If you really got so downtrodden about some careerists in the academy 'disproving' it, why didn't you try it yourself? I consider myself pretty rigorous with my research, but I also draw conclusions about my environment through experiences. Since these experiments use the mind, I wonder how those who disproved it were feeling at the time of the study.
