Scott Adkins himself has a signature kick based off this, he did it best as his role of Yuri Boyka. That kick along with JCVD makes them the 2 best kickers of all time in my opinion.

Thank you for sharing this awesome video of my early teenage year's icon.
As we speak. I turned my whole garage into a bona fide home gym with 2 benches, one universal multi purpose machines, a collection of dumbells starting at 5lbs all the way to 70lbs (will purchase a set of 80 on fathers day), more than 1000 pounds of free weights, a punching bag stand, a stationary bike, and plenty of rubber mats across the garage. And to add to the aura of this holy shrine to fitness, I have plenty of inspirational posters, but it wouldn't be completed if I not only had a huge poster of Bruce Lee, but a few of my icon, Jean Claude Van Damme. Yes, I have the poster of Lionheart, along with him doing the splits in the air in the movie Bloodsport, and today, May 13 of 2022, I should be getting the poster of Death Warrant. Along with playing Slayer via Bluetooth on my speakers, those posters of my icon inspire me to do an extra rep with 315lbs on the bench press or an extra rep with 405lbs on the squat rack, although st my age, I'm cutting back on performing those He-Manic lifts and doing more reps (12 to15 reps) with lighter weight, concentrating on dumbells and cable work instead, and including some punching bag work right after each session (3 sets of 3 minute rounds per say).

    • @AccountantProOT
      @AccountantProOT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@VikingSamurai and an awesome investment. If I learned something from the 2020 lockdown is that I dont need to be at the mercy of the box gyms anymore and I can put in the work to create the environment that suits me. I have been working out since 14 years of age (Sept 6th, 1990 to be exact) and remember a time when folks used to go to the gym to actually...work out. Today's environment is one I cannot really fathom nor tolerate anymore. From the overcrowded facilities, to the lack of hygiene of some members that don't wipe the machines nor benches after they use it, from every piece of equipment taken, not to mention, dumbbells tossed all over the place, weights left unreracked, too many "princesses" that all they wanna do is take selfies, to the horrible easy listening or trap music from the speakers (i hate using headphones) to the rude fitness staff, I say in 2020, I had enough. Now, I can blast Slayer or Iron Maiden on my speakers and just hit the Iron like folks did in my day, and have no excuse to miss a workout. Heck, I just finished training legs about one hour ago. The only thing I miss is maybe having a spotter. But other than that, yeah, having my own home gym is a great investment.

Van Damme is so awesome - The helicopter kick he did in 'No Retreat No Surrender' was my favourite as you actually see it connect with his opponent and it's fast and looks practical and very very cinematic. Seeing them in a compilation like this is awesome as you can see the variations of them over the years, Van Damme is a genius actor and the variations are obviously deliberate because of the tone of the scenes and shot angles and he is a great under-rated actor who can do both physical, comical, melodramatic performances and any kind of acting. It's almost as if he knew these kicks will be reviewed later by cinema lovers and martial arts lovers over the years, hence the different variations of the kicks and their angles.
Thank you for compiling this Viking Samurai - Love this video - Now I am very much looking forward to seeing Van Damme do this famous kick in his next movie!.

Yeah whether or not Van Damme is a good "fighter" is besides the point...he has inspired millions of boys and men around the world to lift, take up martial arts and even dance.

My good pal Nic put in two weeks work back in 1999 to try to perform this kick.
His kick (only one way - his right kicking leg) was (after 2 weeks) as good as JCVD.
It was a thing to be saluted.
Nic couldn’t really fight well but I was astounded how similar it looked and how effortless it was for him to copy this cool move - AND totally fucking jealous, of course!

I forget how *Charles Bronson* was a precursor to Stallone as a muscular action star.
Hard Times AKA The Streetfighter (1975) always stuck in my head for having more realistic fight choreography than the vast majority of films.

    • @MatrixCobretti

@@amk8411 Charles Bronson just doesn't get enough credit period. He is without question one of the founding fathers of the action movie genre. I remember reading an interview years ago where Stallone talked about how he admired Bronson and was a huge fan. Hard Times absolutely inspired all of the 90s street fighting movies like Lionheart as well. It's a tremendously good movie.

    Absolute Masterpiece
Never knew to now it was called the helicopter kick
He definitely owns this move & should be more recognised for it.
I always tried this as a kid & there was no way I was gonna achieve it (just being honest)
My recommendation if you wana achieve anything near this move is to work on strengthening your core & work ‘a little’ on stretching Many have put their backs out trying this I bet.
JCVD you inspired millions to take up martial arts I salute you
    🙏🏼

I could do that kick back in the 90’s. Buuut not as perfect. He was THE Martial arts God. I started practice stretching after watching bloodsport and could do alot of kicking before my parentes allowed me to start to Martial arts. They were worried that i would become violent by training Martial arts but we all know that it is not so. You get selfcontrol by training. But i was a tempered little boy Then. One of my friends dad talked to my parents and they allowed me to start training Tae Kwon Do and the instructors where bafflede when i showed up and allready could do a lot of the kicking mowements because i had seen Bloodsport and trained myself to do split at that time. It learned me that If you want something bad enough you Can get it with hard work and dedication.
    ❤😊

True story, when I was 16 years old working my first job me and coworkers aways talked about fighting movies and one day he was preparing to do something and I’m like what’s is he going to do and he did the helicopter kick but I naturally ducked it and Counterpunch with a straight punch to the face and the employees were like wowww Because it looks just like a movie scene. I miss those days when fighting movies were popular.
