Exo experienced all up & downs & I swear being an exo-l really took you a roller coaster ride. SM never see the light / potential in exo eventhough they already proved it a thousand times. That's always been upsetting. Guess the 'Nation Pride' really means nothing to SM. Can't believe the real betrayer that exists among people around them is actually their company themselves.
I just hope everything the best for exo in the future. As long as there are exo, there's always fans who support them, there always hope. We'll wait , Till we meet again, EXO ot9!

I wonder what the current or modern day kpop would be like if Lee Soo Man never existed or made SM. They've had such a substantial impact/influence on the kpop industry and the effects are still being felt today.
    - SM popularized the kpop formula that most kpop companies are still using today. He took what was working in JPOP and western pop music and put his own spin/improved those methods that people all over the world are now using in some form or manner.
    - Lee Soo Man and SM gave opportunities to kpop artists who went on to inspire a whole new generation of idols who later inspired other idols. DSP entertainment copied this formula from SM after seeing their success which led to their own kpop artists who influenced the kpop current kpop scene like Sechkies, Finkl, Kara, and so forth. From SM BoA inspired many artists to be come a kpop idol (also broke into the Japanese market), TXT's Taehyun wanting to be an artists after listening to SHINee, all the idols who were inspired by Girls Generation, TVXQ, Suju, and so forth would never have happened. For a while, SM artists were kpop in China as well and they still have a substantial influence on that market. Would many CPop idols from survival shows or companies exist/found success if ex-Exo members, Lay, Victoria, and so forth didn't have their influence on the Chinese market (P.S. I love watching those survival shows where those Chinese kpop/former Kpop artists were mentors/judges)?
    - SM rejected JYP which eventually led to him going solo, creating his own company, and debuting so many famous idols. Without SM, JYP would not exist in the same capacity. Maybe he makes his own company later after his contract with SM is up, but all the events and the current timeline wouldn't exist. He wouldn't have the opportunity to help G.O.D, find Rain, debut Wonder Girls, and so forth. The collab between JYP and BigHit with 2AM brought an influx of capital into the company. If that collab never happened at that exact time that it did because JYP joined SM, would BigHit still have the money to stay in business and provide training/funds to debut Glam and later BTS? I wonder if kpop would still be as popular all over the world today. Many of his talent scouts that found the current artists wouldn't be employed by JYP to find those artists in the first place. This balloons into if Cube would ever rise up without Hyuna, if Rain would have ever became a kpop legend that took over Asia, if Twice ever happened, if IU wasn't rejected and went to Kakao, if Ryujin never went to a Got7 concert to get scouted, and so forth.
    - SM's influence on BigBang that led to YG rising and becoming part of the Big 3. SM discovered GD, made him a trainee, GD discovered his love for hip hop during his trainee years at SM, went on to be featured on a mixtape, have Sean recognize GD's talent that led to him telling YG about it, and that led to GD becoming a YG trainee. Imagine if SM wasn't around to set these things in motion. Who knows if YG would ever find GD if the stars didn't align. Same with Seungri. You can love him or hate him, but you can't deny his impact and legacy with BigBang. Lee Soo Man made SM and they debuted Shinhwa. When Shinhwa left and made the program "Let's Coke Play! Battle Shinhwa" to find the next Shinhwa, Seungri was a part of that survival program. YG scouted him to audition for BigBang after he was eliminated. None of that could have been possible if Lee Soo Man didn't make SM to debut Shinhwa in the first place. Without GD and Seungri, BigBang/YG would have never reached the heights that they did and we might never have gotten 2NE1, iKON, BlackPink, and so forth. Then there's YG's acting department spinoff as well that's important in the kdrama/kmovie scene.
I could probably go on for days find ways to lead different events of kpop going back to SM if I tried. This could probably be a good video to make where you explore the timeline of where kpop would be if Lee Soo Man/SM doesn't exist.

    TO ALL THE EMBARRASING HATERS.
SM isnt called the trendsetter company for nothing, did yall ever see him fail? NO cause hes the standart he was the one who started kpop who formed and shaped it
    - He created the first ever Kpop group: H.O.T
    - BoA did THAT literally paved the way. She opened kpop to the japanese market and western as well with NO youtube MVs just her charting and slaying. We dont even know if wonder girls and girls generation would serve like that in america without boas help. FIRST kpop idol who charted with a FULLY english song in america.
    - He created the trainee system
    - He created Photocard concept which is used all over Kpop now and different types of genres in one song with SNSD
    - SUPERJUNIOR are literally the pioneers of boy groups
    - He created the dance practice trend with shinee and raised the choreo and vocal standarts for bg (first ever dance practice in kpop)
    - He created StoryLines in groups with EXO
    - He is the one who started the Concept trend and raised popularity with REDVELVET
    - He set up the standarts of Sub units and Concepts with NCT and created Neo City a place with unendless members and sub units / an eternal boy group
    - He created a group with members out of other groups which is called avangers of Kpop now!
    - He brought the ae Concept to Kpop with AESPA
    - He created mf beyond live concert DURING A PANDEMIC thats a true GENIUS. yall hated that idea but watch everyone doing live concerts with beyond live...
    - and ofc styling like Men Crop Tops and mullets.
bless his mind kdjsjd yall haters talking sht about the comapny and call his ideas fail and his groups flops just to see your favs doing it years later LMAO

Jessica innovate: the nickname "Ice Princess". It's her official nickname in SNSD due to her cold, elegant, expression. And now it used by fans everywhere who suits the nickname.

Can’t deny SM is always the one that starts a trend, always give us the most creative and mind blowing concept, with their own universe.
Their training system is the most mature and complete to me as well, also they expand their business outside of entertainment, food and merchandise, very adventurous I would say.
Their music production is always interesting, they pick songs according to the group’s concept instead of the producer’s reputation. Some SM hit songs we know are possibly come from small production team on the other side of the world, but somehow SM finds them.
They don’t rely on one producer with their hit songs like what YG did with Teddy, which can cause their songs to sound repetitive.
Every groups have different sounds, provide the stage for every styles of music to speak and different kind of producers to shine.
They give out a lot of opportunities to professionals, but not their artists, although we can see some improvements compared to the last decade.
I will give kudos to them as they provide a platform for unfamous people, especially being such a huge and influential company.

There were more strict rules for people who were Chinese back then. So Hangeng had to wear a mask whenever he was on stage to cover his face and hair. But, sm fixed the problem which opened the doors to Korea for Chinese kpop artists. Another fact, they were the first company ever to suggest sub-units with the first being Super Junior-KRY with the Super Junior members Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung. @peacelovevegankpop 3 ปีที่แล้ว +68

Although they did make mistakes in the past with EXO-M, here are some reasons why SM isn't a shit company:
🔹️ their artists stick with them for years. Kangta is still with them after 25 years. BoA just had her 20th anniversary. TVXQ is approaching their 20th. SuJu just had their 15th anniversary. Most kpop groups don't even make it beyond 10 years in other companies. If they were being mistreated, they wouldn't continue to stay with SM.
🔹️ Lee Soo Man treats his artists like they are his children. SuJu is so spoiled by him and jokes with him all the time. BoA is literally like his daughter. He gave her the reins to her career since the beginning of her career. Whatever BoA wanted to do, he let her. He gave her suggestions and let her make the decisions.
🔹️ All SM artists look up to Lee Soo Man and their staff with respect. You can hear this countless times when they accept awards, when they talk about him on shows or vlive.
    🔹️ EXO has 10 manager.
🔹️ If you watch NCT Dream's receny Uncut videos, you can hear the staff cheering on dream and complimenting them in the background.
🔹️ Taemin and his manager's relationship. Its more like save Nam Eui Soo from mistreatment by Taemin!🤣
🔹️ if SM didn't allow them to express themselves creatively, how do they have the most successful solo artists who are in idol groups. If you watch the behind the scenes, the artists have a ton of input on their albums. Their names are in the songwriting and producing credts. They allowed Suju to make their own label. They let their artists create products to sell on their shop like BoA and Ten. Taeyong,bKun, and Chanyeol are alwags sharing and producing their own music.
🔹️ People may think that they don't pay their idols enough. If you think about it, their pay is basically pocket money. I'm pretty sure that SM takes care of their living expenses and food as long as they live in the dorm. Hoe else would they be able to afford all these brand name clothes and expensive furniture?

    • @shreksmeatballs9435
      @shreksmeatballs9435 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Also, SM groups tend to look the most...carefree, if that makes sense? Like, in their vlives and stuff, they all look so happy and free, and not awkward about anything, or sad about anything. Many of the people with my favourite personalities come from SM groups. It must really mean that they're having a good time! I see little to no signs of mistreatment.
And it's true that Chinese idols are mistreated, but that's from Exo's Era. The Chinese group WayV has pure Chinese members like Xiaojun and they're not mistreated at all. In fact they're given more opportunities than some of the most famous Korean idols in the same groups. I think the times for SM are changing, and improving!

SM pays like 70% to the company and 30% to the idols or something like that ONLY for korean acts. that's why most SM idols focus A LOT on japanese and international releases... they actually get 70% of these themselves and 30% goes to the company. and this only happens when the songs are 100% made by SM... if the artists writes and produces their own songs... they naturally get most of the income for that. look at Taeyong... he's worth at least $10mil and Mark is not that far behind because of how much they write...

SM is always ahead of time tho, they're like pioneers. In concepts, in their songs, groups, etc. and fans always worry and bashed sm because of rush and daring decisions but give them time and let us watch SM be successful again. For example the nct Hollywood (I'm not saying i like it, boi i definitely not like it, i literally hate this idea too but it's sm and they already plan this before so let's just wait and pray that this will be successful in the end). The only thing i really don't like with SM is that on how they treat their artist. I mean SM ent is literally the home of vocals and visual (no one can argue with that), and don't tell me they don't have a great and amazing dancer (bcs there's a lot of artists in sm that is sooo good in dancing and rapping of course), i mean sm artists mean talent (they also write lyrics) anddd sm artists is full of comedians (i love them). THEY ALSO HAVE AN AMAZING PERSONALITY (so i literally don't understand why does sm artists always get the hate, literally a lot of hate/bashing just because of the stupid reason created by citizens)

SM paved the way to a lot of things that the current groups are benefiting til now like the Japan and China market. They have opened the market outside Korea. Imagine if your group flopped in Korea and there's no other market to promote, how will they survive?
That's why Japan and China (and some parts of Asia) are the solid market and big fanbase of KPOP until now. Big 3 have introduced KPOP to U.S market too and now BTS have boost the popularity of KPOP globally.
SM,YG and JYP are not just Big 3 because they are the biggest company but because they have contributed a lot to KPOP when it was just starting to grow, together with other 2nd gen agencies like Starship, FNC, Cube etc. And now a lot of new agencies are contributing to the success of KPOP globally like Hybe.
