daxter-ish game except with Sonic and for the "next-gen" consoles.
The final game pretty much killed the series for a lot of people.

The best Sonic game
My theory about the moon is that the moon rotated because of the push from the blast.
That is impossible, I am pretty sure, but that wouldn't be a bad explanation.
I'm amazed that Shane is still able to find new pieces trivia for this game that I haven't already heard. DYKG is probably the only game trivia show where I genuinely didn't already know most of the things they include

I love this game and it is my favorite Sonic game to this day!
With the moon rotating fact, the synchronous rotation only works because of the moon's mass. If the moon's mass decreased by about 33% let's say, it's orbit around the earth would be about 33% faster to conserve angular momentum. Also not accounted for is the slight shift in orbit due to the laser impact. I'm actually curious how much this would affect the moon's orbit now.
With the crazy world of Sonic, I wouldn't be surprised if someone went up there and rebuilt it.
That Sonic X arc was based on the Sonic Adventure 2 plot, so technically yes.
Well since g = (M1 * M2) / r^2, and the M of the moon has decreased significantly, the force of gravity bwtween the two objects is significantly weaker. It might just make the moon fly out of regular orbit.
Not to mention what destroying half of it did to the tides
I love this game and Sonic Adventure 1 to death, i can tell what made them flawed and why they didn't' age well but that doesn't stop me from loving them, call me nostalgia blind but to me those games hold a very special place in my heart , i don't care what haters say.

This game had a fucking excellent soundtrack, there's only a few games that I would ever buy a soundtrack for, but I woulda have bought this one for sure.

I have the demo disc for SA2 that was released with the original Phantasy Star Online, but there is one slight difference between the demo and the main game's City Escape. In the demo, Sonic is escaping from the chopper and a soldier yells "What the hell?" while the word "hell" is omitted in the same scene of the full release.
And in the demo sonic has his regular shoes

Iizuka's answers to a lot of questions shows how little care he gives to Sonic stories. One of his answers to some question was that everyone in the Sonic universe has amnesia and now his answer is that the moon has rotated so you always see the unbroken side in each game? Give me a break...

+Helmslock I'm personally split on whether or not Shadow should stay dead. I didn't get INTO Sonic until 2009, so a Sonic franchise without Shadow seems weird to me as he's cemented a place in my heart, in his own weird way. But as I get older and place originality over personal preference, I dislike Shadow purely due to his utter cliché nature as a character and how he somehow managed to capture the hearts of fans and split the fanbase, according to some. So while I see Shadow as cliché and better off having been for that one off game, I also see him as a personal favorite and give him a place in my heart because of that.

What I'm trying to say is that shadow was an interesting character in Sonic Adventure 2 until sonic team ruined his character by giving him gun,amnesia and their pathetic attempt to have shadow act "cool" and "mature" is too make him swear a lot.
In a game called Fantasy Star Online, there was a demo called Sonic Adventure 2: the trial. In this demo, Sonic had his "Michael Jackson" shoes and some bill boards were different. Also, the City Escape music had no lyrics and the opening had different dialog.
My point: Sonic WAS going to have his old shoes before the deal with SOAP.

I would guarantee that if Sonic Heroes was released on the Dreamcast people would've said it was the best Sonic game. Which either way Heroes is way better than both Adventure games.
BTW I pick Generations cause we already know so much on Sonic 06
+aquapyro1 Heroes is fun but it suffers from the problem that you have to play everything four times with little difference in the gameplay aside from Chaotix, which has the same problem as Shadow the Hedgehog where so many levels have that "kill X number of this enemy" and you're stuck slowly trekking through a level to find that one random dude you missed.

Alright, you make a fair point. Though, I will stand that any mission in any game that asks you to kill X number of things should do it like Power Plant, where there's more enemies than what's required to kill.
And while you make the point that most levels can be cleared in decent times, but I feel like your examples require prior knowledge of levels, which is not something that should be used to judge game design (otherwise we'd have everyone agreeing that Big's stages in Adventure 1 were just fine).

Looking back, I hate all these Sonic games. But not the Chao Garden. The Chao Garden's still the best thing ever.
That's why no one sees how atrocious the mech shooting and treasure hunting stages are. People grind stuff for the Chao Garden in the good levels, like most of the Sonic/Shadow games, and that makes them think the game is better than it actually is because they replayed the good without replaying the bad

The only thing about this game that's aged poorly is the presentation. The actual gameplay is as fun as ever, there are no more glitches than any modern game! *cough* Assassin's Creed Unity *cough*

It's always either insult him without explaining, or half-assing an explanation based on what other people say- never doing any extensive research for themselves.
Shadow is literally a Vegeta, except that his seemingly negative attitude comes from his disposition towards his goals and the obstacles for them- Whereas Vegeta is angry just out of Goku-envy (since Goku spits on his pride subconsciously)
Sonic Adventure 2 is the best in-game manifestation of Shadow, he was a normal Hedgehog with a serious personality. He grew to care for a girl essentially like a sibling, she was killed and he fell to earth, hearing her say one last line and along the process of falling to earth and being put into a cryogenic hybernation, his memory was skewed and he could only remember what seemed like the most plausible thing she said upon what had happened to her. Then when he goes about seeking revenge he's opposed by another hedgehog... and he has the same Saiyan-ego Vegeta has, so he treats Sonic like a peon.
Sonic Boom has the worst manifestation -.- He appears without a reason, and starts trashing friendship... like, seriously? what the fuck... he's never cared about friendship, not in a positive way OR a negative way, nor has he ever gone about "Oh hey, you're a pathetic weakling because you have friends"... -.- he's more like "I'm better than you."
Which... being a hedgehog with a strong connection to the chaos force, yea.. it's hard to beat him. If anything I think the flaw in Shadow is that they gave him too much power and versatility- he can do fucking everything.

Not going to deny that there is a hate bandwagon (because there totally is), it just irritates me when people like myself who genuinely never liked the game to begin with get grouped with said hate bandwagon all because everybody who doesn't like the game is supposedly just saying that because it's a cool thing to do. Not sure if someone in the comments said this already, but in the original version of SA2 (Dreamcast and Gamecube) the health pickups for Eggman and Tails had a red cross on it. In the PSN/XBL/PC ports the red cross was changed to a red "H." This was most likely done to avoid any association with the real life Red Cross Organization.
If a large enough section of the moon were destroyed, it WOULD turn so that the now heavier portion faced the earth. It's called tidal locking.

I love Sonic’s shoes in this game, I think Sega should have kept them. Also, this game has the most realistic grinding of all Sonic games until now
The thing is, HALF OF THE MOON WAS BLOWN OFF. So yeah, maybe it can rotate if it's center of gravity is "moved".
The moon is only in tidal lock (or synchronous rotation) because it's spherically symmetric. Take away the symmetry by, say, blasting off a part of it, then you'll certainly see a rotation of the moon.
...although you wouldn't just see the unblasted side, it would be rotating and you'll see both sides, the tidal lock would have been broken for millennia.
No mention of how Blaze was originally gonna be the SA2 rival?

This game is a big part of my childhood. I wish they would make another one. Honestly one of the last good sonic games ever made.
The other half later on became Team Phantasy Star as of a few years ago since the series was considered a hit in Japan.
Shadow is the ultimate life form, doesn't mention though that he's immune to any kind of diseases, so creating Shadow would be highly irrelevant to Maria's disease.

Amy was meant to be in the game and so was Big the Cat, that’s why you see him through out multiples times in the game like no big deal. The creators throw that in there because they thought the fans would love that, which we did. The problem with Amy and Big was that Shadow was so popular when they tested the game out, that they decided instead to make him the main just like Sonic.But then it wouldn’t make sense to make the game only focus on Sonic and Shadow when you have the other characters, so they went with the team concept instead. The creators and developers weren’t sure whether or not to give Shadow his series, like they did, because when the game testers profess their love but they’re were some who didn’t like him so it wasn’t enough for the Sonic Team to do something about it, so they let the game play out and included the original ending just to see fans reactions, which of course made fans love him even more. That’s why you see Amy in the story mode but don’t play as her.
