- My first use of the Land Pride 60 inch Grader Scraper GS1560 and the Pat's Quick Hitch System. VERY pleased with the performance of both. The driveway looks new!

I will pick up my new GS1560 in a few hours but I intend to us a chain on my third point. Frankly, I use a chain with all my implements including a tiller, caroni flail mower, planter and a few other things. My tractors (2) are both Kubota BX2660s. I am an engineer and understand what a rigid link would do but I don’t think it necessary. The chain only comes into play to lift the implement.

Mine works best using the adjustable top link. I put forward tilt for cutting/resurfacing & rear tilt for smoothing it all out.
I like to run the scarifiers all the way down every couple years to bust it all up. Then run the front bar at 10 degrees in with a little tilt to bring everything to the center too. Then run down the center to lay it all flat.
Hi Jdbuski! Its time that I do another grooming run. The rains have moved alot of the gravel around and erosion is starting to get bad again. I'll start with the scraper blade to dig out the ditches and bring the gravel from the sides back up on the road, then run the grader scraper on the sides, then last on the center. You mention you have a rear blade to bring gravel back in, and I concur the first two passes could use that, then go with the land plane. Dad always said if I didn’t cut out the potholes, washboards and ruts, they’d just come back in the same places. Meaning cut deep enough to break them up so the loose gravel wouldn’t bounce out of the rigid hole or splash out if wet. You might consider running your rippers an inch or so deeper than the blade so it isn’t just filling in those holes. Good luck with it!
Hi John, thanks for that great advice. I have a newer video where I had to repair the ditches with my County Line scraper blade, then I finished it off with the land plane. This method by far has been the best and after several torrential rains over the past few months, the gravel driveway is holding up better! Thanks for watching!

Great advice from both of you. I started my driveway with recycle concrete and asphalt. I box blade the drive to bring the material to where I want then land plane for smooth results. It turn out very nice. I find it relaxing to get out and work (play) with my tractor and attachments. With the quick hitches it makes it a snap to do everything. Thanks again on your video
Houndsman1 brought me here. Been thinking about getting a land plane for my lil bx23s. Wish i would have skipped on the box blade but the price was so much less.
Hi Tyler. Yeah the land plane has been a great implement for driveway maintenance. I decided on the land plane vs. a box blade and I believe I made the right choice. The scraper blade I bought from tractor supply combined with the land plane is all I need to maintain the driveway. Thanks for watching!

Hi all,, I have a Kubota L2501 with the Landpride 70 inch Grading scraper,, it pulls it up steep hills very well, very occasionally if you dont have the angle set so both blades are working, i will have to feather my 3 pt control, but over all, a very good implement, It cost me approx 2000$ Cdn with the scarifiers

I have a Woods grading scraper similar to this land plane, also with 2 grading blades at an angle. People tell me they are getting a tractor for grading & leveling their driveway, horse arena, property etc. And that they are getting a box scraper to do this. I always tell them NO! Do NOT get a box scraper for that. A box scraper is not at all good for medium to fine grading & leveling, it has only one blade in the rear. No matter how much you try adjusting it, it will either skim over the top, or dig down too deep. I always tell them to get a grading scraper, they have two blades on angles specifically meant for grading & leveling. Later, they tell me they have their new tractor and of course they got a box scraper in back, and it doesn't do a good job grading & leveling, and they are always struggling with it. Later, some of them actually listen when I tell them a 2nd time to get a grading scraper or land plane, some buy a grading scraper, most keep struggling with their box scraper.
Hi HeRacesTheSun! I agree with you completely! When I was shopping for my tractor and attachments, I needed an implement to groom my very long gravel driveway and I first settled on a box blade since everyone seemed to be using that. But then on Outdoors with the Morgans, I saw Mike using a land plane and that changed my mind. I'm so happy I didn't get a box blade. My scraper blade (County Line) combined with my Land Plane are perfect for reestablishing the side ditches and then smoothing out the gravel. Thanks for confirming my decision. Take care!

Doesn’t appear to have done a very good job of getting base from the sides back to the middle. Looks like it leaves a lot along the side or kicks it further off the road
Hi GC Ranch, you are right, I purchased a scraper blade to bring the side gravel back onto the road and then follow with the land plane to even it out.

Hi Greg! Those are the Pat's Quick Hitch system. I got a deal at Northern Tool, they had a set that was returned and I picked it up for under $100. They are great and make work more efficient. I have another video on the install.
That looks like a good driveway. You should check out the Dirt Dog brand sometime.

Great video again! I need a land plane in the worst way. I was thinking a box blade, but I don't want to move my gravel, just smooth it out. If I can ask, what did you pay for it?

Thanks, Ironheadbiker! The land plane (grader scraper) was $1,300. I originally considered a box blade, but that is primarily for moving dirt/gravel. I needed the same as you, to smooth it out... and that is precisely what the grader scraper does! I have another project to level out some ground for the tractor shed and I will use the shanks for that to help break up the ground ahead of the scraper blades... Have fun working! Be safe!

Whats a good method for creating a small crown with one of these?
I recommend getting a scraper blade along with having the land plane. Use the scraper blade to pull in the gravel that migrates to the sides over time and with rain washout, then take a pass or two with the land plane first on the outside, again, pulling in the gravel to the center and finally, one pass over the middle. This is how I reestablish a crown. I need to do this soon as the summer rains have washed out alot of the driveway. Good Luck!
If all you have is the land plane, you would need to tilt your plane accordingly to move the gravel to the center of the driveway
what size tractor are you using ?
Hi Richard. My tractor is a Kubota L2501. It is a perfect size for my and my 25 acres. I just finished my first brush hogging today and will post that video on Monday. The tractor is 25 horse power so it has no regen cycle which is an added benefit. Stay safe!
