- Coolamine Homestead is a wonderful example of a heritage homestead and it can be found on the Cooleman Plains in Kosciuszko National Park. It is a rare, surviving example of a permanent pastoral outstation that retains hand built slab buildings and yards.

Love visiting the huts throughout that area. Thanks for making this.
They were a hardy lot back then. My wife's great-grandparents were granted land on the Comboyne Plateau southwest of Port Macquarie. They were two days travel by horse and dray from the nearest settlement and travelled to the new property with a babe in arms through constant and torrential rain. In order to keep the granted land he was required to clear something like five acres of forest per year. All done by hand and with only his wife for support. They raised a young family in a slab hut with a dirt floor. With such isolation any major injury or snake bite would have meant certain death. Our pioneers were certainly brave souls.
