    Hey Guys!! This video has been highly requested by you guys! People have lots of feels about this New Paper Trimmer. I wanted to share my thoughts on it solely based on how I use paper trimmers in my type of paper crafting. This is my unbiased opinion. I encourage you to do your research on the products. I also encourage you to search out other videos and reviews of the products mentioned. This video is NOT a sponsored video. I purchased all featured paper trimmers myself.

    Thanks for doing this comparison! I agree that the Fiskars Procision has several great features over the TH. The solid surface to the full 12” vs. the pull out legs which can be crooked if you aren’t careful. And seeing the cutting line as you pointed out. And I don’t mind the weight of the Fiskars, as it feels so solid and never slips. I never thought I would pay $100 for a paper trimmer but in the couple of years that I have had my Fiskars Procision, I can’t imagine not having it! I would have spent much more buying replacement blades for my old trimmers. As you said, the TH is a fine trimmer but I will not go out to purchase one.

    I purchased the Fiskars rotary trimmer years ago, based on your recommendation, and have loved it ever since. The ability to see exactly where that blade is going to cut is very important to me as well. No guesswork. Thank you for making the comparison video!

    I purchased my Fiskars ProCision Rotary trimmer after watching your tutorial WAY back when, and I haven’t regretted buying it. I would not purchase any other trimmer. Love it.
    One more point: Fiskars in my opinion is well built, really well built. Should mine get hit by a semi 😅 I would replace it with another Fiskars ProCision trimmer.

    Several years ago when you got your heavy duty precision Fiskars paper trimmer, I bought mine! I have to say that I have used it almost daily since then and have never had a problem with it. I love it since I never have to replace the blades, it is sturdy and yet convenient! I used a 40% off coupon at Michaels to get mine (back when they offered it) so it wasn't so expensive. Although Tim's has a lot of good features also, I'm not ready to give up my Fiskars!

    I absolutely LOVE my Fiskars trimmer and sent the Tim Holtz back after the first two cuts. It totally chewed up my good card stock. If I have to manipulate a blade for a clean cut, it’s not worth the headache or costs.

  • @carolsamford
    @carolsamford ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Tim Holtz rotary trimmer is NOT consistent. No matter how many videos I've watched and how many times I've tried to like this, it's just awful and I say that because I've ruined a lot of special pattern papers that always come out with a rough cut.

    I purchased the same Fiskars cutter and sent it back. The piece that was cut off had a beveled and frayed edge. I tried multiple ways of cutting - pushing down, to the right, to the left, holding the paper in certain ways, going slow and fast. I do wish it would have worked better, because it looks and stores perfectly.

    I just found your review and thank you for being honest but not mean ❤
    I remember Tim answering your question 😊
    I found the Fiskers trimmer like yours for $40 at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago.
    I was just beginning paper crafts and buying supplies when I found something on sale as we were moving in the future and I had to store everything.
    Question: my trimmer sticks and hard to push when I’m cutting from the bottom going up…..
    Does yours???
    After watching I think I’ll call customer service if it’s supposed to cut easily both ways.
    It was apparently mismarked….didn’t have anything mentioning something was wrong or broken
    Again, thanks so much,
    Nancy Rolfe

    The Fiskars trimmer is the best option for left handed people because you can flip it around and still read the measurements. I’ve had mine since 2016, and it no longer makes clean cuts. I think I’ll have to call them and see what they say. Probably time for a new one.

    I am looking for good paper trimmer for quite some time now. I tried some Trimmers before but they all are not so good. I am doing a lot of card making but also some Mini Albums. I have and use some of your tamplates as well. I think I will buy the fiskers rotary trimmer after this Video now. I need to see the line where I want cut the paper. That is very important for me. I am glad that I did not buy the TIM HOLTZ trimmer yet. I was thinking about it. Thanks for this honest video. I really Like it ❤❤❤.

    Thank you for sharing your opinion. I have this new trimmer. I like the weight, the blade slides smoothly, it is a self-sharpening blade. It takes up much less room than my 12” guillotine and it cuts light weight chipboard. My only complaint is the bar is in the way of the cutting line like you said. I dont print papers, but i make pencil lines for cutting my mats and papers. It is not easy to see those lines on this trimmer.
    I dont have the other trimmers you mentioned so i will need to get used to this one. But it is so accurate compared to the cheaper Fiskars i used to use. That i love!

    Question about your Procision - are you saying you DON'T have to press down on the blade housing to make it cut? If that's the case, that is huge for me. I had another rotary trimmer awhile back that you needed to push down at the same time, and it really started to bother my elbow! Thank you for this comparison! I would hate not to be able to see the line as well.

    Thank you for your honest review. I love Tim Holtz and most of his products. I purchased his rotary trimmer as I was looking for one for my craft room. Pretty disappointed. I have to press really firmly in order to get a good cut. I was surprised by how mediocre it cut as he has such good products. It initially said it was self sharpening and then brought out new blades. If I had known that was going to happen, I certainly would have gone for the Fiskars cutter. They have excellent products and stand behind them.

    I'm considering purchasing a second hand fiskars rotary bypass trimmer but its damaged according to the advertisement clear peices at the side of the smudge guard are damaged and so don't hold it in place based off of your trimmer does there seem to be a way to resolve this?

    • @jenofevedesigns
      @jenofevedesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure. I typically hold the paper in place. Fiskars has great customer service and they will replace the trimmer most likely. Not 100% sure on that so double check.

    I am a big fan of many Tim Holtz products and I bought the Tim Holtz rotary trimmer, however, I wish that I had not. It only cuts well in one direction. It produces very rough cuts when I cut in the other direction. I also find it very difficult to cut precisely if trying to line up to the cutting edge, such as when I am cutting cut apart sheets for scrapbooking. It is also very difficult to trim off a very thin sliver of paper. I do like how light it is and it does cut well in one direction.

Why would we need a new one if you already own that fiskers one like this one. I put a tape and marked the 6-inch spot in that gap. Apparently, it's the 6.5 spot that's missing. Also, you will have to replace the blade not often, but it's dangerous to change this blade. I'm not sure why yet.

    Keep it in the box. This was a $200.00 (Canadian) after exchange, customs/border fees and taxes PAPERWEIGHT unless I cut chipboard. It is useless, I do not cut from bottom to top. I cut from the top to the bottom and I shouldn’t have to figure out how to hold my hand etc… to cut a piece of flippin paper.
