  • Anthony Yarde and Tunde Ajayi are two of the most divisive characters in boxing; nothing they do creates debate more than their training methods. #TrainingDay goes behind the scenes in the gym to see exactly what they're doing to prepare for Sergey Kovalev and why they do it...
    Training Day is a boxing mini-series that focuses on how a boxer trains for an upcoming fight, going behind the scenes inside their camp to show the mental and physical struggles fighters go through.

      People who make comments like that do not know what they are talking about. Andre Ward was right, he has been fighting C grade fighters and is now jumping in with an A- fighter. He probably should have worked his way up. He should have fought better fighters to prepare himself for when he faces one near the top. Kovalev looked pretty good in his last fight. Yarde and his trainer seems to think there will be no pressure going to Russia, they are wrong. We will see what happens, I believe Kovalev will win by stoppage.

    In Muay Thai the sparring is mostly light and controlled and it's called technical sparring. The wear and tear of a fighter in training camps is real. I will be very interested in the outcome of this fight because Yarde camp is taking an unconventional approach with no sparring which is unheard of in boxing.

      Yeah but has Yarde ever shown he can take punishment as well as dish it out? He's never even been with with another well ranked contender or former champion who has tested his chin and landed some big shots. Every fighter should have at least one fight against a live world level opponent before their first title shot to prove to they're ready. Yarde may be packing glass.

    Yarde does want this belt, and its just a case of him knowing what to do on the night and quickly assessing what Kovalev will do in the early rounds, and whether Yarde has the experience to defend from any of Kovalev deadly combination punches correctly from round 1 onward. As soon as he works that out, he can then demonstrate his superior punch power on Kovalev body. Yarde will need to be very observant in the early rounds and then dominate once he has understood the skills of Kovalev.

    • @KasaiFilms8
      @KasaiFilms8 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well.....Yarde is still good, he just made too many fundamental mistakes...while Kovalev corrected all of his prior mistakes - Changing levels, changing angles, veteran moves to make the opponent lose strength and energy, and much more higher punch output and variety. Kovalev won this hands down!

    I like the fact Yarde has shaved off a little of that muscle. He's looking slimmer in his face and noticeably tighter round his waist. All that muscle is impressive, but it drains alot of blood and saps too much oxygen. Yarde appears to be training for distance and not a sprint. That being said, he still looks strong, thick with broad shoulders/back and a girthy chest (all the punching muscles). He still probably carries enough power to cause Kovalev a problem. Good luck Yarde...

    I see Yarde giving SK a battle. I think it'll come down to who's spirit breaks first. But with all this yelling about "lions" I don't see Yarde's spirit breaking easily. Even if he's down and out, he'll pick himself back up as many times as he needs to and keep fighting. Win or lose, if Yarde puts up a good fight, I still see his stock rising.

    I’m not sure if he’s perfected the philly shell to level that can keep him out of trouble. I just he’s proactive when it comes to body shots. Because Andre ward who IS the best pound for pound struggles in the 1st fight.

    No sparing partners tho...
    So yarde is always on top never challenged.
    Impressive fighter no doubt.
    But when it gets hot in ring my guy aint gonna like it over cocky confident trainer thinks his fighter cant lose dangerous for Yarde. Hope im wrong.

      Hey Bro, what if fight preparation sparring was overrated all this time; or even worse what if its actually counterproductive to fight preparation? Honestly, I have seen dudes get washed in sparring. I wonder what that does to a fighters psyche. I wonder if fighters get complacent with thier sparring partners tendencies in camp. I am just trying to be open-minded
