Lexie and Mark's ending and Christina's ending are the only one's I can truly accept. Lexie and Mark's ending was sad but it made sense for both of them to die because they had to end up together and could not end up with other people and Christina left to do what she loves. This was the worst possible ending for Alex. The worst Grey's has done since firing Jessica and Sarah.

He divorced the woman he LOVES in a LETTER??!! They had so many options for him leaving. He could’ve left because his mom started showing schizophrenic symptoms again, and he has to be with her. He himself could’ve became schizophrenic, leading Jo to the hard decision of admitting him to a psychiatric facility. He could’ve died on the way to his mothers for God’s sake! I loved Izzex when it started but SHE left HIM, he wouldn’t do the same to Jo, no matter the kids. After everything Jo has been through?? How could he do that to her. He spent 4 seasons getting over Izzy, she left him broken, he spent all his time sleeping around till he met Jo and fell in love again, she fixed him. This isn’t right.

This was the absolute WORST way to end Alex Karev. How could you do this to his legacy!!??! We love Alex and who he has become. This ending was absurd, you should have just killed him off. He would have NEVER left Jo like this, or Meredith. You guys BLEW IT! I’ll just try to remember Karev for everything he was before you slaughtered his character.

They took Alex’s entire character arc and reset it. He would have NEVER left Joe like that. He loved her. What he had with Izzy has been over for years. It would have been better to just kill him off instead. Alex has been my favorite for years and they did him so dirty.

It sucks that they turned one of the most loved characters on tv into an asshole in one episode. He had the best character development I’ve ever seen and now his legacy is forever ruined from this. I don’t think I’ve ever met a grey’s anatomy fan that would have something negative to say about Alex’s character, but they managed to change that in a day.

I remember when Derek was killed everyone was complaining at Shonda for killing him off; saying that they should’ve found another way to exit him from the show for the potential to come back. But Shonda knew that it was out of his character to just leave with no explanation and the only logical explanation for his exit was to die. And everyone was soo pissed lol.

They were amazing and better than they had ever been. They literally got legally married like 5 episodes before and they were so happy. Its just sloppy writing from the writers I wish he just disappeared and nobody had found him so that he is still gone but not the heartbreak of purposely breaking everyone’s hearts and still giving him a chance to come back to the show in later seasons

There wasn’t much the writers could do. Justin Chambers left without any notice. They couldn’t just kill him because after all the other characters that died (Lexie, Mark, George, Ellis, Thatcher, Derek, and meredith’s step mother) it would not make sense. They had to write out Alex in a way that would be serious enough for him to leave.
Alex went out on a great note; the love of his life and a life with his children to grow up with what he never had as a child. Hate that he’s gone but I love that they wrote him back with Izzy
So this man finally marries Jo. Is the happiest he has ever been and then leaves her after one phone call with his emotionally abusive ex who left him with no explanation. All because she decided she still has the right to have his children without his permission and without informing him. You can still be a parent without leaving your wife.
He gave her the right to have the children. In the episode where he said that he & jo should get a dog, he signed papers saying the Izzie could have & do what she choose to do with their frozen embryos. Jo was upset because Alex and Izzie had made plans for kids and all he asked her was if they should get a dog.
Exactly tho so you don’t care say she can do whatever then up and leave when you find out she did use them. I get Justin left suddenly and they had to think of something but damn you couldn’t come up with something better than that. It is so disappointing to end that way.
I don't think Grey's anatomy cares about how they make their characters look once the actors playing them leave (which eventually happens because this show seems to be never ending). They don't care about giving a proper closure to the characters, which is unfair both to the characters and the fans watching. So I'm glad I quit watching it with season 10. Until then, I loved it.
TrintsuKiishu2 the timeline of the show is different then the year between seasons keep that mind so many season make up a year in that show the first 3 seasons were actually the first year of internship, it’s not as hard to develop a character based on a crazy timeline Jump only for him to go back to her cause in the timeline he actually only went back to her after 5 almost 6 years not 10 years(they wrote 5 almost 6 years of character development that was spread out over 10 years , the length actress had been off the show for , but that doesn’t mean there was actually 10 years between the those two events in the story timeline.

I said it once and I’ll say it forever: grey’s should’ve ended at season 10 with cristina’s departure (or if they ended it then she wouldn’t have had to have left). the show fell apart without its central relationship (Meredith and Cristina) and Sandra Oh was the best actor on the show. Derek would’ve still been alive and April, Arizona, Callie, etc would’ve still all been there. The show used to be great- and now unfortunately will go down in history as the number one example of greed and not knowing when to leave the party. *sigh* this show will forever have a special place in my heart, but it needs to end. this episode was lazy and Alex would NEVER do this. the Alex from 10 years ago, maybe, but not now.
Totally agree. At worst, they should have ended the show with season 12/13 where Derek dies. Right now it's just a mess, the story lines are just dramatic for nothing, when a character is happy they have to add some drama (Amelia/Link). It's just annoying to watch now.
I don’t think it should’ve ended at season 10 personally. I thought (sad as it was) that they wrote Cristina out well enough for the show to go on, which it did up until now. Shonda had a way of being able to write off even the very main characters and still make the show work. Krista Vernoff is a shit writer compared to Shonda Rhimes. She’s just fucked up the whole damn show. If it was Shonda, she would’ve just made Alex die somehow, not make this whole infuriating, heartbreaking plot line that makes no sense to Alex’s character whatsoever.

Well... guess meanwhile you marry the girl, get a new house with her, and a few years later you just go back to a previous relationship that was a mess and like... many lives ago. It makes sense... I just want to pretend this bs didn't happen. There's no fairytales in real life. We can't expect it on GA either now!! Izzy and Burke left out of blue and still had a return for a better farewell... Yang, Torres, Arizona, April Addison, Stephanie, Ross, Nathan, Murphy, Sam... had a good reason to leave the hospital or Seattle. All others died and that sucked any way. But Karev? With all his grow from the "devil spawn" era, just disappears after helping Meredith and just send lame letters with bad excuses? No matter if he "has kids" or if they didn't like the actor Justin for any reason, you don't end a story like this. No sense, just unnecessary drama.

He doesnt really get to feel any sort of way when he walked out on them. He could have finished the season it would have allowed them the opportunity give him a proper send off but he wouldnt even return for his last episode. He just decided he was done.

Izzie broke him in so many ways, his family at the hospital helped pick those up. Alex, and Jo were so similar they were both broken in some way. The Alex I knew would NEVER do this. How could Shonda give him this ending. Alex loved Jo, they got through everything. In some way I kind of envied the love that they had in the show. Alex would have been the type of father to parent the twins, and love Jo. Alex not only broke his ( Ex ) wife's heart, but he broke the people who got him through the toughest times, and who he helped get through tragedies. Izzie once again breaking my heart, it's like Shonda wants to drive away viewers.
Lazy writing is all what it is now in Grey`s... I have known for a while that It has become a cheap soap-opera and that is all what I can expect from it... to be honest I am not sure to why I keep watching... but I guess I just want to see the end.
I had a feeling that they were going to do something like that, although I was hoping that they were going to do something that would have lasted until the end of the season, like he was missing and everyone went looking for him or he was developing schizophrenia or maybe they found his car and he had a stroke or a heart attack or something, anything. He stood by Jo, Meredith, Meredith kids, Webber and Maranda and wouldn't have done this. He married Jo and promised her that he wouldn't leave her and now he does for Izzy?! Yes, he loved her, but towards the end she wasn't nice to him and left him. Why would he give up everything including his wife?! Two questions: he didn't say how he found Izzy and when Jo found out about the embryos, wouldn't it have had the information that done were gone and that she used them, especially since it's been more than five years since that happened. The writing and storylines have been going downhill for a long time and it's now time for the show to end. I have to wonder, Justin left so abruptly and has been nice, polite, diplomatic, but a bit elusive about his reasons for leaving so abruptly, like not announcing that he was leaving at the end of the season (and what about his contract, wasn't the show picked up until 2021?) is really because of the storyline that they were thinking of doing and he realized that he both as Justin and Alex couldn't and wouldn't have done and tired to have some input and he was shot down and so he left, but how they did it... it's almost like writers undid the frat boy bully who became a loyal, supportive, loving, trustworthy doctor, surgeon and most importantly, the man he became. I'm angry now and am shaking my head angerly at the writers.

Like maybe Alex started already getting distant, maybe had Izzie write him a letter or something and talk to Meredith about it SOMETHING LEADING UP TO IT...this literally came out of nowhere! I remember the scene where Alex told Jo about Izzie and how he pictures her life which I thought was a nice sort of closure to their story, but this just fucks that entire scene up. Ugh I’d expect at the very least for them to at least honor and respect the last original intern besides Meredith on the show but they couldn’t even do that smh.
The worst part of all of this is I feel so bad for Jo, that is truly heartbreaking!! I even said to myself before this episode aired, there is no way in hell he would just leave her like that, he wouldn’t do that, but he did! I am so beyond pissed off at this ending, that’s crazy and ludicrous to have him return to Izzie, the same Izzie who abandoned him in the first place, and the fact that he is not pissed at her for having his children and not telling him about it, any rational human being would be angry about that, it’s his kids, he missed when they were born and the first five years of their lives because of her, this show seriously needs to end already, I’m getting so sick and tired of this horrible writing that makes no sense, I call BS on this!

Yeah tell me about it. I stopped watching it in season ten, and I suddenly read this and have a shock lol I used to love Izzie and Alex and even I think this is wrong, because he moved on and created a different life apart from her for years. What nonsense is this?
My reaction watching this: "are you f* kidding me?" Guess it's goodbye Grey's anatomy, it was a nice and painful ride and one last thing - ALEX KAREV WOULD NEVER.
They showed me how Alex fell in love with Jo, and how it had absolutely nothing to do with Izzie. He fell in love with Jo’s strength, her wit and her caring heart. They showed me him being himself with her, allowing himself to be silly and have fun, be it making animal noises or fake crying to get into hotel rooms. They showed me that the thought of never seeing Alex again upset Jo deeply when they were just friends to each other back then. They showed me him realizing that he loved her before he had even kissed her. That this time it wasn’t about sex or just attraction. That he fell in love with Jo because of Jo. They showed me her standing by his side through it all, even when he pushed her away because of his dad. They showed me how much she cared about him and how much he meant to her. They showed me that he imagined a future with her just a couple months into their relationship. That he wanted to be with her forever. They showed me that Alex and Jo overcame so many obstacles over the years and yet never gave up on each other. That even while they were broken up he didn’t want to date anyone else and she only hooked up with a random intern to forget about him, which she never could. They showed me that they both had struggled with love since their childhoods. That Alex felt like none of the girls understood his messy upbringing properly. That Jo felt like she was too messed up to be truly happy with someone. Until they found each other and it felt like finding home. They showed me that Alex made Jo love and trust again after escaping her abuser. That she could give a man her whole heart despite what had happened to her. They showed me that Alex was so important to Jo that she wanted to take his last name. That being a Karev was something she was proud of, despite what some people once would have said. They showed me that Alex loved Jo so much he never stopped fighting for her even when she was so depressed she pushed him away. They showed me that despite his fear of his loved ones “going crazy” he loved Jo so much that her depression didn’t scare him off. They showed me Jolex choosing each other over and over again over the years even when walking away from each other would have been easier. They showed me that Alex didn’t need to fear being abandoned anymore because the woman he fell in love with proved him over and over again that she would never leave him. And then they took it all away in a single episode. They spat on Jolex’s beautiful love story. And they made it look so easy. As if those 8 years meant nothing. As if everything I watched over these years was a lie. And it still hurts. I don’t know when it will stop. But I know one thing for sure and that is that Jo is the love of Alex’s life. I’m not going to let one episode of shitty writing take that away from me because the writers thought it would be meaningful to give two original characters an ending together, no matter how little sense it makes. grey's anatomy alex karev jo wilson jolex jo karev alex x jojo x alex 130 notes Mar 25th, 2020 MORE YOU MIGHT LIKE How am I supposed to accept that two characters who were as compatible as Alex and Jo will end up with other people now? When I looked at Jolex, I genuinely thought “these two will still have the same loving and bantering relationship when they’re 80 and surrounded by their children and grandchildren.” There are fictional couples you like for a certain time because they’re exciting but you know deep down their relationship would never last in the long run. With Jolex, I thought they would because they felt like soulmates who understood each other on a level nobody else did. They always knew each other’s fears and insecurities so well and tried their hardest to protect each other. It felt like there was nothing they wouldn’t do for one another. I can’t even imagine how her next love interest would be able to relate to Jo in ways Alex could. And no matter how picture-perfect the show tried to paint Alex’s ending, I don’t think he’s with his soulmate or one true love right now. If he learned one thing from meeting and falling in love with Jo, it should have been that he and Izzie weren’t meant to be. And the scene where he pictures this life for her told me Alex had realized exactly that. That he found the right person for himself and was finally in a place where he could wish the same happiness for Izzie without any ill feelings. In my opinion, that’s what that scene was supposed to show us and not him still pining for her. There were no indications for that whatsoever). But if Izzie and him were left unfinished, then what are he and Jo now? He never even had one last conversation with Jo. He never called her or gave her the opportunity to talk to him because he knew he wouldn’t be able to do what he did if he heard her voice or saw her face. He left her while still being deeply in love with her. If Alex and Izzie were unfinished, then Jo and Alex are now ten times more unfinished. Alex wasn’t in love with Izzie anymore while he was with Jo - it had been years since she left -, but now that he’s with Izzie again, he’s still in love with Jo. Something tells me even those kids won’t make him forget who he left behind. And I don’t think he’ll be able to get over Jo so easily. If the writers insist that something inside him always wondered what Izzie and him could’ve been, then I have no doubt he’ll always wonder from now on how his future with Jo would’ve looked like. And that’s why I find it hilarious to end Jo & Alex so abruptly by saying Izzie & Alex were left unfinished, because Izzie and Alex at least had one last talk. Jo and Alex never had that. Alex is currently hiding in Kansas from Jo and his love for her. I hate the fact that they when major characters like Derek, or Lexie or Sloan decided to leave the show, the producers/writers decided to kill them off, which I think was really the best way to get fans to accept their decisions. And then when it comes to ALEX who has been on the show since Day 1 they just give him the worst exit EVER!!! He would NEVER leave Jo or Meredith, at least not without saying a proper goodbye first. I don't think the writers/ producers planned this out very well!! Alex deserved a much better exit than the one they gave him!!

To be fair, Eric Dane had some say for the way his character ended. I don't think any of the other actors did. They probably wouldn't have killed off Lexie if they didn't want Meredith to feel it. Chyler Leigh left the show on good terms with Shonda Rhimes. I'm guessing they wanted to leave a door open for Justin Chambers to return, especially since he wasn't originally supposed to stay on the show (Alex was an added character). It might not be the ending folks were expecting, but it's the only one that makes sense if they didn't want (or could not) kill him off.

In less than 5 minutes they managed to destroy Alex’s whole character development, his relationship with Jo, the progress he’d done over 4 years to get over Izzy and Zola’s only important father figure after Derek. In a LETTER no less. Good job Shonda Rhimes.

If he wanted a better ending he could have sat with the showrunners and discussed how he'd like his exit to go but he didnt and also refused to show for his last episode. Sandra gave them a heads up that season 10 would be her last, did they take that out on her character? No. Nothing else would have made sense unless they write Jo off too.

This is complete BULL. Having children doesn’t mean you love someone. You expect me to believe that after everything Jolex has been through and Alex’s major character development that he would leave Jo without having the decency to tell her to her face for Izzie who left him knowing that Jo already has abandonment issues. THAT IS NOT ALEX. He didn’t even try to contact Izzie for over 10 years. I do love Izzex but not now after everything that has happened. I really feel for Jo. Her life was tough since she was born. Her mother abandoning her, being in foster homes, living in her car, her first husband beating her, finding out she was a product of rape which greatly affected her mental and now her second husband who she loved more than anything in the world and trusts does this to her. Some say that she will probably end up with Link or Hayes but if I was her I would be single for a long time because at that point I don’t trust anyone. If the writers really wanted to go with alex having children storyline they could of made Alex convince Izzie to move to Seattle, he can work in a different hospital and Jo can become their step mom. The storyline could have went about many different ways. Out of all the crap that Grey’s has pulled, this was the #1 WORST
They didn't make Alex stay in Seattle cuz they needed an excuse for him not showing up ever again since the actor left, the easiest way to do that was by killing him but...I have no idea why they went down this road instead

Lexie and Mark's ending was sad but it made sense for both of them to die because they had to end up together and could not end up with other people and Christina left to do what she loves. I remember when Derek was killed everyone was complaining at Shonda for killing him off; saying that they should’ve found another way to exit him from the show for the potential to come back. But Shonda knew that it was out of his character to just leave with no explanation and the only logical explanation for his exit was to die. And everyone was soo pissed lol.

There wasn’t much the writers could do. Justin Chambers left without any notice. They couldn’t just kill him because after all the other characters that died (Lexie, Mark, George, Ellis, Thatcher, Derek, and meredith’s step mother) it would not make sense. They had to write out Alex in a way that would be serious enough for him to leave.
Alex went out on a great note; the love of his life and a life with his children to grow up with what he never had as a child. Hate that he’s gone but I love that they wrote him back with Izzy
So this man finally marries Jo. Is the happiest he has ever been and then leaves her after one phone call with his emotionally abusive ex who left him with no explanation. All because she decided she still has the right to have his children without his permission and without informing him. You can still be a parent without leaving your wife.

In the episode where he said that he & jo should get a dog, he signed papers saying the Izzie could have & do what she choose to do with their frozen embryos. Jo was upset because Alex and Izzie had made plans for kids and all he asked her was if they should get a dog.
Exactly tho so you don’t care say she can do whatever then up and leave when you find out she did use them. I get Justin left suddenly and they had to think of something but damn you couldn’t come up with something better than that. It is so disappointing to end that way.
I don't think Grey's anatomy cares about how they make their characters look once the actors playing them leave (which eventually happens because this show seems to be never ending). They don't care about giving a proper closure to the characters, which is unfair both to the characters and the fans watching. So I'm glad I quit watching it with season 10. Until then, I loved it.

TrintsuKiishu2 the timeline of the show is different then the year between seasons keep that mind so many season make up a year in that show the first 3 seasons were actually the first year of internship, it’s not as hard to develop a character based on a crazy timeline Jump only for him to go back to her cause in the timeline he actually only went back to her after 5 almost 6 years not 10 years(they wrote 5 almost 6 years of character development that was spread out over 10 years , the length actress had been off the show for , but that doesn’t mean there was actually 10 years between the those two events in the story timeline.

I said it once and I’ll say it forever: grey’s should’ve ended at season 10 with cristina’s departure (or if they ended it then she wouldn’t have had to have left). the show fell apart without its central relationship (Meredith and Cristina) and Sandra Oh was the best actor on the show. Derek would’ve still been alive and April, Arizona, Callie, etc would’ve still all been there. The show used to be great- and now unfortunately will go down in history as the number one example of greed and not knowing when to leave the party. *sigh* this show will forever have a special place in my heart, but it needs to end. this episode was lazy and Alex would NEVER do this. the Alex from 10 years ago, maybe, but not now.

I don’t think it should’ve ended at season 10 personally. I thought (sad as it was) that they wrote Cristina out well enough for the show to go on, which it did up until now. Shonda had a way of being able to write off even the very main characters and still make the show work. Krista Vernoff is a shit writer compared to Shonda Rhimes. She’s just fucked up the whole damn show. If it was Shonda, she would’ve just made Alex die somehow, not make this whole infuriating, heartbreaking plot line that makes no sense to Alex’s character whatsoever.

I just want to pretend this bs didn't happen. There's no fairytales in real life. We can't expect it on GA either now!! Izzy and Burke left out of blue and still had a return for a better farewell... Yang, Torres, Arizona, April Addison, Stephanie, Ross, Nathan, Murphy, Sam... had a good reason to leave the hospital or Seattle. All others died and that sucked any way. But Karev? With all his grow from the "devil spawn" era, just disappears after helping Meredith and just send lame letters with bad excuses? No matter if he "has kids" or if they didn't like the actor Justin for any reason, you don't end a story like this. No sense, just unnecessary drama.

Izzie broke him in so many ways, his family at the hospital helped pick those up. Alex, and Jo were so similar they were both broken in some way. The Alex I knew would NEVER do this. How could Shonda give him this ending. Alex loved Jo, they got through everything. In some way I kind of envied the love that they had in the show. Alex would have been the type of father to parent the twins, and love Jo. Alex not only broke his ( Ex ) wife's heart, but he broke the people who got him through the toughest times, and who he helped get through tragedies. Izzie once again breaking my heart, it's like Shonda wants to drive away viewers.

I had a feeling that they were going to do something like that, although I was hoping that they were going to do something that would have lasted until the end of the season, like he was missing and everyone went looking for him or he was developing schizophrenia or maybe they found his car and he had a stroke or a heart attack or something, anything. He stood by Jo, Meredith, Meredith kids, Webber and Maranda and wouldn't have done this. He married Jo and promised her that he wouldn't leave her and now he does for Izzy?! Yes, he loved her, but towards the end she wasn't nice to him and left him. Why would he give up everything including his wife?! Two questions: he didn't say how he found Izzy and when Jo found out about the embryos, wouldn't it have had the information that done were gone and that she used them, especially since it's been more than five years since that happened. The writing and storylines have been going downhill for a long time and it's now time for the show to end. I have to wonder, Justin left so abruptly and has been nice, polite, diplomatic, but a bit elusive about his reasons for leaving so abruptly, like not announcing that he was leaving at the end of the season (and what about his contract, wasn't the show picked up until 2021?) is really because of the storyline that they were thinking of doing and he realized that he both as Justin and Alex couldn't and wouldn't have done and tired to have some input and he was shot down and so he left, but how they did it... it's almost like writers undid the frat boy bully who became a loyal, supportive, loving, trustworthy doctor, surgeon and most importantly, the man he became. I'm angry now and am shaking my head angerly at the writers.

I remember the scene where Alex told Jo about Izzie and how he pictures her life which I thought was a nice sort of closure to their story, but this just fucks that entire scene up. Ugh I’d expect at the very least for them to at least honor and respect the last original intern besides Meredith on the show but they couldn’t even do that smh.
The worst part of all of this is I feel so bad for Jo, that is truly heartbreaking!! I even said to myself before this episode aired, there is no way in hell he would just leave her like that, he wouldn’t do that, but he did! They showed me that the thought of never seeing Alex again upset Jo deeply when they were just friends to each other back then.
They showed me him realizing that he loved her before he had even kissed her. That this time it wasn’t about sex or just attraction. That he fell in love with Jo because of Jo.
They showed me her standing by his side through it all, even when he pushed her away because of his dad. They showed me how much she cared about him and how much he meant to her.
They showed me that he imagined a future with her just a couple months into their relationship. That he wanted to be with her forever.
They showed me that Alex and Jo overcame so many obstacles over the years and yet never gave up on each other. That even while they were broken up he didn’t want to date anyone else and she only hooked up with a random intern to forget about him, which she never could.
They showed me that they both had struggled with love since their childhoods. That Alex felt like none of the girls understood his messy upbringing properly. That Jo felt like she was too messed up to be truly happy with someone. Until they found each other and it felt like finding home.
They showed me that Alex made Jo love and trust again after escaping her abuser. That she could give a man her whole heart despite what had happened to her.
They showed me that Alex was so important to Jo that she wanted to take his last name. That being a Karev was something she was proud of, despite what some people once would have said.
They showed me that Alex loved Jo so much he never stopped fighting for her even when she was so depressed she pushed him away.
They showed me that despite his fear of his loved ones “going crazy” he loved Jo so much that her depression didn’t scare him off.
They showed me Jolex choosing each other over and over again over the years even when walking away from each other would have been easier.
They showed me that Alex didn’t need to fear being abandoned anymore because the woman he fell in love with proved him over and over again that she would never leave him.
And then they took it all away in a single episode. They spat on Jolex’s beautiful love story. And they made it look so easy. As if those 8 years meant nothing. As if everything I watched over these years was a lie.
And it still hurts. I don’t know when it will stop. But I know one thing for sure and that is that Jo is the love of Alex’s life. I’m not going to let one episode of shitty writing take that away from me because the writers thought it would be meaningful to give two original characters an ending together, no matter how little sense it makes.

How am I supposed to accept that two characters who were as compatible as Alex and Jo will end up with other people now?
When I looked at Jolex, I genuinely thought “these two will still have the same loving and bantering relationship when they’re 80 and surrounded by their children and grandchildren.”
There are fictional couples you like for a certain time because they’re exciting but you know deep down their relationship would never last in the long run. With Jolex, I thought they would because they felt like soulmates who understood each other on a level nobody else did.
They always knew each other’s fears and insecurities so well and tried their hardest to protect each other. It felt like there was nothing they wouldn’t do for one another. I can’t even imagine how her next love interest would be able to relate to Jo in ways Alex could. And no matter how picture-perfect the show tried to paint Alex’s ending, I don’t think he’s with his soulmate or one true love right now.
If he learned one thing from meeting and falling in love with Jo, it should have been that he and Izzie weren’t meant to be. And the scene where he pictures this life for her told me Alex had realized exactly that. That he found the right person for himself and was finally in a place where he could wish the same happiness for Izzie without any ill feelings. In my opinion, that’s what that scene was supposed to show us and not him still pining for her. If that were the case, he wouldn’t have talked to Jo out of all people about it, and she wouldn’t have encouraged him to reach out to his ex if she had felt like he still had romantic feelings for her.
It really hurts to see two people who seemed to be made for each other not end up together. And it hurts even more that it was done in a way that made no sense when you look at their relationship or the type of people they were.

“Izzie and I felt unfinished”
They made Alex say that although there were two episodes in season 6 where Izzie came back and they actually shared a conversation. In the last episode he even had time to think about it and decide for himself that he wanted her to leave and not come back because he felt he deserved better. He never saw her again afterwards, and I’m sure there were times he felt they should have talked it out more and he should’ve maybe given them a second chance (before he fell in love with Jo, because nobody can tell me he ever wished he was still with Izzie while he was dating Jo and they weren’t broken up. There were no indications for that whatsoever). But if Izzie and him were left unfinished, then what are he and Jo now?
He never even had one last conversation with Jo. He never called her or gave her the opportunity to talk to him because he knew he wouldn’t be able to do what he did if he heard her voice or saw her face. He left her while still being deeply in love with her.
If Alex and Izzie were unfinished, then Jo and Alex are now ten times more unfinished. Alex wasn’t in love with Izzie anymore while he was with Jo - it had been years since she left -, but now that he’s with Izzie again, he’s still in love with Jo.
Something tells me even those kids won’t make him forget who he left behind. And I don’t think he’ll be able to get over Jo so easily. If the writers insist that something inside him always wondered what Izzie and him could’ve been, then I have no doubt he’ll always wonder from now on how his future with Jo would’ve looked like.
And that’s why I find it hilarious to end Jo & Alex so abruptly by saying Izzie & Alex were left unfinished, because Izzie and Alex at least had one last talk. Jo and Alex never had that. Alex is currently hiding in Kansas from Jo and his love for her. I’d love to know what he would do if one day he saw her or talked to her again.

I think when he said all that stuff about always wondering and wanting to know meant that he wondered and wanted to know what happened to izzie and things felt unresolved and unfinished bc she just kind of left and never came back and if on the phone call he hadn't herd the kids like he said he'd go back to jo and things would be finished bc he didn't say that he always wondered what him and lizzie could've been he said he wondered and wanted to know which implied wanting to know where she was and how she was doing and he didn't say unresolved feelings or unfinished business he said unresolved and unfinished which to me implies that he meant they never got their peaceful ending or made a amends and that's why things felt unresolved not bc he was still in love wth her which he def wasn't but bc she was a part of his past and he never knew what became of her when she left idk that's just how me my sister and cousin took it when we watched the Ep

I hate the fact that they when major characters like Derek, or Lexie or Sloan decided to leave the show, the producers/writers decided to kill them off, which I think was really the best way to get fans to accept their decisions. And then when it comes to ALEX who has been on the show since Day 1 they just give him the worst exit EVER!!! He would NEVER leave Jo or Meredith, at least not without saying a proper goodbye first. I don't think the writers/ producers planned this out very well!! Alex deserved a much better exit than the one they gave him!!

To be fair, Eric Dane had some say for the way his character ended. I don't think any of the other actors did. They probably wouldn't have killed off Lexie if they didn't want Meredith to feel it. Chyler Leigh left the show on good terms with Shonda Rhimes.
I'm guessing they wanted to leave a door open for Justin Chambers to return, especially since he wasn't originally supposed to stay on the show (Alex was an added character). It might not be the ending folks were expecting, but it's the only one that makes sense if they didn't want (or could not) kill him off.

In less than 5 minutes they managed to destroy Alex’s whole character development, his relationship with Jo, the progress he’d done over 4 years to get over Izzy and Zola’s only important father figure after Derek. In a LETTER no less. Good job Shonda Rhimes.
I’m actually laughing at how ridiculous this whole thing sounds, the shows had it’s run and it’s time I stop watching it and let the good memories of the first 10 seasons be the only thing I remember bc damn even a child could’ve written a better ending for his character that was more honorable and not a literal complete joke, I can’t take this seriously at all, the show is pretty much unwatchable at this point and that means a lot coming from someone who’s watched the show multiple times and couldn’t love it more, the past few seasons are completely disgraceful

This is complete BULL. Having children doesn’t mean you love someone. You expect me to believe that after everything Jolex has been through and Alex’s major character development that he would leave Jo without having the decency to tell her to her face for Izzie who left him knowing that Jo already has abandonment issues. THAT IS NOT ALEX. He didn’t even try to contact Izzie for over 10 years. I do love Izzex but not now after everything that has happened. I really feel for Jo. Her life was tough since she was born. Her mother abandoning her, being in foster homes, living in her car, her first husband beating her, finding out she was a product of rape which greatly affected her mental and now her second husband who she loved more than anything in the world and trusts does this to her. Some say that she will probably end up with Link or Hayes but if I was her I would be single for a long time because at that point I don’t trust anyone. If the writers really wanted to go with alex having children storyline they could of made Alex convince Izzie to move to Seattle, he can work in a different hospital and Jo can become their step mom. The storyline could have went about many different ways. Out of all the crap that Grey’s has pulled, this was the #1 WORST
They didn't make Alex stay in Seattle cuz they needed an excuse for him not showing up ever again since the actor left, the easiest way to do that was by killing him but...I have no idea why they went down this road instead

This Is a terrible ending for a character that had such an impressive evolution.
