    I've got to comment on how great your naming schemes are for these different series. Off the rails, Train of thought, Trainwreck, etc... you get the train related dad-pun in there and they never feel forced. Perfection.

      With a game where we spend 100% of our time on a train, it feels ethically required to do it haha.

    It's fun to watch this series. The idea of this mod clan is interesting, but the strategy and design needs some adjustment to synergize well.
    Maybe one of the upgrade path of both Pathogens champion need to add "Resolve to kill some or whole floor viruses" , just like Queens' path. Offering a chance that make killing viruses no longer a struggle.

    I've been enjoying this series. This clan looks interesting. I'd love to see you do some other mods as well!

    fun run to watch, the mad scientist laugh at 28:02 was great. Watching you completely thrash the divinity is great, but so is watching you have to learn the intricacies of a particular combat in a close run. I really like modded content so this viewer will be happy with however many off-the-rail runs you decide to post

    As a watcher of both you and itstangalicious I've really been enjoying this series as as a cross over.
    On the Fel fight I think you were right that frostbite happene after contagion but contagion increases by one before triggering. The enemy had 92 health and 91 contagion so it bumped up to 92 before killing him.
    For the last divinity flight I wonder if bottom floor could have been easier since the divinity would clear the viruses for you and your front liner could tank to save your champion.

    I like your idea for Flea - it takes what makes the clan synergize so well with Shadesplitters and brings it in clan so you can always have it.

    I ran into a Mass Hallucinations with Doublestack pre-baked from Reflection. Slapped Permafrost on it and the rest of the run was basically over up to Divinity. Would never pick it up otherwise.

    I'm really enjoying this series, so if you want my two bits I'd say maybe do one of each of the Pathogen champions' three upgrade paths? Did that myself and had a blast. I'm currently exploring having them as my secondary class.

    I think that if you enjoy playing with the pathogens clan, I'd watch you trying it out at least once with each vanilla clan. I usually enjoy the modded content videos.

    I play Monster Train on ios and I watch you on the daily but sorry for the long comment and bad english. here’s my though
    Like what @Gremlin said, I think trying all 3 paths to see what’s good and maybe do the optional “Best Exile Path” or “Best Normal Path” because I assume they’ll do updates based on your feedback from the videos + and we know you’re pretty good so maybe you know what’s best from what you learned so far
    I can’t wait for the new clans that you’ll showcase, showing love to these makers will really make them continue in being more creative ❤

    I don't mind it when mechanics exist that work contrary to each other. Having some anti-synergy built into clan mechanics seems like a key part of the game's design from an overall balance perspective, and it helps keep you on your toes as a player as you need to be able to recognize the pitfalls and work around them. Think things like Permafrost+Discard in Stygian, or Eggs/Reap/Extract in Wyrmkin. Yes, the spikes-culture unit has a hard time with virions, but if you can work around that by killing the viruses yourself, (or triggering culture by some other means), then it can be a very powerful unit. How much anti-synergy should exist is a more open question, though. I think I'd prefer stronger cards that are more difficult to use (like Little Icarus) over more reliable ones whose numbers are too weak to cut it (Pretty much anything with spikes in Awoken).

    • @RisingDusk
      @RisingDusk  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think the main difference is that Permafrost and Discard are less prevalent/necessary for the core functionality of Stygian to work. You can still do big spell slams and still Incant successfully even if you don't use Permafrost or Discard synergies. Virion is so core to the base functionality of Pathogens that I think anti-synergy with it is truly bad. Most of the clan combos here don't have overwhelming synergies like Shadesplitter to prop them up.

    Again making it extra hard by taking quick. 😂 I really enjoy playing this clan myself.
    You also had the win in your last turn before the reset, you just play destructive resting on your champ and then quick gives you two 1k hits which would have been enough.
    But it's good to see that we all do the same mistakes.
    Still enjoying the modded runs.
    Also I think sometimes it's ok to break a single player game. Having one upgrade for a champion can be quite fun. And it's kind of a hight roll.
    I also have noticed that you can not buy clan artifacts, this seems to be true for all modded clans.

    • @RisingDusk
      @RisingDusk  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I legit think we die without Quick, though. Our floor is just not durable enough otherwise.

    Super Virus is really strong. I don't agree with your evaluation on the champion personally. All 3 paths are good. This run struggled because you forced leaning into the new clan. Stygian doesn't support Pathogens very well, especially the culture units. So your best bet was to lean into Stygian imo. You saw Loadstone totem on floor 3. Personally I would have grabbed a stygian unit floor 2 knowing what I know about Pathogens.
    Super virus works really well with Umbra like you said in the video. Hemorrhagic and Super Spreader pop off with this combo.
    Hellhorn and Melting are good support clans for Super virus and the Pathogens clan because it gives you additional options to proc your culture triggers.
    With Awoken and Wurmkin, I personally would lean into those clans and use Pathogens as support since those clans don't offer much Culture support.
    I do agree Flea doesn't feel great with Super Virus though. I know this comment feels nit picky, but I hope this helps with your future runs with Pathogens.

    • @RisingDusk
      @RisingDusk  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Okay, yeah, and I acknowledged that Lodestone Totem was a winning line here, but it feels really disingenuous to "play a bog-standard Stygian run" when trying the new clan. If I were winstreaking on this series I'd absolutely hard pivot there and just throw away Pathogens almost entirely.

    About the divinity removing contagion:
    For me, whether it should or shouldn't all lies in the reading of the word "damaging".
    As I see it, it can mean 2 things; Either it means (A)"something that is dealing damage" or (B)"something that can deal damage".
    In case A that would mean it shouldn't remove contagion before it deals damage whereas in case B it should remove it each turn like it does now because it is a debuff with a potential damaging effect.
    One thing I am curious about: Does the divinity remove reap from itself if the floor has no charged echos(and would therefore deal no damage)?
    If it does, then it is definitely case B, in which case it is currently working as it should when removing contagion
    Edit: wow, I managed to pause the video to write this comment litteral seconds before you adressed the reap thing xD
    In that case I agree with you that it isn't behaving correctly

      Hart actually tested this after my episode and found out that it changed from 2.0 to 2.1. That's on me.

  • @AshEshyr
    @AshEshyr 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    53:45 yeah, pretty sure your testing earlier in the run didn't work because the unit only had 6 frostbite but 11 health, so frostbite triggers before contagion. Which you would kinda hope so, because otherwise it plays really poorly with reap and frostbite.
    My take on super virus champion is to check the relic first always, the double shard relic or the culture triggers work on any floor relic make the shard lines significantly better, but otherwise its really hard to scale. in fact the contaion line feels almost unplayable without that culture on any floor relic(but worked really well when i had it, 4000 contagion on divinity or something ridiculous in 1 turn)
    Divinity's Purify clearing contagion is something i feel really conflicted about. According to the wording it *shouldn't* but if it did not then it provides a lot of "instant win against divinity" buttons, that while not trivializing the combat, still kinda destroys the balance? Idk, I'd want to try playing with it being able to stack up to see if it actually does destroy it.

    49:00 why not Hell's Banners? It says "summon", so won't viral outcroppings trigger it?

      Hrm, I guess that would work yes!

  • @namelesstomorrow

    What bothers me is that the summoned units dont get emberdrain, have you ever noticed that?

    • @RisingDusk
      @RisingDusk  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Huh, you're right. Hallowed Halls triggers emberdrain in the base game, but Virion doesn't. That is an issue.

    • @ItsTangilicious
      @ItsTangilicious 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good eye! While it seems incorrect, that is actually working correctly because the summoned Recombinant Virus has Cardless. Similar to that, Commemorative Spike, For the Greater Good, and Remnant Host/Legion of Wax/egg spawns also do not trigger Emberdrain.
