- And literally right after we recorded this the mod updated and fixed a lot of the jankiness that we had to deal with in our recording session. Hope you enjoyed our tale of survival and success, and of intense warfare waged against the Canadian wildlife.

I disagree, the highest caliber of canadian weapon is around 30-40mm, which is the diameter of the widest maple syrup bottles.
Edit: Right, and this is an inaccurate game. While the wolf attacks and snow drifts were realistic, I didn't see them get attacked by a single flock of rabid flesh eating geese.

I live in Washington and they’ve gone down here and literally EXTINCTED our balance in wildlife.
We can literally brawl with mountain lions but when a goose comes by? You better have a gun or else you’re a goner.

@@ricecooker7037 Also I agree. As a Canadian, I have challenged and subsequently fought a Moose to a standstill, but our fight was broken up by geese who defeated both of us.

So I'm a massive hiking fan. Gone to the Rockies multiple times now, Adirondacks whenever possible, Gatineau Park (lived in Ottawa as a teen) every weekend when I lived there.
I have come into close contact with 3 bears. The only one I and family have ever fought? American.
Black Bear, Feldspar Brook, bottom of Mt Marcy, New York. Can show photo evidence, but basically the other person camping in the area was a single of ~20 years old, who made the mistake of cooking breakfast at dawn. Black bear comes, sees a nice meal, tries to have all her food. We do the typical thing: yell, make yourself look big and threatening. Didn't work and after a while the bear starts approaching. My father goes up close to it, tries to shove it with his boot, bear just gets annoyed and paws at him (gashes his leg, he had to go to the hospital later). I ended up guarding him and the other single when they were packing up their tents and ended up throwing a rock at the local riverbed, kind of close to the bear Bear hears it (never saw it), snaps its head around and runs off in that direction.
Was everyone okay?
@@FlyingNova223 at the end of it yeah, my dad has a few stitches in his leg now, but no one else was harmed from that incident.
That is why you always have to be packin in areas with a bear, throw 9mm out the window, you better be packin .45 and above
Now wild hogs on the other hand, their skin is so thick you either need a high caliber revolver, or .223/5.56 and above. They have very thick skin. I’ve seen one eat a 7.62x51 or 30-06(can’t remember which)and walk it off for the next 20 minutes before it got hit with another shot and dropped
@@sgtirish5915 Wild Hogs are tanky mofos, seen them tank over 5 7.62 to the chest and still run towards the person.

I hope you do more The Long Dark, this was fun to watch.
The game takes place inside a remote island on the west cost of Canada if I remember correctly, it was already being abandoned before the whole electricity went off, the animals became aggressive, planes stopped working mid flight, criminals that resided inside a prison became free to do whatever they wanted. After that you have to survive gathering everything needed in the middle of winter, there is no one to help you, if your character gets stuck without fuel in the middle of a blizzard you die or you get extremely sick.

7 Days: I'm just gonna put four hundred pounds of wood into the campfire, and that's gonna burn foooorrrr... Looks like 1400 minutes.

Pro tip, if you crouch down a ledge you can avoid fall damage so long as you dont stand untill you're on even ground, you can also crouch down sheer cliff faces, TLD vets call it billy goating, or goating

Rimmy, while I’m certain the adrenaline would indeed make you not sleepy, I’m also pretty sure your character had suffered a not-insignificant amount of blood loss from the damage they took fighting the wolf off, and THAT would make them sleepy after the adrenaline wore off.
Though I’m not certain, as I’ve never suffered moderate to severe blood loss.
As a Canadian, I can confirm I just trudged through a 5 foot snowbank and got mauled by wolves on my way home from school.

Just Cause 2 multiplayer was indeed a great and quite early example of a multiplayer mod, but I want to mention San Andreas Multiplayer. That consumed a whole summer and then some for me, the sheer staggering variety of servers was something to behold back then
if it's community multiplayer mods, Sekiro's multiplayer mod is definitely a great way to have what could be experimentally simulated as "fun."

Oh, this finally exists? Thank christ, I love Long Dark and always hoped I could play it with my friends, but the devs were hellbent on not giving us multiplayer and the community collectively laughed at anyone who asked for a mod. What a great day!
I've been playing The Long Dark off and on for years now as new releases come out. It's so cool to see people new to the game exploring and getting excited!
Part of me hopes the devs see this mod and maybe give it some offical support, if a jankish mod is able to make the game this much more fun imagine proper multiplayer
Developers always intended the Game to be a Singleplayer Experience. Modding Support only recently became availible. Honestly, it is a very fun game just on your own, the paranoia and fear can get to you.

Geez the animals were straight up organized into a militia hellbent on taking down those 3 random Canadian guys.
The fact that you have to exit the sights to chamber another round maddens me. The Lee Enfield’s greatest feature is the type of bolt it has, which allows the user to chamber another round whilst still keeping sights.

Hey Rimmy, this is awesome. Keep it up. I also would really like to see more of The Long Dark specifically, as I have been a huge fan of the game. All in all it is pretty fun to watch.
Be careful though, I'm pretty sure handheld flares don't make bears flee in the game, I believe they merely prevent it from charging unless you enter a certain radius around the bear.

Ah yes the Canadian winter. As a Canadian I can confirm that there is no power here and that the wolves eyes do glow during an Aurora. Yesterday I almost froze to death after falling off my dog sled while going to the local Timmy's (Tim Horton's), that a nice family of black bears own. They aren't that bad once you get to know them. Sometimes I even get a French vanilla for free there.
