After winter, were there full time. Then it's ON! 🙌😁
On the washing machine that is another filter and if clogged can leak. FYI I went back to top loading machines because the front load ones don't clean as well IMO and they get smelly if you don't let them air out when not in use. So make sure to prop that door open when you are not running it!
Open the trap door and put a shallow pan under it and open the trap. Make sure the machine is not running. Mine has a round thing that you unscrew. Drain it and make sure there is nothing clogging it. It is a normal maintenance on my washer. Also, go to Action for household cleaning supplies and other things you might need. Usually in France you can bring back to the store the items that don't match if they are still in perfect condition (don't wait for months to do so however !). Go to the store with the items, the opened packet and the store receipt. Usually they are willing to reiburse you or give you a credit for the amount on the store. By the way both your washing and drying machines are from most reputable brands and should work well if installed correctly and treated appropriatly...

So sorry to hear about the poor bird. You might want to read over what your municipality can accept in the cities garbage pickup bins. Hi my husband and I are subscribers. We have a washer similar to yours . The little door on the front if you open it with the top tab you should see a drain plug . Open it with a bucket ready . Allow all the water to empty , dirt and all . This should be done once every quarter or so . Make sure the drain plug is back in and locked with the plug back up to seal it . Hope this helps!!!
@@LetsBuyAChateaualso, since you have so many plate covers that you want to switch out, use a sharpie to mark the backs of the old ones so you remember which room they came from.
@@LetsBuyAChateau Another store might have a better selection. Do you know how old the switches are? If they are 10-15-20 years old, they might not have as many in production. You might have to put in new switches. Possibly ask the store clerks how common those types of plates are and/or if you can order them? Just a thought.
The little door at the bottom of the washing machine is a thing that you open to clean out any debris build up. When the machine is not being used, get a tray or something shallow that can catch the water. Use the end of a spoon or something similar to open the door. There will then be a screw open device. Open slowly because water will come out. Then you may need to clean the filter. It’s possible that they didn’t close it well enough? However, if it’s leaking then something isn’t right but it looks fairly new so may just be a pipe that is leaking. You should be able to download a manual for most things like this.
The leak may be caused by the pump filter (accessible from door at bottom) being partially blocked, there is normally a plug that needs to be unscrewed to clean it. N.B Water will come out if you remove plug to clear, about one litre of water. Tip leave the washing m/c door and filler open after use to dry out and this will stop any mould.
@ Little jerks! 😂 We were screaming one night about a black spider with green eyes in our bedroom. Our father ran in and said, “You little monkeys better not scream again unless it’s a rattlesnake!” 😂
The message on the bottom of the washing machines translates as, “Please clean the filter regularly. A bad filter maintenance may be the cause of a higher sound level and that the machine is malfunctioning”. It looks like you did purchase a working/functioning washing machine, this problem seems to be more of a maintenance problem. Just do a google search for the owner's manual, in French or English and it will show you how to perform the machines maintenance requirements (just like the machine you would have been using back in the states). Easy peezy.
that is your filter needs to be emptied out but put an old towel down because it will run with a bit of water then empty the filter and put it back. then it should not leak.
The bottom of the washer has a filter that needs cleaned aprox every three months and you should leave front door open after using until it's dry so you won't get mold.. clean the washer on clean setting every month as well.
The washing machine leaking is not that bad , the area you were referring to is the lower drain area , you can check that for tightening perhaps slightly lose , but only check once it’s had its final spin and it’s OFF!
We plan to move there full time in June. Until then, we're taking occasional trips back and forth to get things ready! I apologize, I should have explained that in this video as well. Thank you!
And excuse me, I’m nearly 60 and I wouldn’t have slept in a room like that! Am being humorous btw. Not offended enough to be cross because I am accused of being an old fashioned grumpy old g.t by my daughter. There’s a limit though. Also make sure you retain copies of every utility bill etc that you pay. French bureaucracy is sometimes a bit glitchy. My husband removes dead birds once the wildlife have had more dinner. Easier to remove less. Washing up gloves and bin bag and the local bins in the village will be fine (the usual larger rubbish collection areas). There’s usually some everywhere. General rubbish, recycling bins etc. If you look up ‘Oui in France’ she explains nicely about driving in France, including the ‘priorité à droite’. Not just about driving but explains about living in France and the differences.
Ha! I'm glad you agree on the room 😂. Oh gosh yes, I have been saving everything! I'm so worried sick about not having a copy of something.... I just ordered myself a new accordion file to store them all in. And backing them up in my Google Drive 🤣
You need to clean out the bottom fuss filter almost after every wash. Its really dangerous if they are full and yes they cause leeking. Same with the dryer. You empty the water container, the fuss collector inside the door and the bottom fuss collector. If not clean the machines can get in fire or leak. Leave the doors open when you fly back to the USA. Why are those plates so important to change? I think there are other things that are more urgent. Those plates on the wall are older and probably not compatible with your new ones.
I did learn about the dryer and have been emptying that each time. Very different, but I suppose it'll become habit. The plates weren't a big deal... I mostly wanted to change the gross skin oil stained one. Grossed me out. So I thought it'd be easy to grab a few extra. Honestly... I wanted a simple task I could say, "I accomplished that". Gah. And I didn't 🤷♀️.
Hi there, the puddle can be because the filtre on the bottom (This thing) is blocked, you open it and inside there is a tube with a stopper on it. You take a bowl and drain the inside by removing the stopper on the tube. Then when no more water comes out you can open the tab just above it, in there can be little stuff, its good to clean from time to time. But the water puddle is probably because of the top part where you put the soap. Its overflowing because its not clean, or you put the wrong product or too much product. Therefore it is rusting there.
Girl, you gotta learn to drive and park. Take some lessons, it will give you the confidence to get out there. Find a few charity shops, you can get good household items for a good price. That would also make interesting content for your videos. Everyone loves shopping!❤ Good luck 🍀 ❤
Gahhhh! I know. What makes it even more nerve wracking is I'm in a rental car. You know how they scare you that they'll take you for everything you have if you return the car with the smallest scratch! So honestly, a car I don't know, I'm scared to be in charge of in the first place.....makes it even more scary for me lol. Back in the US my minivan is rarely getting parallel parked! But you are absolutely right, I'll probably get some lessons in France. I just want to be a good driver and stay so far out of any trouble 🙃.
🍎 Fabulous, sunny, blue skies day in our part of the world! About evicting your friendly bugs! Unfortunately you can't evict bugs in France, because there are too many rivers and streams around. #2. 99.9% of people plant roses and shrubs against the building of the house and when it rains, because most people don't use gutters for the water to go elsewhere, it creates moisture against the house and no one loves moisture more than bugs and rodents and geckos. Most of all there are no window screens on the houses in France, so as long as you live in France, they are going to be your best friend inside your house and outside your house! As we said your new house is nice, it needs a lot of work and because it's so old, you always need to save because every year it's going to be something new you have to fix. We definitely don't like the fenced in walls of the courtyard, as it makes the house looks as if though it's a jail or a hospital or a facility of some kind. It makes the courtyard look a little too quiet and unfriendly. Don't want to say depressing, but we must because I can see adults getting used to the secluded walls, but there is no way teenagers are going to feel happy about secluded walls. We must give it to you bluntly for the sake of your kids. We have lived on five acre properties three times in the last 20 years and the last property we decided to sell as my daughter was getting in her teens and I was getting tired of the seclusion. So as time goes on when the kids come back, you must keep asking them questions here and there every year and watch that they're not getting depressed. Since you know it's a secluded property, then you will know why they're not so happy. As I can tell a little with the one or two videos, but can't seem to figure out the answer for the secluded fence walls. Hope it doesn't make you depressed either since no one can see the beauty of the courtyard, only if they're invited in. We love big properties too, but it has to show for others to enjoy as well, or else what's the point if no one can appreciate the beauty just the owners. Bye for now, Ciao!🌴
I have heard on other "renovators in France" channels paint is expensive there. If you plan to visit England you could buy paint there. And return by ferry or Eurostar so you don't have luggage restrictions.
I should have! Crazy thing is, I remember being at the store and not seeing different sizes of anything. And they were each in packaging so it would have been hard to tell anyway... I think I need a totally different store to visit next.
If you can’t parallel park you shouldn’t be driving. Also, moving to France you should anticipate that it isn’t going to be the same as the USA on many levels including the price you pay in Reno stores and you pay for garbage in your taxe d’habitation regardless of having a can or not.
Oh yes I've paid a garbage bill already 😊. Parallel parking in a place I'm not comfortable with yet and in a rented car that is not what I'm used to driving... Yeah, I'm definitely taking things slow! If I can park safely and take a nice walk... Where's the harm in that???

When the machine is not being used, get a tray or something shallow that can catch the water. Use the end of a spoon or something similar to open the door. There will then be a screw open device. Open slowly because water will come out. Then you may need to clean the filter. It’s possible that they didn’t close it well enough? However, if it’s leaking then something isn’t right but it looks fairly new so may just be a pipe that is leaking. You should be able to download a manual for most things like this.
Thank you!! Saving this screenshot of your comment so I do it right 👍
It hasn’t been raining here in Marseille. We could do with some rain 🌴 🌳 🌧 Maybe it was a piece of marble or stone behind the sink
Ah, well that's good! And that's a good idea about marble... I definitely want to pretty it up!
Best wishes
Thank you!! 😊
I will check that plug for sure. Laundry got more complicated, ha... Fun! But good to know! I'll check that out. Thank you!
Hilarious that your shopping list had a stepladder for the spiders. That would have been top of my list as well. Top of list! 😂
Haha! I have to get all those little jerks out. I know it's going to be ongoing... Ha!
@ Little jerks! 😂 We were screaming one night about a black spider with green eyes in our bedroom. Our father ran in and said, “You little monkeys better not scream again unless it’s a rattlesnake!” 😂
Glad you got your phonecard❤
I was shocked how easy it was! In and out in ten minutes.
The message on the bottom of the washing machines translates
as, “Please clean the filter regularly. A bad filter maintenance
may be the cause of a higher sound level and that the
machine is malfunctioning”.
It looks like you did purchase a working/functioning washing
machine, this problem seems to be more of a maintenance
problem. Just do a google search for the owner's manual, in
French or English and it will show you how to perform the
machines maintenance requirements (just like the machine you would
have been using back in the states). Easy peezy.
I definitely will be checking that out! A lot to get used to 🙂. Just making laundry more fun, right?. Haha.
that is your filter needs to be emptied out but put an old towel down because it will run with a bit of water then empty the filter and put it back. then it should not leak.
Good to know! Thank you! Oh fun 🙃. Good tip about having a towel there too. Thank you!
Take the old switch plates with you when you go to buy .Or just clean up the old ones.
Someone else just said that! Genius!
Best of luck!
Thank you 😊
Baby steps, we all started with them, so it will be easy to remember….your doing dreatn❤
Awwwhhh. Yes, baby steps indeed. Thank you!! 😊
The bottom of the washer has a filter that needs cleaned aprox every three months and you should leave front door open after using until it's dry so you won't get mold.. clean the washer on clean setting every month as well.
Oh a clean setting? Gosh, okay! Lots to learn. Laundry just got more fun 😂. I'll be sure to check that filter! I didn't know about that. Thank you!
Looking good. Reckon a cat got a decent meal from your pigeon. What are you planning to work at when you make the move?
I think the cat must have! I'll have to keep an eye out for it. 😻
The washing machine leaking is not that bad , the area you were referring to is the lower drain area , you can check that for tightening perhaps slightly lose , but only check once it’s had its final spin and it’s OFF!
Ahhh yes. Good info! I will do that! I've only had top load so I was afraid to mess with anything.
You may have explained already but I'd like to ask when is the family joining you in a permanent move?
We plan to move there full time in June. Until then, we're taking occasional trips back and forth to get things ready! I apologize, I should have explained that in this video as well. Thank you!
@@LetsBuyAChateau No need to apologize. I was just being nosey. lol
Great Video. Hello from British Columbia.
Hello there! Thank you. I appreciate that! 😊
There's another filter at the bottom of mashine at the front which need cleaning out
Guess I'll have to take care of that as well! Laundry got so much more complicated 🤣. First world problems.... I'll take care of it!! Thank you!
Spray paint the older outlet covers. Make sure you clean them up before you start though.
Oh, that's a great idea!!! Gosh. I didn't think of that. Good call 🙂
Oh my gosh, thank you so much! I'm actually going to screenshot your comment so that I know I'm doing it correctly, step by step.
Why didn’t you take a sample to hardware store take the old ones in save you time and money?
Because I didn't know it'd be that complicated 🫤.
Oh boy. I don’t see how you’re gonna make it there. Remember Google and TH-cam are your best friends for diy.
Oh I think we'll survive 😊. Celebrate the big wins and don't stress about the small things 🤪
@ Don’t sweat the small stuff. You’re stronger than you think.
@@andil6784 YES :)
Keep the old covers and just buy a can of paint to get the colour you want
That is a genius idea!!
Bye for now,
Ciao!🌴
Thanks for your insight!
Your doing good....!!!
Thank you!! Progress 😃
3 weeks…..and we are there!
Apparently diy and building supplies are expensive
We are taking paint and everything!!
AHhhhhh, yay! How are you feeling?
@@LetsBuyAChateau rollercoaster of emotions!!
I’d like to teleport forward!
Oh gosh, I bet! I'm so excited for you! Send me your instagram name again, if you don't mind. I'd love to follow you!
I have heard on other "renovators in France" channels paint is expensive there.
If you plan to visit England you could buy paint there. And return by ferry or Eurostar so you don't have luggage restrictions.
Your should've taken all of the original wall outlet and
switch covers with you and compare them to new ones🥴🥴🥴🤯🤯🤯
I should have! Crazy thing is, I remember being at the store and not seeing different sizes of anything. And they were each in packaging so it would have been hard to tell anyway... I think I need a totally different store to visit next.
Bonjour ,allez faire un tour chez ACTION c'est beaucoup moins chère
Ooooh yes. I went there! It was amazing! I'll keep going 🙂
Paint the covers and return the ones you bought
I think I will do that!! ☺️
Spiders are bad everywhere 😅this year
Argh! 😤
Il fallait aller au magasin avec les vieux 😅😅😅
Awwh!
Spray paint the electric switches
Someone else just said that. Gah, genius!!
Take the old plate things to the brico and ask for new replacements? This is my last comment. I’m getting too annoying, even for me!
Ha! No worries - you're just fine 🙂. I'll always take advice!
