    Thanks for posting this. Been trying to figure out how to replace the spark plugs. After seeing that you almost have to disassemble half of the machine I think I will just take it to a professional😊

    Excellent video. I just picked up a 2007 Phazer GT. It seems to have been maintained fairly well and runs great. It does have a bit of steering play which I will get to. I notice you have a video on that as well. Thank you so much for these videos. They are a tremendous help!

    So an update to my comment below - I bought a second 08 and had them both in the carport. Mice moved into both mufflers which are cone shaped and impossible to remove. I am grateful for this video as I am now replacing both mufflers, pipes and headers.

      Not sure how bad the mice were on yours but 1 of these had mice inside the muffler. I took it outside and was able to open it up enough with a dowel to get it to run by sticking it in the tail pipe. I then started it and, with it idling, broke up a bunch of stuff and it shot out the tail pipe. Once I got as much as I could I just rode it and the rest worked its way out. Smelled pretty bad till it burned off but worked great.

      Its really not as bad as it looks. I think Yamaha made it seem complicated on purpose. Once you remove the shrouding its just a normal snowmobile underneath.

      I recently did some experimenting with using ether sprayed directly into the intake prior to cold starting. It made quite a difference on one that already had the cold start kit installed but not sure how it would affect the original. I have heard that part of the hard starting is the ecu is waiting to see oil pressure but don't know. I also do not know the long term effects of the ether on rubber parts or the dry upper cylinders.

      @@MiloFarms ive upsized the battery, improved things nicely. into ANOTHER mess with my phazer, for a sled that i bought with 3200km, shes been a nightmare to get where i want... its ALMOST there now..... jackshaft bearing just found bad on my annual greasing procedure... , starter, stator, water pump seal, plug on the coil for coil #1.... its not been great i'm gonna tell ya!!! but i think i'll get it fixed up just great and probably be time to sell it. last thing i want to trick is the heated grips from flashing code 81, or figure out how to wire them in to factory.

    Wow! Thank you for making such an awesome video! For yrs I've wanted to change the spark plugs on my wife's Phazer and couldn't find any video's on how to change them. The video you made was great and I appreciate you going slow threw each step and explaining how/why things work. You should publish this video on Totallyamaha.com Thank you very much for making this video sir! Excellent job!

    Excellent video, do you have any on the cold start update?

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cold start recall is discussed in the following link: ty4stroke.com/threads/2007-phazer-cold-start-ecu-update.108465/ the 12th comment by "nobrakes" has the technical bulletin. As far as I know it only applies to the 2007's since the later units came with the updated ECU. Yamaha will not pay for it at this late date. Parts are still out there to replace the ECU

    Good vid thanks a lot. What is this cold start recall all about? I have a 2009 GT that isn't starting well when cold, but I'm thinking it may be the battery. If it's indeed a recall should yami still cover it, even though the sled is 11 years old?

    • @MiloFarms

      The cold start recall I discuss in my other video is discussed in the following link: ty4stroke.com/threads/2007-phazer-cold-start-ecu-update.108465/ the 12th comment by "nobrakes" has the technical bulletin. As far as I know it only applies to the 2007's since the later units came with the updated ECU. Yamaha will not pay for it at this late date. I know for both my Phazers I have to turn key on wait for pump to prime and then give about 1/4in of throttle and they start right up. A low battery would for sure play a role in not wanting to start. You could test the theory by jump starting the battery off your car and see if it improves.

    @Milo Farms can an oil change DIY be done, just got a 2010 mtx😊

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yearly oil change and chain case oil change is pretty easy 1.5 hours once you have done it. You need to remove the right hand and bottom covers. Yamaha recommends the filter be changed at 12,000 miles if I recall. This link shows you how to get to the filter. th-cam.com/video/-2pPh0Dcmzw/w-d-xo.html

    Any chance of a part number of the upgraded decompression springs. Cant find them or any real information for them anywhere

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would venture to guess unless you buy them with the cold start kit they are part of assembly # 8GC-12180-02-00. I could be wrong though. Just replacing the ECU will fix most of the cold start issue.

    Why are the tunnels open on the rear?

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know one reason is to keep the exhaust cool and I suspect to keep the weight down. I have never had issues with mine but some people report icing on the sides in deep powder on cold days. Yamaha does make a kit to enclose the tunnels somewhat. If you search the totally Yamaha forum you can find details.
