    Let me start by saying that I’m Swiss. So how can someone like me, Swiss, get one of those? We’ve got no ocean, no sea, no coastline. I’m from a country that is landlocked. So how do we do it? Precisely how did I do it? Recently I was commissioned to help a fellow Swiss get his license. And this will help explain and demonstrate the process.

    Videos are getting more professional, Alex. Love your channel anyway. I missed the opportunity to sail like you - I'm ten years older - but I live it vicariously with you!

    I have watched your channel since the beginning and I saw you doing your licence thing and you buying your boat. You have had quite journey Alex. I am a pensioner in the UK and an old sailor, I was going to buy a boat a few years ago but my dad needed somebody to help him, so the boat never happened. By the time he went I could no longer afford a boat and had a couple of heart attacks and a heat operation so the sailing solo was a dream unfulfilled, ho hum! However, I can watch you and others doing it for me.

    Alex, I have been watching your channel for a while now and I like your sailing adventures and everything that you post. If I recall correctly, a while ago you talked about visiting the rest of the southern Cape Verde Islands, namely Fogo and Brava which I believe are the only two you have not visited yet. I was born in Brava and left about 40 years ago to the United States. I hope that you visit Fogo and Brava soon. Once again, thank you for the postings and please continue with your amazing adventure.

      It's so nice to get positive comments from people like you, Cape Verdeans. I hope to get yo your island soon. It's a bit tricky weather wise, so that has been my excuse. But it is my quest to visit every island before I move on, si deus kiser, I will very soon. If all goes well with a beautiful kriola friend

    Do you need this qualification to go sailing? British sailors don't need any qualifications to set sail on the sea.

    • @WindedVoyage
      @WindedVoyage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not to go sailing, to fly a Swiss flag. Be registered as a Swiss vessel

    So Alex, are you saying that if you're Swiss you need the equivalent to a captains license to sail a boat if it's Swiss flagged? We US folks don't need this - it's just recommended you take asa courses like I did. But a captains license is only needed if you have paying customers for hire like you're doing .

    Hi Alex, a question please;
    It is mandatory to have assurance for a boat or you can sailing without it?
    Thank you for this video it motivates me to start again and pass the exam.
    May i can contact you to collect the nautical miles?!

    • @nigelsilverthorn9188
      @nigelsilverthorn9188 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, however they are not being accepted in some places now and you also need ICC or others. Most can be gained by paying some money and showing your RYA qual. I needed ICC for the Caribbean for example, and I think now for Greece and other Med destinations. I am asked for ICC more than RYA now.

    Salut Alex,
    Vidéo très instructive sur l'obtention du permis hauturier suisse. Cela nous a fait de sacrés souvenirs à Dajana et moi-même qui sommes passés par là.
    Je rajouterais une condition, il faut 1000 miles en mer ET 18 jours en mer. Les deux sont cumulatives. Nous, on avait plus de 1000 miles mais on arrivait à peine aux 18 jours, mais on l'a eu.
    C'est super que tu puisses accueillir nos compatriotes pour faire les fameuses miles. Peut-être que tu devrais faire un peu plus de 'Pub' car je me souviens des mes recherches pour trouver des stages pour les miles et ce n'était pas si évident que ça !

      Merci Ivo. Comme moi tu connait. Jèai oublier les 18 jours. Moi j'ai tout fait d'un coup en 3 semaines. Trouver des gens qu'il veulent naviguer pourrait etre bien par ci par la. Les sous sont toujours bienvenue. La mer de Cortez te convient? Ca a l'air caliente par alla.

      @@WindedVoyage Nous, on l'a fait en 2 ans à cause de nos obligations professionnelles. Je pense qu'accueillir des compatriotes pour faire des miles peut être une occasion pour gagner quelques sous !
      La mer de Cortez est pleine de vie (baleines, raies manta, dauphins, otaries, etc.) mais l'eau est froide à 20°-21°.
      Il semble qu'en été la température à terre est très élevée (plus de 40°). On verra car on doit rentrer en suisse pendant l'été pour régler des questions administratives.
