  • Turn a PDF into a CAD file in AutoDesk AutoCad 2020. This is useful if you need a cad file for a project but only have PDFs to work with. After converting you may need to scale the drawing to match the dimensions. This video shows you how to scale the drawing after you import it.

Very useful, thankyou. I have been dropped into using AutoCAD by my employer, with no training to speak of. I am finding it onerous to the point of hurling my laptop through the window, with idiot customers complaining I am taking too long to complete their specified requests due to my lackl of AutoCAD expertise . I hate AutoCAD with a vengeance, but it is a fact of my life, so your video has helped me get just a bit closer to being able to use it productively. Your instructions were excellent.

Excellent instructions! I had to manually scale my drawing as you described in your video. The only thing I would add is to that you also might want to change the DIMSCALE factor so that the dims match the new size of the drawing.

Thanks. I learned about the scale factor today. I will love if the software recognize the layers instead of manually input it one by one in the exported pdf.

Will AutoCAD LT software work for this application? Or do I need to buy the more expensive AutoCAD? If I'm solely using Autocad to convert files and not do 3D models, LT will work correct?

Good Video! Do you have the way to import multi page PDF to DWG?

nice video, thanks. Does that means raster image can not be imported as cad file? Is that what it means?

Correct, if your PDF has been scanned on a printer, which basically means its just a picture, then AutoCAD won't be able to recognize the lines. The file must be the original electronic file which has information embedded in it that AutoCAD can use.

Sometimes it is the PDF that makes it go slow. I have had PDFs that convert in a few seconds and PDFs that take a few minutes. Has to do with the number of lines in the PDF.
