  • To make these easy coffee filter flowers, you will need two coffee filters. I dyed mine using hibiscus tea and turmeric to give them a red/pink color. (Know that if you use herbal tea the color will fade over time). Food dye diluted in water can also be used. After letting them sit in the tea for a moment, lay them flat to air dry. Or you could place them on a baking sheet in the oven on a very low temperature for a few minutes, watching them closely so they don't burn.
Once they're completely dry, you're ready to make the roses. Fold each coffee filter in half three times. I made a template to trace, but basically cut the top edge into a curve so it looks like an ice cream cone. Snip the tips off. After unfolding, refold them so they crease in the same direction.
    Now cut the petals.
On the first coffee filter cut 1 and discard it. Then cut 1, 2, and 4. On the second cut 3 and 5. So you'll have a 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 petal pieces. On the 1 and 2 petals I cut the tip off about 1/4 inch. Then I curl the edges with a toothpick and a pen helps too.
Next I glue the edges together to form "trumpets".
And finally, starting with the very center, I glue them inside each other squeezing and shaping as I go.
Thanks for watching! Have a beautiful day!
