This one is definitely a banger haha. Also, as stated in the video I'm playing in San Jose for my first solo concert in the USA on Sunday November 6 at Valley Christian High School's Conservatory of the Arts! I'm so excited to present a solo program by myself for the first time in a while :)) #TheStudioFamily
I love the Blue Devils' Use of that Xylophone. Watching the show as a whole, the writing is so damn good, and it fits in amazing, especially with how well it was played. Truly incredible talent.
Man, I'll always regret not being able to participate in DCI. I was such a pit fanatic but I could never afford the like $5000 or whatever it cost for the summer to participate. Having that in your college years is so difficult, when you don't have a family that can just spare that much money. Now I'm 25 and living in Japan, and I can only look on with envy lol.
Adam, that spinny thing that you said looked like a car wheel is actually an upside down roto tom frame. If you mount it on a cymbal stand, you get that scraping sound.
@@AdamTanPercussion I marched in 1984....shows were VERY different back then! You should check out some of the older stuff....no headcams, tho, and the pits sometimes got no love at all. I'd be happy to help you if you wanted to do MY show!
Adams asks about how they have the stamina for these runs but you gotta remember that stamina in these ensembles doesn't exist because of how much they practice. They legit practice for 2 months straight for DCI championships. Of constant wakeup practice eat sleep repeat.
Hearing protection is a must in Front ensemble BTW, Especially drum corps, you have 100 brass players right behind you playing as loud as possible, the occupational noise is a real hazard, I played timpani right by the gong and bass, the guy next to me the year previously lost all hearing in his left ear because he was next to the gong and bass, you better believe I wore some musician earplugs every rep! Seriously if you love music keep your ears working well, wear earplugs!
The Bluecoats show was just insanely great. I saw it several times over the summer, and finals week. worth finding a video, and watching it a few times to get it.
Go Bloo!!!!!! They have my favorite pit writing. All those textures, they even use motors on their vibes, which is unusual in marching groups! Bluecoats has a lot of cool stuff going on I don't know if you know, but a lot of people aren't too keen on the Blue Devils' show concepts recently, but personally, I'm really always impressed by the members.
Honestly the irrational trolls and haters with no sense of rhythm were the only ones who "wasn't too keen" on the Blue Devils. Everybody in the world, particularly in Japan, and in the audience at stadiums all summer (we were there in person) went berserk over their summer croon jam Moon River, Silk Sonic, and of course Tank!
This simply isn't true. Blue Devils has the biggest fan AND alumni base (they started out as a junior drum and bell corps 65 years ago), three corps in its organization, the most experienced members, the most consistent staff, and travels the most distance of any corps to get to shows they compete at. Online, their videos regularly get >1M+ views. They've won gold 3 out of the last 4 competitive seasons, this past one being their twentieth win. It just seems like when one is successful and has found a winning formula to win consistently, and we can't find any dirt or skeletons in the closet, we start latching on to any little thing to bring them down and minimize their success (speaking in general, not directly at you).
I sincerely ask you to react to Boston Crusaders 2022 show “paradise lost”, I’m sure you’ll be impressed by the drum lines superb playing, but whatever you do, don’t watch the finals run

it was such an honor playing next to chris all summer :D
YO you were awesome on the set this season!! Congrats on another BD win 😎
Pit book was crazy this year, you guys killed it!
One of the best if not THE best bd kit player of all time. Ur actually insane job
Cowboy Bebop is the DCI jam of the summer. Congrats on your 20th ring Blue Devils!

Hey but you're living in Japan tho that's pretty awesome
Adam, that spinny thing that you said looked like a car wheel is actually an upside down roto tom frame. If you mount it on a cymbal stand, you get that scraping sound.
That's genius why didn't I think of mounting a rotoooo
best use for a roto
"It must feel incredible to be a part of this."
Speaking AS a BD alum....yes....yes it does!
You've done incredible :)

Just too hard working
pretty nice watching this show in the audience
Blue Devils: A winning #DCI2022 corps. overall, general effect, visual, and brass, and a GOATed front ensemble. What not to like?!
Hearing protection is a must in Front ensemble BTW, Especially drum corps, you have 100 brass players right behind you playing as loud as possible, the occupational noise is a real hazard, I played timpani right by the gong and bass, the guy next to me the year previously lost all hearing in his left ear because he was next to the gong and bass, you better believe I wore some musician earplugs every rep! btw would have killed for that solo he got HOOLLYY
Can't second wearing earplugs enough!!
Watching this now I see why they won percussion this year.
I just realized at 4:20 they’re playing a song called Taizo by Forq. It’s a pretty unknown song so I kinda freaked out when I heard it here
You should watch the front ensemble of the bluecoats. Bluecoats won the Sanford percussion award this year so highly recommend reacting to them.
Hahaha did you comment before watching the vid 💀
@@calebcameron4021 yes yes I did...... remind me to not-
I love the mention of Rhythmic Force. They have been my favorite for the past 2 years and that was before I knew anything about marimba one.
I saw the bloopit finals lot it was seriously life changing!
I saw cowboy bebop in the thumbnail and have never clicked faster
The Bluecoats show was just insanely great. I saw it several times over the summer, and finals week. worth finding a video, and watching it a few times to get it.
“No one man can have too many cymbals” as proven by any front ensemble member.
That “wheel thing “is a roto Tom part .it gives a great bell sound .especially if you put a cymbal on it to make a great splash /china sound.
I watched this show live in Ut

They certainly know how to play yeees ahaha

@@FBarnacle I'm just pointing out what I see :(
@@jakqer I'm just saying what I experienced
Roto-Tom Frame (the tuning wheel)
Oh
I sincerely ask you to react to Boston Crusaders 2022 show “paradise lost”, I’m sure you’ll be impressed by the drum lines superb playing, but whatever you do, don’t watch the finals run
Madison Scouts played Cowboy Bebop (Tank) back in 1998 So, the connection been there for that song to get licensed.
Oh, and COLTS did the piece DRAGON BOY from Spirited Away! and it was great! TWO anime in DCI this year!
Just so u know we do actually go deaf. We try to wear earplugs during practice but we dont during lots and performances.
Ahhhh that sucks :( I wish they'd let you wear invisible musician's earplugs!
*sniff sniff* yeah. I smell smoke
go chris! :D
Pretty sure the wheel thing is the bottom half of a roto-tom
Is THEE adam tan percussion into tricking? Ive never seen anyone call out that btwist in the bd opener
People usually do wear earplugs in these ensembles
In listening to Adam's comments about Bluecoats, shows context matters. He has to watch the entire show to see how intense it is.
Your concert is on my birthday! Im so far tho literally the farthest state from me
That thing he said it looks like a car wheel it a frame from a roto Tom.
Dang he didn’t get to experience the keytar solo 😭😭😭
Fr Fr
Please react to bostons show, just front ensemble or the full show idc, it’s amazing man
What if I told you that Blue Devils plan to play anime and kpop this year, 2023 👀
I think that wheel is a roto Tom shell
Adam for context here’s a great Bluecoats FE focused full run.

What is cowboy bebop
an anime
A masterpiece
Watch Vanguards xylo cam. It's better! No disrespect to this guy tho. He's still a monster!
Frank is a legend
For all the battery lovers out there Adam: BOSTON 22 packed some flames this season….
