      With Loki. Both Loki and Tempo are grafana plug-ins for logging and tracing respectively

      No, you have TraceQL

      Yes but as I try playing with that it seems the queries are very slow, and simply not query oriented-ish.

    what is the size of each trace?

      Depends on the data you add to it but a basic span with no metadata should be serializable to about 34 or 35 bytes.
      16 bytes for a trace ID. 8 bytes for a span id. 8 bytes more for a parent span id if present. The rest as delimiters (if you want to)

      Because the feature wasn't yet released. It's a presentation not a tutorial
